I must have really bad "in game" luck.  I am a 2HW level 17.  I want some Tier 3 Heavy Armor and 2H Weapon Schematics.  All I get are dagger and dagger components.  I must have 10 hours of game play doing this and I still don't have what I want.  Should I just pick up the dagger stuff so it won't appear again?  Or does it give you a repeat Schematic even if you have it?

Ha, on my rogue playthrough I kept getting 2h schematics and ended up with one crappy Pointed Dual-Blade schematic before I gave up.  That was before I knew about the Hissing Wastes tombs.

You won't get a schematic if you already have it.  Can't you just go to the Hissing Wastes merchant for the regular T3 armor to tide you over until Short List?

Also, the Suledin Keep merchant as the Hossberg Twainer, which is probably the best 2h weapon in the game.

You can play much longer before you get any T3 schematics.

Take a look at the War Table. There are some Inquisition Perks that might help you, under Forces:
Mage Schematics
Rogue Schematics
Warrior Schematics

I spend a point in all three last evening and immediately got a handful of T3 schematics.

I also have a feeling that the The Short List perk under Connections is worth having. In my first playthrough I spend points on these, and as far as I remember this also influence the selection of schematics for sale.

And do as Rynas suggests and visit the merchant in the Hissing Wastes. In all my playthroughs he always had some of the best. They cost a fortune, but they are worth it. If you are a rogue you can easily get to him avoiding any conflict by using cloak.

Here's couple of screenshots from his stock:

Hossberg is pretty good but I was always partial to the ornate battle axe, 2 leather offense slots and 1 cloth.

Those perks give upper tier 2 schematics. Superior armors and masterwork weapons. So not what he wants. Short list is, of course, a must for lots of stuff

I started farming T3 schematics in The Hinterlands at lvl 8 last weekend (I typically only play on weekends). There's a treasure chest in Valamar that spawns them. Got schematics for Battlemage armor, Prowler armor, Battlemaster armor, Dwarven long sword, Dual blade daggers, T3 staff (forget the name), Templar mace, and legs/arm additions for some of the listed armors.

The chest also drops gold/T3 items, so if I don't get a schematic, I get decent money.

I haven't seen any "superior" schematics, but I did find a "sturdy battlemaster" schematic but I couldn't pick it up as it was the only item in the chest and I needed to farm more.

Was at it for about an hour last week to get all this stuff. I'll be sure to keep farming this weekend as well.

Just use CheatEngine. Skip stupid farm and RNG from MMO. Feel like in real normal RPG.

Trust me. I play with CE from start to get materials and scheamtics (I add schematice t1 for 5-10 lvl, t2 for 10-15 lvl and t3 for 15-22 lvl) and I HAD SO MUCH BETTER EXPErIENCe!

I would never finish this game if I'd have to play as intended- deal with RNG and farm like in MMO...

Is it possible to give yourself a custom crafted set of armor through Cheat Engine?
It would be nice to have my favorite armor set from the very start so I can look good in cutscenes :D

I just forgot to mention that the Inquisition perk named 'The Shot List' helps a great deal. So, you are right, Paladin Ryan.

I didn't think about it. It just comes natural for me to have this perk. It does give you a lot more and better schematics.

You can get this by spending an Inquisition Point at the War Table under 'Connetions'.

It does however require that you have 'The Rare Stocks', 'Exacting Buyers' and 'Only the Finest' before you can get it. All in all four points.

Some schematics are not avilable without this perk. There are schematics that only turn up at the merchants if you travel alone (without your team).

Just to refresh memory:

The Rare Stocks
Allows you to buy rare crafting materials.

Exacting Buyers
Allows you to buy high quality crafting materials.

Only the Finest
Allows you to buy top quality crafting materials.

The Short List
Provides you with an access to the rare stock offered by merchants.

Short list does not require any specific perks, only a certain number of Connections perks. 4 or 5 I think. I get it most playthroughs before even getting templars or mages while having invested only one perk into Nobility Knowledge and having 4 agents in connections (speaker anais, skywatcher, barter by belle, and the enchanter). I never waste perk points on the material perks.

Edit: Oh and having your party or being alone has no bearing on what schematics show up. I find the same ones alone as with my party. Often takes some alt+f4 to refresh shop stock and a bit of luck for them to stock something useful but party members have never had any impact.

I got some stuff from the Sulevin Keep Merchant and Hissing Wastes guy.  I want Ornate Battle Axe Schematic.  Heard its good for Crit.  I made a bad ass Serated Greatsword with over 300 dps.  244 base damage.  So I am doing fine, but always looking to get better.
