I want to play a Mage in my second play through but I want to side with the Templars since I haven't done it. Is this possible? And if so does it make any sense?

Yeah, there's nothing stopping you, and mages can be pro-templar so it's no problem really.

Yeah it does make sense. I mean, you have a living example in Vivienne being completely pro templar and not liking the mage rebels. Also, there are two available outcomes with the templars, just like with the mages. Maybe one will make more sense for your mage than the other. I'm going to play as a dalish mage next and plan on choosing the templar mission.

That's how I played my first game. Going into it, I didn't know which side I was going to choose, or even that I had to choose. After the way I always played both Origins and DA2, if someone had told me I would pick the templars over the mages, I would have said, "now you're talking crazy talk." In the end, siding with the templars made more sense to me.
I'm in my second game now, and I went with the mages, and it also makes sense to me... sort of.
