I don't see frostbite as being as versatile as you think. It's cross platform which in itself suggests compromise. I just don't think you're going to see a ground up AAA PC title very soon. Compromise is the name of the game. Much more money and gears in the machine than the wild west of PC. I'd rather it the way it stands than to have the EA's and Steam's of the world compartmentalize my gaming. Because it's going that way before too long.

Oh, believe me, I'm not happy with Frostbite in any way. I'd rather they had developed the game for PC and then ported it to consoles instead of this... mess.

...........

You have completely missed my point. Nevermind! You carry on with you anger and vitriol, my energy is worth more than being drawn into a never-ending loop with a school boy.

The first thing I did was changing the keybindings. I am not saying -I- am having problems, but I know several people who do. Is there a reason why you are so aggressive and condescending? It surely doesn't help you to get taken seriously. Borderline troll.

Debatable? Sure. You should debate it with the old gen console gamers.

This game isn't even remotely optimized for PC. If you have a PC that is way better than the minimum specs, you'll likely have no problems except for the DirectX 11 issue when you try for ultra settings.

X-Box One and PS4 have similiar hardware: custom 1.75/1.66 GHz 8 core AMD CPU, custom AMD Radeon GPU, 8 GB DDR3/5 RAM.

Considering that the console OS uses up to 3.5 GB of RAM for itself, can someone explain to me why the specs for PC are so much higher? It certaintly explains why they are pushing AMD's Mantle on PC though.

DA:I was optimized for AMD hardware, using Mantle. DirectX/NVIDIA has problems.

Rest of the thread:

There is a difference between "I'm having a few issues with the game" and "I can't finish the game because of issues.", true. But telling people they shouldn't complain because they are only a minority... seriously, do I need to explain why that's wrong?

Why do people think this is different because it's a game? Is this not a product purchased with money?

If a car company had some problems during production and 5% of the cars produced on that line had a transmission that would lock up after 1000km, would you still tell the customers that it's not a big issue, because almost all the other cars aren't having problems?

An issue that doesn't affect you personally can still be a real problem for other people.

I'm finding it utterly funny that now, six months down the line, all these advocates of "there's nothing wrong with the game" have jumped ship like so many drowning rats. The irony is almost poetic in its essence. Inspiring. Me, to laugh, mainly.

If that meant ending up being a port like Origins, then I'd have to say no thank you. Origins was fine and good, but certain things, rather important things, were totally missing from that game on console.

Since I play exclusively on PC, that wouldn't bother me. ;)

Heh, no seriously... a proper port is more than adapting the controls. No platform should be getting less but they could get different versions of the game.

I never played DAO on PC, always on console, so I'd definitely appreciate knowing what important things I've missed and don't know I have. All I know I've missed is certain banter options and certain different chit-chat scenes, but that's more based on my companion choices than anything else. Also, Sten has a beard. I was surprised to find that out. What else did I miss?

The fact that it's your first Dragon Age and Bioware games is why you enjoyed it.  Those of us who've experienced the quality of games they put out in the past are mostly left with bitter disappointment.

Glad you enjoyed the game.

You're a wise man fardreamer.

Still here; missed me, I gather....

Jaws of Hakkon was pretty great; for lore, character insights, and challenging battles. Added a good bit to the end game side of things.

You should seriously get Dragon Age Origins... Play that for a while and then come back to play this game. Compare the two and see how long your 100% happy customer status drops.

I played DAO after DAII, mainly to get a better grip on story and lore, and I have to say I, personally think DAII  is the better game.

@OP, glad you enjoyed the game. I enjoyed too, especially in my first playthrough, and I still do, even if on a more closer look it does have flaws, most of them regarding "story implementation". My advice, would be to try other BW games too, but don't let other influence you opinion of them :)

Being my first time stepping into a Dragon Age game or even a Bioware title I'm pleased to say amazing work! Haven't had but minor bugs that didn't affect my session an most the scenery is breathtaking. Combat is simple but enjoyable and I don't feel like I'm button mashing even though it has somewhat limited choices. Quests are not huge to the point that I struggle to finish an even though a few are fetch missions they don't feel entirely boring like some games (ESO). Something about this game strikes me just the right way an I would willingly buy a sequel or DLC based off what I've seen so far. (PS4 Owner)

Glad for you. There's actually upcoming DLC "Jaws of Hakkon" (release date is May, 26th).

About the game and the comparison to the other two in the series, all are great, all are different.

And after this discussion you might reconsider visiting the forum.

I believe this next release is for some consoles; the former one was for the PC.

Xbox One and PC got it in March because of the Microsoft timed exclusive deal. Everyone else gets it next week.

I'm glad you had fun OP.  Never mind some of the nay sayers.  As long as you had fun, that's all that matters.  By the way, if you do get into the other DA games or into ME (which I would recommend as well,) feel free to PM me if you're on the PC.  I can recommend some good mods to you.  I don't build them, but I use a fair amount of them, and I'll happily give you tips for the different games.

In the meantime, I hope you keep enjoying DA:I.  Please, check out BioWare's other games.  You won't be disappointed either.   Here, hug a nug!

I thoroughly enjoyed DAO when I played it (multiple times). But since playing DA2 and DAI, DAO drags and is cumbersome. Still a wonderful game. It just slogs along.
