Wait

But if all the magisters have that body hopping power.

Won't they be impossible to kill?

They won't all be as dumb as Cory as to put some of their power in a dragon so they can't use it for a bit once it's dead.

So please let Cory be the only with it. Otherwise the amount of stupid necessary to be able to kill the rest of them might make my brain explode.

Are there really people that think that he's just a random darkspawn?

I think he supposed to look similar to Hurlock emissaries in the Calling, until they change his appearance in Awakening. I don't know about other people, but I don't think he's just another random darkspawn. I'm still skeptical whether he share the same body hopping ability with Corypheus. I'm tired of seeing my decision in the past games boil down to nothing.

It has always made me wonder if there was more than one prison built by the Wardens, binding the magisters into eternal sleep.

Very likely.

Probably. Wonder how the Architect got loose.

I'm betting on weakening seals mixed with manipulating the Wardens just like Corypheus prison or he never was imprisoned in the first place.

Perhaps getting loose somehow resulted in his memories erased. Now, if we've learned anything from the Wardens, it's that upper level blood magic is dangerous beyond all comprehension, and nobody truly understands the art. And since blood magic often deals with the mind, and the prisons were made of blood magic, maybe breaking loose did something to the Architect.

But why wait until the Fifth Blight to rise? When Corypheus was causing drama during and after the First Blight? How could the Architect slip the noose when Sashamiri was hellbent on locking away these creatures.

Another thing, we know seven magisters went into the Fade. Are we absolutely sure that seven came back out?

Gaider has said that the Architect "obviously" won't be back if you killed him. And while Warder is right that Gaider hasn't outright said the Architect is not a former Magister Gaider's word is a better description of that than it is of his alternative. I take that to mean that there is at least one former Magister that cannot bodyhop. Unless Gaider changes his mind, which I'd prefer he not do once he's established something through a source that cannot be reasonably impeached.

I'd been assuming they all did, but the answer to your question is "no." Furthermore there's a Codex that implies that they fought among themselves and that not all of them survived that. I'm not going to call that canon since it's been made clear the Codex doesn't have all the answers, but it's yet more reason to say that we can't be sure there's a total of seven (or six, since what happened to Cory is almost certainly a death sentence) left.

It's highly possible that the Magisters who did return to the mortal plane came back with different abilities along with their tainted selves. The body hopping might be unique to Corypheus.

That's a good question. Why he's absent, and how could the Architect hide in the dark for centuries and how did the Wardens haven't caught him (assuming he was never imprisoned).

We only know that some returns since we saw them (Corypheus, the Architect) with our own eyes, but it was never implied all of them came back or most of them never came back out. I suppose we'll see in the future.

It also would make sense. He was a conductor :P hopefully their special ability will be unique to the role they played in the ritual.

He can "conduct" his essence into other bodies?

And if the other magisters are still running around, hopefully they do some cool, unique stuff too.

XD I know it's a reach but hell anything that means they don't all have it.

Yep. Just not the body hopping. It was lucky enough Cory was a idiot the first time. I'm not gonna buy it happening again.

Good...very good. I really hope BioWare saw your post and take note of this, as I was hoping the Magisters who returns came back with different unique abilities. It's creative and more interesting when each magisters who return have different abilities. Also, I don't think I can handle another body hopping tainted magister, the thought of killing them again and again and again is going to make my head explode.

I kinda figured and hope that the Architect survives even if the players chose to kill him

Hopefully, they can get creative, if this is the route they wish to pursue.

I have no clue at all what their unique powers might be though.

For the Architect though...what if he was the one who engineered the rift/portal that the group used to cross the Veil.

Maybe his powers now include the creation of magical constructs?

Corypheus body hopping isn't really that unique, since it's pretty much like the Archdemons expect he can do it with Grey Wardens also

While it could be pretty fun to read, I doubt it happened canonically. My understanding is that the two were afraid of each other and the other High Priests, and for good reason considering how cutthroat that level of Tevinter society is. The reason Corypheus went by that name instead of his real one, as I understand it, was because he was afraid that the Architect (or one of the others) would try to murder him in his bed. (Though I think this does leave room for the Architect and the Conductor to secretly be friends as their real identities, and only keep the pretense up for the benefit of the priests they didn't trust.)

And you just have to go and bring reality into this.  -_-

Seriously?! BioWare. If we killed him, then let the dead character stay dead. How many times you're going to retcon everything for the sake of the current story.

It would be nice, but with the resurrection of Leliana I expected no less from Bioware ... I refute any argument that says for example: ''if you dont have Leliana, would not have plot.'' BioWare could well put another character in place for those who killed Leliana, and for those who did not kill, she continues. As the Architect probably come back at some important moment, I doubt that he died in fact. The explanation for the survival of this is not bad, I liked it, I hope the Architect to do the same as the Corypheus (he explodes a warden or darkspawn and emerge from his blood)

For what it's worth, we have developer assurances that this won't happen. (What that's actually worth I suppose we'll see at some important moment.)
