I found the Revenants in this game to be a pushover. DA:O Revenants were scary but in Inquisition they were pretty wimpy.
Revenant damage = O__o

Again.
if they come from a fade rift and have despair demons as back up
you are going to have a bad time

First one I ran into was from a rift in Fallow Mire and had a despair demon.Thought to myself it was going to be a hard fight, spanked them both with no problem.

Wait until you get to fight a level 20 one in a temple...
With dozens of level 20 skeletons(a lot archers) to help it.

It bugs me that in games making a hard fight has just become "throw in some adds."

Why? You can save the rifts until after Skyhold.

First playthough. Level six, in the Fallow Mire. Rift in a clearing. Rev spawns.
I'm ashamed to say that it's the one time I had to turn the difficulty down.
It DESTROYED my party. I've had easier times with dragons, for heaven's sake.

Fallow mire is level 10... why'd you be there at 6?

Just because something is recommended doesn't mean it's mandatory? I went there at about 6 the first time, simply because I didn't know the level range, I quickly left, but that's fine too.
As for Revenants... they are way easier than in previous games because they don't stun spam. Sure they still pull but unlike in DAO the pull doesn't knock you on your ass for 5 seconds. And unlike DA2 they don't spawn immediately after the last mob in a wave died, yank your mage over, and stun it to death.
Sure they hit hard in DAI, but that's about it. Also they have partial Frost damage IIRC so frost resist helps if you are having trouble.

I used to get owned by them really hard in dragon age origins, so I wasn`t expecting anything less than this hahaha

I remember fighting a Revenant in the Fallow Mire. It was one of the more difficult encounters I've fought. I even had to use a potion......
DAO Revs were much more challenging. I remember the hairs on the back of my neck standing up when they appeared as I knew I was in for a challenge!

I just have Blackwall aggro, then I do one full dragon-rage (end of all animations before resetting,) and he's finished on NM.
Now come on, once you've reached the point of unlocking everything in your specialty tree, it really doesn't matter anymore.

I did the same thing except with whirlwind in the mire
Just let your tank aggro and you can either focus on the revenant or the ranged demons/adds

Was my first ever run through of the game, so was a little unsure as to what the area required of me.
Now I know better... although I still think you might be overestimating it a little. You sure it's level ten? I usually go there at eight, nine tops.

Because most enemies there are level 6 and the level 12 archers can be avoided by not going into the deep end of the pool.

they always were pain in the arse. in DA:O tho it was AoE pull, if it was followed by melee slash = instant party death. loved them to bits because of that! they are revenants, they should be one of most dangerous enemy there is! positioning and timing was crucial to survive fights with them. DAI... seems like it's pulling one target only, quite lame with two barrier mages :/

Not really, 3 mages and 3 dispels can make a revs day very bad ![]()

I have no problem with them now. I just use ranged attacks and wait for it to be stupid enough to use that spell that brings me close then I wallop it. You time it right you can keep them on their heels. What I hate is being attacked by a herd of brontos.

i remember one fade rift in exalted plains... revenant and despair demon were meh... but there was an arcane horror. i didn't let this one go, after four attempts (run away, restock potions and go back) the rift was finally closed... i really wanted that veridium ore ![]()

heh, just finished my dwarf NM PT with 3 mages and my dwarf dw rogue, closing rifts was a cake walk with that crew.
