Kind of surprised this hasn't been mentioned here.

http://blogs.windows...fing-next-week/

Where to watch: http://news.microsof...windows10story/

Apparently Microsoft is talking a lot about gaming at this event. Phil Spencer tweeted some time that January was "the time to start talking about PC gaming."

There's a lot of speculation that Microsoft is going to take the initiative to integrate its services and products a lot. Adding Windows elements to Xbox, and Xbox elements to Windows. One particularly interesting rumor (that sounds amazing to me) is that they're considering having some form of cross-play, or bringing Xbox exclusives to PC. Am I the only one who wants to play Halo and Forza on my PC?

Anyway, here's a thread to discuss the event.

(A lotta info came from here)

Gears of War > Halo

Never played it.

Never played it.

Might want to fix that. Gears of War pretty much sonned Mass Effect, assuming you like the gameplay mechanics of Mass Effect 3. Even the second game, to a smaller extent.

Halo: CE was on PC.

Maybe. I will consider it. I doubt its story would surpass mass effect's though.

Yes, The first Halo and Halo 2 were also on PC. But half the story is not gonna suffice for me.

Gears of War > Halo

True dat; Gears is pretty much the only Xbox-exclusive franchise I ever really cared for (that stayed exclusive, anyway).

Oh sh*t, finally got my likes back. Tired of BioWare messing around with these quotas.

BioWare even hired the lead producer of Gears 3 for the next Mass Effect.

Smooth Gears gameplay + vanguard charge + frostbite 3 destructible environments, oh yes!

I remember playing Gears of War for the first time with my brother and the neighbour kid who was 12 or so. At the first Berserker encounter the neighbour kid is basically like, "I don't wanna play anymore." LOL. That game did a great job of building a creeping atmosphere.

Lol yeah the Berserker encounter is iconic. Loved when they come back in Lambent form in Gears 3

I'm not taking Microsoft seriously until they release the entire Halo series for PC. Then we can start talking.

Wasn't there this exact same talk about the crappy Windows 8 dashboard, where it was supposed to integrate XBox, PC and mobile experiences so that things like games could be a shared experience across all platforms? I have my doubts.

Still, it is refreshing to see the Microsoft finally figured out that businesses don't give a rip about upgrading OS software except when it actually really is demanded every decade or so and is trying to cater to the category of PC user who will be buying a new rig often enough to consider buying a new OA to go along with it - which is to say, high end PC gamers.

I just don't trust Microsoft to know a good idea from a bad one, nor a fun idea from a boring one.
