My favorite is My character( obviously )who is a S & S with the Reaver Class Special. Blackwall for tanking, Sera forArchery and her class specialization, and Solas.

Knight Enchanter with Blackwall, Sera and Vivienne.

Mainly based on survivability while has Sera to deliver damage and in some case finish off those dragons with thousands cuts.

Archer Assassin, Solas, Dorian, and Sera. Dragon go boom. I thought four ranged characters would be a catastrophe. It is so much fun! All that magic and arrows flying every where. This has become my Dragon slaying A team.

And yes, four ranged crew works on Nightmare. Tested with great results.

My s/s templar, because he always wanted to fight a dragon as a child. Plus he has to go everywhere, duh!

Cassandra, because she freaking eat dragons for breakfast, plus I'm in love with the fact that Cassandra is fighting dragons side by side with her lover.

Dorian, because he looks like the type of guy that wants to fight a dragon and go back to tell his friends about it, and he's the bro!

Varric, because I need to give him new material for his books, plus I want him to write all about how I took on a Dragon with my lover. 

Cole, because he fought the arch-demon in the fade, and besides he's still my little brother that I have to look out for, so what better way to bond with him than the old fashioning dragon hunting.

It'll probably contain Sera and Bull from now on since they both seem to get boners from dragonslaying and I live to please my companions.

Me as a Rogue, Varric, Sera and either Solas or Cole.
That way every dragon fight becomes a pissing contest.

Blackwall, Sera, and Cole work out well for me. I was running a mage (necromancer) on my first playthrough. Heh, I'm still a mage on my second playthrough - KE this time, though.

I've noticed the same reasons as well.

Cassandra because she simply destroys everything and everyone, and she's Quizzy's lover too

Dorian is teh bro, he and Quizzy would go into hell, together. Brother in arms.

Varric because he's too much awesome and I need those dialogues with Cassandra Everyone needs a dwarf with that much of swag, Ha!

If I'm not playing on Nightmare then Iron Bull is mandatory for his remarks and comments on dragons. Unfortunately he's quite the 'nightmare' (pun intended) when playing on said difficulty because he gets wrecked. 

 

I did my initial play-through on Nightmare as an archer rogue, my general all-round super team was Blackwall, Solas and Dorian/Vivienne (can't decide on which lol). When it comes to dragons I'd emphasize on Blackwall because he does a better job at tanking in single target fights due to his skills, Cassandra on the other hand is more of a 'team tank' if that makes sense and operates better when fighting multiple regular enemies.

From Dorian fine taste in robes to Varric's chest hair, we have a lot of swag to take on any dragon! Cespar literally saw Cassandra picked her teeth with the dragon's claw! He bow down to her and asked for her hand in marriage when he witnessed such a feat.

Mine always was Cassandra (she nearly did them all alone), Solas and Iron Bull, my main char is an archer, worked perfect for me on difficult nightmare

KE Quizzy because really that's all it takes, Cassandra because I love her, Dorian because I love him.

 

Bull because one time he gushed at the pub about how great it was to have slain that one dragon with me. That was awkward because I had never taken him dragon slaying before. My Inquisitor sat there guzzling down his alcohol out of embarrassment and silently promised himself to retroactively take Bull dragon hunting.

 

Anyway... he proved to kind of suck at the staying alive part, so reading this thread it sounds like Sera might be a good replacement.

Oh, so other people have experienced that IB is quite useless in dragon fights?

He's always dead within minutes during my battles. Ironic, really... unless I'm not building his skills/abilities right.

Not your build, Bull just isn't very good in dragon fights.

But if you bring him with Sera or Varric you can just let them solo it in seconds and still get approval.

IB always stays on but the last two are interchangable
