A Mass Effect lore compendium, like "The World of Thedas"?

I'm a huge Mass Effect fan (and by extension a Bioware fan) and I love to read about the lore of the Mass Effect universe.

Recently I have started getting into and playing Dragon Age and I have been reading the marvellous compendium that is Dragon Age: The World of Thedas, Volume 1 to help me get my head round the lore and I have been loving it!

Which got me thinking: what about a similar book for the Mass Effect series? I mean, there's one for Dragon Age already out with a second volume in the pipeline, plus a certain MMORPG studio has recently announced a similar book for one of their games. So why not release a Mass Effect one?

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

While I agree that that would be a good idea, this might be better off in the Mass Effect feedback section.

I realised that not long after I posted this.

I haven't read any of the Mass Effect books, but this could be cool to have. In Dragon Age: The World of Thedas, is that purely codex style entries, or do they touch on events in game? Given that the implications (at least) of the ending in Mass Effect were pretty different, I'd wonder how they might implement that, if at all.

Also if they made one, how far back do you think they'd go? I know in game part of the story was the mystery of what happened to the past civilizations. And their remnants (Leviathan, for example).

I suppose it doesn't matter, they do have a lot to work with without all the ancient history :P but I'd definitely love to see one of these as well.

The games themselves detail pretty definitively what happened to past civilizations.

Why?  They'd need a new edition after every game, the lore gets retconned so often.

That's what the codex is for.

You'd get more out of the book than you would in the game, since there is always a limit on how much lore you can cram into a single game. Obviously it wouldn't be for everyone...but I'd purchase it.

My thoughts exactly. Also I prefer reading from a book (be it in print or an ebook) rather than reading codex entries in the game itself.
