As I had said before it was announced, Swords and Mauls. Bioware is very predictable.
Next Weekend it will be Pots and Dogs.

I heard that next week would be a repeat of the Christmas weekend for the people that were unable to play due to holiday schedules.

However, it's just what I heard, I don't have any direct evidence to support that.

Exactly. I mean you could make an argument about carrying lowbies for free and easy xp but most people actually play a video game to play a video game. I agree though it's discourteous to roflstomp through routine in a team if you know that you can solo it. I always solo these Weekend Events and you can knock them out in 2 missions.

I think it's a little of both. Casual/new players in any game aren't a monolith who universally resent better-geared players in their games, that's just a myth common to online forums. Just as many of them might enjoy the free carry, while probably the vast majority just don't care about or pay attention to the self-appointed elite as much as these people would like to believe.

OT: "improved loot" in Commendation Chests lol. Although that's the story of my drops overall lately. Between little progress on the RNG front for two weeks, bugs, and friends quitting the game, I've been losing enthusiasm pretty rapidly.

As use of abilities count, 'any' Maul will do...  :D

Got the maul chest: Twin Fangs ring (+30% damage with the ability)

Certainly worth a try, once I get that ability. It could have been Caltrops duration.

Oh lawd. Pot Commander is the ultimate boss, he makes demon commander look like a total scrub.

I did receive some decent items this time, which would have great drops for new players:

lvl 22 rare bow of cruel redemption
Lvl 22 rare maul sundering
Superb belt of staggering

With regard to the maul, I did the challenge with Lvl 18 rare maul smash. Wish I had sundering for that challenge. Mauls...

I just started the MP. I am very aware of RNG trolling having played 1000 hours of me3. But based on this thread it seems like I'm likely to get a rare lvl 20+ item from a commendation chest. I wasn't going to do the challenges but now I guess I should.

I've done every weekend event so far and each chest has given me atlest one level 20+ rare or unique. They're worth doing Imo, but don't expect greatness. They were almost all duplicates of weapons I already have, or worse than what I already have.

I saw  quite a few 16 ,17,18s on lowest level MP maps killing all mobs and poor low level guys (1 to 8) especially melee could not get a kill credit, saw quite a few  low levels  leave, really felt sorry for them and before you ask I was a low level melee guy that got only six kills, sure I could go on my higher level mage and level the playing field  but that defeats the  weekend challenge purpose and not really fair on that map level.

When that was happening to me, I just solo'd routine.

Sure, I usually died in Zone 2 or 3, but since I was getting all the kills, it only took 3 or 4 games to finish each challenge.

So, I FINALLY got something good and decent out of a commendation pack.

Just finished the maul challenge and got my first purple card ever - Bow of the Griffon.

Happy about that!

Now, on to swords...

You can now call me out again, as 100 sword kills just netted me a Serpent's Rage one-handed axe, which my Legionnaire and Templar think is both yummy and delicious.

So, after nothing but salvage for all my commendation packs, both the ones this weekend have been absolutely Fabulous™. :D

Well, the event boxes were a large disappointment, but then I opened another chest with money and finally got the Longbow of the Griffon, which I have no intension to use.

What do you all think will be next week's event? Given that their pattern is complete. Maybe something new like class completions, or character completions? Hopefully a community challenge..

Hmm, got a Bow of Cruel Redemption, which is looking like a minor upgrade over my Perseverance.  Slightly better damage, improved critical damage and chance, moddable, and heal on hit/kill, I forget which.  Looses the 48% flanking bonus, but since I still haven't got a HoK ring, anything of decent strength with healing is good!  Plus, in my opinion, Perseverance looks terrible, so I'm happy to be done with it.

Watch out - Serpents's Rage has berserker attribute if I remember correctly.

Dumb question - what does the berserker attribute mean (it does have it)?

Enemies do 100-200% bonus damage against the character wielding it.

It's... hard to see how it could be worth it, except maybe in SP where you can really load up on defensive abilities.

:crying:

WHY would anyone want that???

*sigh* I have just learned a harsh, harsh lesson. Everything sounded awesome (other than not realizing what "berserk" meant), so I salvaged my old Dwarven Waraxe thinking this would be my "new best axe".

Goddammit.

Dumb, dumb, dumb. Test drive new stuff before salvaging old stuff. Why am I stupid?!

That is very rough.

It may take a while, but you will eventually get one that is better than both... not that it's much comfort at this point.

It's got a damage bonus for and against you. The damage received penalty is quite over the top, but who knows if it will be nice some day with equipment and tweaks.

Don't worry, I did the same thing, saw an axe that was rare, did more base dps then my current axe with a rune on it. so I dismantled my old one, went to check it out and then see what runes I had available and saw berserk.... I almost cried. Thankfully I did find a decent rare, but it's not as good as that common I dismantled.

But keep plugging, I was rewarded with Caliban tonight, you will get a nice replacement eventually.

Yep, I've been there and done that

At least you can equip your best Sword or Mace in the meantime

until you get a better Axe, and you will.
