I really love Dwarves as a race, and I especially liked them in Origins.

However, the Qunari in this game look really interesting.  In your opinion, what would be a cooler race for a warrior?  In terms of appearance, animations, storyline, the look of the armor, etc.

Thank you!

I'm partial to the dwarfs because of the Legion of the Dead and over all armor aesthetics.  I found armor on Qunari characters to be disappointing.

I am biased so have to say dwarven warrior, plus with dwarves you get banter about the carta at points and special banter between you and Varric when dealing with the dwarven ruins in the hissing wastes.

Well, Dwarven Warriors get the sweet Legion of the Dead armor special to them.  Qunari get nothing.  And as a playable Qunari, you will never be able to wear a helm.  This isn't a problem if you want a two-handed warrior, but if you want a tank, you're losing out on extra armor.

On another point, Warriors already get massive amounts of physical damage reduction thanks to their heavier armors and the like.  Magic, on the other hand, gives no crap about physical damage reduction, so a dwarf's natural resistance to the stuff is hard to pass up on.  Especially if you are planning a tank character.

Storyline wise, dwarves get nothing, qunari get a few added points with Bull.  That's it.

Well the qunari are new so if you look at it that way...

I played as a qunari sword and shield and found it super fun. But yeah the armors for them were pretty limited.

I like the qunari background more.

However, qunari have a lot of armor restrictions.

My preference would be qunari warrior, dwarf rogue, but if you want more access to armors, then maybe you would prefer dwarf warrior.

Agreed, as you get better armors, the melee defense on qunari becomes moot, but 25 percent resistance to all magic is pretty godly no matter how you slice it. My only issue with qunari is that it seems that certain armors bug out when using them, at least in my game for some reason. Their arms look disjointed and their hands deform (seems especially problematic when wearing prowler armor) Qunari get a few extra lines with Bull but it's pretty much what you expect since you're not actually qunari, so no idea why the game keeps calling you one. You're not even Tal-Vashoth since it's made clear your character has never even lived under the qun before so you can't exactly be a rebel against something you were never part of. Dwarves don't get much special interaction either, not like the dalish for instance. but as others have said, you get to use the legion of the dead heavy armor which looks cool, even if the stat slots aren't that great.

If you like being a tank, I'd suggest to go for dwarven warrior- weapon & shield - champion specialization. You'll be unstoppable and look amazing in your legion of the dead armor.

Dwarf. Tons of dwarf dialogue and references. Other than the begining of dao the most immersive experience yet. I went 2 handed reaver. Its a lot easier in the character creator to make a tough looking dwarf over a quanari. American accent perfect for dwarf

I love my dwarf rogue, and think she fits it much better with the Carta background.  For the same reason I like a Qunari Mage -- since our Qunari is Tal-Vashoth anyway, a mage would be free, not bound up with a sewn mouth.  Just seems better overall for the story.

I definitely agree with the sentiment that the Legion of Dead armor is one of the best looking in the whole game and still very useful since it's tier 3.

I've played both a dwarf warrior and a qunari warrior. They both have pros and cons.

The biggest con for a qunari is the armor restriction. You'll be getting frustrated pretty quick that they aren't able to wear about half the armors in the game. It's even more annoying if you have a qunari without horns that is unable to wear a helmet... What's up with that?!

The biggest con for a dwarf is mostly cut scenes that don't take into account their size. They are sometimes way on the bottom of the screen, and sometimes you can barely see them. Though sometimes it does add to unintended comedy when they hit the Iron Bull in the danglebag...

This. The Qunari look really great in Inquisition but their armor restrictions ruins the experience. A huge failing on Bioware's part.

Dwarf by far, you get Legion armor and 25% magical resist is pretty darn OP

They shall learn to fear the beard.  For any dwarf worth his weight in lyrium must have a beard.  I will take no exceptions!

...'Cept perhaps Sandal.  Sandal's cool.

-Dwarf has a strange walk to him and it's hard making a good looking face on one and he's super stocky.

-Qunari as a warrior with a 2 hander just looks fantastic and the horns and faces look much better imo.

If I could make my dwarf look closer to Thorin Oakenshield, I'd go for it

Some of The war paint/helmet of Qunari look pretty silly. I enjoyed being a thuggish master manipulator warrior woth American accent. If you ****** off a companion enough that they leave, the scene that plays out is pretty funny as a dwarf. I'm not sure it would feel quite the same as a Qunari.

Dwarves get way more armor choices, hairstyles, and get to have actual tattoos and helmets. <3

Dwarves easily. If the awesome armour and 25% magic resistance dont it for you, awesome beards and actual hairstyles might.

It's a hard one.

Qunari and dwarves are my two favourites... humans in third place, then lastly elves.

Dwarves are good for magical resistance, and if you take a fancy to a background history of being a carta thug. Contrary to what many people are saying, I thought it was quite easy to create a decent looking dwarf, both female and male.

Only down side really is feeling... inadequate, during romances. ;)

I also noticed that dwarves seem to be a lot faster, getting around in the open world.

Qunari is great, particularly for the warrior class because you receive a physical bonus, plus it sort of makes sense, you have the height and the strength, plus you look bad-arse. Qunari also have an interesting background story, with a mercenary company.

But as others have said, the range of armour is horrible and not aesthetically pleasing...

My canon inquisitor is a qunari and he's awesome.  But I have to go with dwarf on this one.  As others have said, the customization is just better for them (more hair, beard, and tattoo options; better armor).  But, to be honest, they are both awesome races (and way better than boring old humans and elves), so you win either way.

Dwarf Templar, go for full stubble and no beard. Watch the nose, though, they base it on the human face, so it's pretty big. Make sure you shrink it.

I'd easily go with dwarven warrior, even outside of my dwarf bias, because of the rad as hell exclusive armor and ability to wear helmets. Dwarf background is also more interesting, IMO.

Qunari is worth playing for sure, but I'd go Mage there, for the ultimate trolling of Andrastrians.
