Source? I heard they recorded lines for both Ashley and Kaidan romances but they recorded every line that a Shepard could say. For example, Mark Meer has recorded lines when Harkin calls a Femshep stuff like princess.

So changing someone's sexuality from straight to bisexual is better?

No and I never said that but chaning someone from bi to straight is just as wrong.

I wasn't saying you said that, but just that is what it appears they did instead. Sorry if it seemed like I was accusing you.

Its alright, its hard to tell the tone of people on the internet since its all in text. I just think that if he was bi from the start they should have kept him like that and just ignored the haters.

Really? I'm not sure it is, I always thought it was a cloth vest over a plate, the fabric doesn't have the Templar's patten on it in, it's just a golden brim with a second wavy line,  the metal plate has no sword decoration and the pauldrons are different shape.

It's the same pauldrons as the massive version of the Templar armor from DA:O, only slightly smaller and their sides swapped. They are slightly obscured by the fur, which is holding up the ends of his Templar skirt, but if you released them, they certainly look like they would reach the ground in the same profile as the templar skirts.

The Romance options in this one are probably some of the worst...especially for the female Inquisitor. Someone that's at least twenty years or more older

Twenty years older than who? Non-human Inquisitors can plausibly be any age between twenty and forty. (It's a bit trickier for humans because of their backstory.) They could easily be just a few years younger than Blackwall.

(Not that there's anything wrong with a May-to-September romance between a younger Inquisitor and a hot faux Warden, of course.)

Nothing is better when dating an older man than finding out he's a murdering identity thief!

Quoted for truth!

(No, seriously. I worked out Blackwall's deal early in the romance, and my reaction was 'THIS IS GOING TO BE EVEN MORE GLORIOUSLY ANGSTY THAN I ANTICIPATED!!!' I was no disappointed.)

I don't think you are. My dorf didn't romance ANYBODY, even though he flirted with Dorian some and Giselle shared rumours they were dating. Not only should you still be able to lock in with someone else, I didn't lock with anybody and still was fine. (Josie came to dance, not Dorian.)

The Hearts may count as flirts, but imo some of the lines aren't super flirty. It may be seen more as (and I prefer to see it as) a 'warning', if you like, that it will lead to romance content for people who are afraid of gay/hate straight oppression. Sort of a way for Bioware to cover their bases from the masses who complained about Anders.

Some of the lines I think of less expressing interest in them and more of allowing them to develop interest for you, seeing as you're such a charming fellow.

As for Anders....I'll grant that 1:direct flirt, 2:coy flirt, 3:I HATE YOU was a poor line of choices, but I still like NPCs - even non-compatible NPCs - to express their own interest apart from what the PC wants. People afraid of Anders has made it so the writers will never have NPCs flirt/initiate again. THANKS GUYS. Now a shy PC will never feel surprised by being wanted, or having others woo them - instead they pursue whoever they want and their target complies. You turned the romances in a hunt for tail.

ugh if Bioware is uncomfortable writing their romances then hire a writer who is not, seriously its something unique to their brand that sets them apart in a dwindling market many people self included enjoy the romances. Obviously they are good enough at it since people love the LI's just doublecheck the break up hook up options

Not everyone playing games is 25...some of us are Blackwall's age (which I would guess to be about 45 or so). Not a grandpa to us! He just has "life experience." :-)

Just an fyi for people commenting "Dur there is a BIG RED HEART, you can't miss it!" For people playing on PC there are also numbers that correspond to the dialog options, so it is entirely possible to pick your lines based on the paraphrase and not be aware of any of the emotion icons.

Also, some of the heart responses do come across as friendly or supportive rather than flirty, so it is understandable that someone would make the OP's mistake.

_____

You are in a rather unfortunate position OP, and it really depends on which heart icon you picked, which I'm not clear on.

The way the Dorian romance works is that certain hearts lead to certain other dialogs.

If you flirted with him previous to his personal quest (which you might not be aware of) and then afterward (back at Skyhold after the tavern) also picked the flirt when he says "Maker only knows what you must think of me now," you initiate the kiss in that scene.

If you previously flirted with him, but did NOT choose the heart when he says the above line, then do the scene with Giselle, on picking the heart option there Dorian is the one who initiates the kiss. This heart option is the one that says "this will start a romance with Dorian."

Fortunately for you, this particular path is buggy and the game does not properly register that the romance has started, so the "this will start a romance with Dorian" button is still there. You might be OK to finish the game with your Cassandra romance, but if it were up to me I would just scrap it and start over -- which is something that I have done, losing dozens of hours because I borked my play in some manner, so this is not an idle suggestion. Dorian doesn't like the idea of interfering if the Inquisitor is already romancing someone else, and will make a comment on that (depending on dialog options,) so you might see something along those lines if you proceed.

Regardless of which of the above paths you took, if you do decide to finish the game and you get a Dorian quest regarding an AMULET, DO NOT DO IT. This is the romance-only quest that triggers the relationship lock-in and/or sex scene. Sadly, you will just have to live with the quest and dialog option being forever open in your quest log, in addition to a guy you have to avoid talking to in Orlais.

All they need to do is implement a "break-up" option all the way through with the romance.

This also allows the "player" or Isabela type person to sleep with as many people as they want without having to deal with the emotional, lovey-dovey stuff.

Also.. I didn't realise Kaiden was originally going to be bi.. What about Ashley?

Is this why they created Liara and made a race that is sexually compatible with all genders and races, so it didn't seem like a "gay/bi agenda"?

Yeah. Over 90% of the context of a message is lost when using text.

I agree. Better for a character to be that way from the beginning than retconning it later.

Until I see a source, I think it was just a misunderstanding of the fact Mark Meer recorded his voice to all of Femshep's lines, including Kaidan's romance.

And no, that is not why they created the Asari. The Asari appeared in pre-release content ever since the beginning, before Ashley did.

This thread is hilarious. Thanks for the laugh, OP!

That's the players fault, a mistake that can happen on the controller as well. Flirting is obvious, so the person can just reload if they're not happy with the result.

The fur thing in some scenes makes him look like the Hunchback of Notre-Dame...

I'm so glad I'm not the only one to have thought this!

(Not that it stops me hitting the Cullen heart option)
