Ok, sorry about any and all spelling and grammatical errors, english isn't my first langage.
I got DAI a month ago and this is probably the first and last time I will take the time to gripe online about a product.
Don't get me wrong:DAI isn't a horrible game: it feels like a let down.
Look, the main quest storyline is good, and the universe's lore is still as gripping as it was in the first two games.
But the amazing interaction with party members? Not completely gone, but far from being as well written and there does seem to be a lot less of it. The storyline?Same thing. Quirky side quests? One or two of those in the whole game. Conversation with NPCs/Part members, etc? There is very little of it considering the size of the game world.
I was really wary of the "open world/customisation is everything" orientation, and apparently, for good reason.
Combat mechanics were fun in DAO and, even if I get the criticism they received, were still fun in DA2, albeit very, very different.
For the first time in the franchise, combat doesn't look good, 90% of the time I can't even tell what I'm fighting, and worse, it isn't fun anymore.
I was kinda wondering WHO enjoys trading storytelling (wether from quests, party members, NPCs) for neverending fetch quests , mounts, crafting, romance options and hours of trudging though (admitedly beautiful) maps, but apparently, every skyrim or MMO player.
I didn't get people who were gripping a lot about the lack of open world and the "everything in Ferelden is brown" in DAO because everything was engaging.
I didn't get why people were criticizing DA2 that much: sure, there were reused maps and it had a very different feel but it was a very good story.
DAI feels like a chore: I cannot bring myself to care about my inquisitor nor about the companions: very little dialogue and background did not help. The story is supposedly more "epic", what with facing a worldwide threat and all, but the game is a large and beautiful BORE.
Immersion isn't being able to customize your room, isn't about being able to make 458 different choices, isn't about the size of a map, it's about how much you feel invested in the story and characters, and in this regard, DAI fails completely, and I am really worried that this is the future of the franchise and from now on there will only be bland open mapped MMO-likes.
