Just wondering, does Cole make a good archer? I wouldn't mind having him along for a bit but I don't want him as a DW rogue, how does his specialization work with a bow and arrow?

his specialization will work fine. all the actives can use at a distance, well at least the one i used when one of my play throughs as an archer with assassin spec

Yes. Assassins make for very fine archers indeed, in both player and computer hands.
I'd say speccing him as an Archer was near mandatory if micro-management/tactics screen are not your thing. The AI is useless with daggers.

Thirded, Hidden Blades and MoD are both ranged attacks and the Dagger Cole is a walking corpse at melee range, but an ace with the bow.
