Ok, sorry about any and all spelling and grammatical errors, english isn't my first langage.

I got DAI a month ago and this is probably the first and last time I will take the time to gripe online about a product.

Don't get me wrong:DAI isn't a horrible game: it feels like a let down.

Look, the main quest storyline is good, and the universe's lore is still as gripping as it was in the first two games.

But the amazing interaction with party members? Not completely gone, but far from being as well written and there does seem to be a lot less of it. The storyline?Same thing. Quirky side quests? One or two of those in the whole game. Conversation with NPCs/Part members, etc? There is very little of it considering the size of the game world.

I was really wary of the "open world/customisation is everything"  orientation, and apparently, for good reason.

Combat mechanics were fun in DAO and, even if I get the criticism they received, were still fun in DA2, albeit very, very different.

For the first time in the franchise, combat doesn't look good, 90% of the time I can't even tell what I'm fighting, and worse, it isn't fun anymore.

I was kinda wondering WHO enjoys trading storytelling (wether from quests, party members, NPCs) for neverending fetch quests , mounts, crafting, romance options and hours of trudging though (admitedly beautiful) maps, but apparently, every skyrim or MMO player.

I didn't get people who were gripping a lot about the lack of open world and the "everything in Ferelden is brown" in DAO because everything was engaging.

I didn't get why people were criticizing DA2 that much: sure, there were reused maps and it had a very different feel but it was a very good story.

DAI feels like a chore: I cannot bring myself to care about my inquisitor nor about the companions: very little dialogue and background did not help. The story is supposedly more "epic", what with facing a worldwide threat and all, but the game is a large and beautiful BORE.

Immersion isn't being able to customize your room, isn't about being able to make 458 different choices, isn't about the size of a map, it's about how much you feel invested in the story and characters, and in this regard, DAI fails completely, and I am really worried that this is the future of the franchise and from now on there will only be bland open mapped MMO-likes.

This is the first time we get a big world to explore with a story so i think it is a good attempt and i think there will be improvements with patches and DLC’s so i am not that disappointed.
I love big games with a story and hope Bioware continues with the way DAI was made as long as they improve with more experience.

We have TW3 coming out soon with another big world with a story and hope that is also a good game.

good attempt? Well, yes and no. Graphics wise, sure.

Universe wise, story and dialogue wise, emotional investment of the player wise, no, this is a massive **** up.

(For the sake of fairness, I'm only comparing DAI to DA 2 , Origins, and ME and not taking previous games or RPG PC games into account...and my point remains valid :(  )

Feel free to look into. http://forum.bioware...y-final-review/

Pretty like my POV (with more positive emotional feedback I guess).

Anyway, welcome to the club. We offended players don't use member cards yet, but it's an idea since we're growing in numbers, hmm..

Thanks, your post said it much more eloquently!

I feel weird posting since I usually do not get involved at all in online communities: I game a lot but don't get involved with  gaming communities: the levels of outrage sometimes seem a bit...intense (I mean, on consoles, it is really rare for a game to be bugged to the point where it really diminishes my enjoyment, and on PC, it's easier to just go straight to modding instead of waiting/clamoring to have it fixed)

Plus, the requests of the community seem to be part of the problem, which I can't help resenting right now: a lot of the requests I saw when DA2 came out  have been implemented here, and instead of cool and interesting lore,  background, characters and meaningful choices (quests outcomes in DAO felt important ), we have a bazillion crafting, romance and customisation options and a huge open world that is empty and lifeless.

The devs have implemented the suggestions of the majority and made a game similar to EVERY OTHER RPG. Which I probably wouldn't mind if what was interesting in DA didn't get thrown out the window in the process.

The fact that I feel so disapointed in something I was really looking forward to and really, really TRIED to enjoy says a lot about this game.

I won't even start another playthrough on this one.

Really, really worried that story driven RPGs won't be seen again.

I don't know that DA:I is a massive **** up considering how many hours a lot of us have invested in this game. But, I would agree with you that the game feels lacking in story content. Such a large game and I barely feel like I know my companions and advisors. It's like they ran out of time to flesh things out.

I asked about when the patch would be arriving, since I can't continue the game due to a bug. They deleted that one within minutes. Stunning customer treatment right there.

Thank you, Jack.

Yes, you disappointed customers are spreading far too much anti BW product propaganda. Your comments shall burn.

Asking for a patch because a bug keeps you from progressing in the game, isn't really anti-bioware, though.

Think about it; they don't want clueless, susceptible potential customers to know that the game is bugged as it may persuade them not to buy. ;)

Quite right. But the should keep in mind that they are also pissing in the face of people who have bought the game.

its not a horrible game by any means and in fact there are some parts I really enjoyed, but overall the game is boring. Having to trek across all these big beautiful yet lifeless maps in almost complete silence is mind numbing. I played Skyrim to death with no mods and it never felt like a chore yet whenever I boot up this game it feels like Im going to work....

Such a large game and I barely feel like I know my companions and advisors. It's like they ran out of time to flesh things out.

Many people have played skyrim or MMORPGs, which I was referencing, for hours, so obviously lots of people appreciate those mechanics and bland games with good graphics.

Which is why I didn't rant about Inquisition being "a horrible piece of ****": if you want fetch quests and spawning mobs, I guess it's a good game.

But compared to the previous two DA games, and if story, dialogue and lore is what you loved in the franchise, it's not a good game at all.

(that's the main problem for me: the fact that combat feels like another chore is another. The combat was beautiful and well done and FUN in Origins and in DA2, even if the combat mechanics were very different in both those games)

Regarding bugs: those are fixable, if not by Bioware, at least using mods. But a lack of story and atmosphere...nothing can fix that.

I have mixed feelings, but basically...

No fetch quests ever again please, unless it's fun and actually has a purpose other than raise influence/xp.

And if you're going to release a game, make sure it works properly. Minor bugs aren't really an issue, it's just when it stops you from progressing the game it becomes a problem.

Otherwise, it's okay... could have been so much more, though.

I gave up on my warrior playthrough because of the damn spinning camera. Facing multiple opponents with the camera spinning and the colors everywhere is enough to give a person a seizure. At least with a mage or an Archer you're somewhat further away from the action so the fireworks show is less distracting.

What bug is keeping you from continuing the game? I just read the wiki about some of them. . :(

I thought the game was ok. IMO I loved the story and character interactions. Oh how I could just talk to someone for over an hour long! so fun! To me the combat is pretty much the same as DAII, you hit a button over and over to kill things. I think the combat animations are better in DA:I but that's just me. The tactical combat sucks in the game true enough. honestly IMO I think BioWare deserves some credit for multiple reasons. 1. They didn't have to make the game in the first place to try and please the fan base. 2.They do listen to the fan base whether you people believe it or not. (they made open world DA:I because people complained about DAII being small and confined to a city.) 3. They spent longer time on this game compared to the last DA (people complained it was rushed). 4. Many reviews have rated the game as GOTY 5. this is their first attempt at an open world game, they have to learn from this (IMO I think Inquisition is more of a test so they can get feedback and the next game will be the real polished thing in their open world rpg attempt. 5. They're also using a brand new engine which they had to learn how to use compared to what they originally worked with for years and years. 6. despite the backlash and a few of their key managers and instrumental developers quitting, BioWare has stuck it out and are going to keep doing what they do, trying to make their games to please the fans.
