Even high dragons are less dangerous in melee than this thing. I got to the end of The Cold Endured and boy did he give me a rude awakening. I did manage to kill him through a lot of grenades (both fire and bees) and sandbag reviving, but I couldn't keep my guys alive in melee range at all (which would be ok if not for 3 of my party being melee fighters). The revenant's move where he slashes several times rapidly would seriously kill my warriors even from full guard and hp, or come very close. Both are 2H so I tried block and slash only to find out it only blocks the first hit..... then you still eat the next 3 or w/e and die. And it seems impossible to avoid the AOE since he's normal sized instead of huge like a dragon.

Again, was able to beat him with cheesy stuff, but ewwww. How do live against this thing as a melee fighter? Do you just plain have to go sword & board for shield wall? I haven't seen this level of nonsense from any other kind of enemy O__o

Hehe, yep they hit really freaking hard with that triple-attack.  Probably the only way to survive is to hit invulnerability when it starts (Fade Cloak, Walking Fortress, etc.) or just get out (Fade Step, Evade, Combat Roll, etc.).

I've always had an SnS warrior in the party, so yeah, they work against it.  Then I walk behind him and stab him in the butt.

Revenants are always dangerous. If i ever see them you kill them ASAP or they will ruin your day.

In my opinion, the revenants in DAI are too easy. At least on normal difficulty. I managed to kill all but one before I even found out that you need to farm them for their hearts. They just got chopped up amongst the other enemies, until I got the schematic and realized that darn, there are actually revenants in this game.

I've always liked Revanants, and DA:I's did not disappoint. They hit very very hard. The key is to make sure your tank is in melee range then kill them ASAP. It helps that they are vulnerable to fire.

Once you've mastered the combat, the hard part isn't the Revanants themselves. It's the fact that you have to ignore the Arcane Horrors and Terror Demons while you kill the Revenants. I swear that one rift in the Exalted Plains is the hardest one in the game.

Nevertheless, I'm not sure even Revenants can dish out the sustained melee DPS of the Great Bear.

What schematic?  Am I missing something awesome?

The one that requires Revenant hearts. I believe its Superb Cleansing Rune.

But those are much easier to stop. Just have aggro and be in melee range.

Yea the Arcane Horror's death ray is obnoxious too, but at least you can stack spirit resistance against that. There doesn't seem to be any way to tank the Revenant's attack and live, your only options are GTFO the way or die (I guess Flask of Frost might let you live while it's up). On Nightmare at least, it's probably more survivable on low difficulty.

Depends on what is tanking it. My SnS Champion or my KE can easily tank Revenants on nightmare.

I don't know.  In DAO revenants would strike fear into me.  In this game not so much.  They need to be scarier, and not just in the rifts.

Quoted for great justice. I still remember the first time I ran into one, in the Circle tower, he wiped me so many times before I ended up kiting and potion spamming for hours. Ah, happy memories. I find arcane horrors are tougher in inquisition than they were in Origins (thank you, mana clash), but not quite as bad as in DA2. And nowhere near as bad as the Sky Horror in MotA. Screw that guy. >>

I just have Blackwall aggro, then I do one full dragon-rage (end of all animations before resetting,) and he's finished on NM.

I agree too !

1st time I saw a revenant in DAI I was scared, tought it was gonna be a massacre, reload, plan, use tactics, then another wipe like DAO revenants could be especially on low levels. But then it was " -what - dead?"

After my party got their specializations they go down very fast without much pausing or tactics- I play on hard though, nightmare might be a very different story :D . (got 2 riftmages, Varrick and either Blackwall or Bull in party usually.)

Still, nice to see those guys in DAI, but I think buffing some of them up a bit might be an idea, at least for hard and normal.

Ah the 1st revenant in Origins I found, good times, enough to be silly, then reload ad wait for higher level..

Yeah I was expecting to be mass pulled, and tossed around the battle field like a rag doll.  Killed them so fast, I don't even know if they have that effect in this game.

It's funny because, they technically have the same moveset.  They do have mass pull (they will use it if everyone is at range) and single pull, but I think, you, like me, have a healthy dose of respect for Revenants stemming from having played Origins, and so immediately give them your full attention only to realize that the PC this time around is probably the most OP it's ever been.  I don't think Revs got weaker, we got stronger, and anyone who properly knows what Revenants do and how to fight them will steamroll them.
