I've always done the puzzles and talked to Abelas during What Pride Had Wrought, but tempted to jump down the hole this time just to do something different. I've tried googling but is there any other downside end-game other than losing Solas' approval and fighting the elves by jumping down the hole and skipping the ritual?

I did that on one of my Dalish elves...she's impatient.

Never skipped the puzzles myself, they are pretty easy, just a nuisance though.

Yeah it's not that they are hard, just at this point I'm trying to do everything different since it's my third character, and that's kind of the point of multi playthroughs right? Just wanted to make sure it doesn't ruin something.

The one where you have to open the gate to get to the other half of it made me stop and think for a moment though, admittedly. That was the only remotely difficult one. :S

I'll take the plunge with my fem qunari though she's pretty impatient so it will fit, all my elves respected the temple though.

Skipped them with my 'evil' character, you can't side with the elves and they fight you. You also go through a different dungeon with enemies. Basically you have to fight through them. Also Abelas goes to destroy the well at the end and gets killed.

Funny, that was the only one i could do without thinking.
But I had my problems with the other ones -
..everybody is different

Annnnnd that ensures I will never jump down the hole. That's sad ![]()

OMG - I wanted to kill my companions...they wouldn't stay off the puzzles and I kept stepping on the wrong squares. I have since learned that "hold position" on the radial menu does f-all...tactical cam, and tell each to hold position. Since I'm playing a Dalish this time, she will do the puzzles (sigh...again), but third time, I'm jumpin'!

My elf female will jump down cause it's a funny contrast to my human who respected the ritual.
Solas will greatly disapprove most likely lol! ![]()
She's not my canon so I'm gonna just go wild.

I jumped and was glad because the content was entirely different. Me likey more content. I also liked arguing about it with Solas (we were still besties after - until, you know). It did suck that Abelas gets shivved, though.

Prefer the nonskip version, tbh, because Abelas is cool, but I enjoy it as a choice.

You'll be attacked by Vints and sentinels but that's about it.

In my first few playthroughs I jumped through, but not to be a dick. I always had someone in my party that argued not wasting soldiers lives on a puzzle when the way forward was clear enough.
But after having done the puzzles it's become my favorite option, at least you get the option to ally the elves then.
