I've been meaning to upgrade my 6850, especially ever since I played DA:I and common sense would be for me to just go and buy a GTX 970 but with all these semi-confimed rumors about stacked memory on the new AMD series make me really think I should I wait for the rumored launch of the R9 380x in Feb/March, its also rumored to require 300w which is kind of crazy.
I feel like I've been waiting forever...

I definitely am not, already upgraded. Though I may again in a couple years who knows.
It's gonna be a beast for sure, but I have my 970s in SLI so I'm good for quite a long time now. But the 390x is gonna be a beast for sure. Thing with AMD is that crossfire is not as good as SLI and their driver support isn't on par with nvidia either. And they don't have things like shadow play or physx, but they have solved the heat issues with their higher end cards for quite some time now, and they really do make very powerful high end cards.
