Hey!

I am about to craft my new armor and I can choose masterly items for it. There's a dragontooth and it says "40% chance to be masterpiece". I don't know what that means ,so can anyone of you explain this to me ,please?

When you hit "craft" there is a 40% chance that item stats (depends on what other materials you have used) will be increased by 10%.

For example, a 100 armor rating vest with +10 to Strength, would become 110 AR with +11 to Str.

I gives you a 40% chance that your crafted item's stats are improved by 10%. This only affects the core armor/weapon, not attached upgrades.

So to achieve this on a 100% chance. Save before crafting it and reload till the 40% do their work.

1st: Thanks for your help :)

2nd: Do you think it's worth it with Level 13?

Doesn't work - at least on Xbone. The chance is locked when you pick up the masterwork gadget, not at the time of crafting - to prevent this kind of tomfoolery, I've tried

Really? I'm on XOne too and did this prior to finding the essence of perfection (and dupe glitching it).

I tried this repeatedly with the bear claws. Those are like lottery tickets - whether you win or lose is printed within when you pick em up. The Essence of Perfection has a 100% chance so it will always work, bear claws only have a 40% chance of working.

Yeah, but I had those 3 bear claws first. And sometimes it worked on the first attempt, sometimes I had to reload 3 times - strange.

So OP, take that save/reload option with a grain of salt.

Ummm ... I've done this multiple times on XB1 and it does work.  Not sure what you mean when you say 'the chance is locked'.  The chance of success remains the same on the masterwork material, but you can re-load from a save before you've used it and keep trying until it is successful.

What you can do is save your game... then craft using low end mats and see how many tries till you get a proc. Then reload and make the same number of master crafts but the final one use your best mats since that will be the one that procs.

I can confirm saving and resetting does NOT work on pc. Anyways the +10% stats is pretty much always less useful than a relevant bonus effect from fade touched materials.

Admittedly, I'm still learning here, but in my opinion, it's kind of difficult to make a blanket statement like that and have it be accurate in most cases.  I've found that there are so many different factors and combinations of bonuses to different attributes that it probably depends greatly on each character's build, class, equipped items, style of fighting, etc. as to which is most beneficial.  Particularly considering the fact that the 10% bump in stats is added to the base damage numbers (for weapons) that almost all of the hundreds and thousands of percentages of ability bonuses are applied to and that they are guaranteed on every attack.  In contrast, many of the other FT bonuses only have a slight chance of occurring on each attack and it's very possible to go through an entire fight without having them proc at all.

It's not even worth bothering honestly, at level 13 you'd come out better farming an obsidian node and getting some guard on hit.

Somebody did the math on this with hidden blades as an example and the conclusion was from a raw dps point of view FT wins and the other options, namely guard on hit, are fantastic. I will see if I can dig up the post later but the even with the percent chance on some FT mats considered that 10% loses out in the big picture. Tbh if they wanted to make critical crafting worth it 20% would probably need to be the boost.

I get what you are saying about blanket statements but in this case a good FT mat is almost always if not just always better.

Putting Dragon Tooth on your armor will help out any chance ability on your wepon. I get constant Fade Cloak for my 2H Warrior with this and better yet if you have Walking Fortesss. Really helps alot

Um... critical craft materials have literally no effect on your proc chances as far as I know. It is a raw 10% increase to all stats on that item. No bearing on other gear. I believe you have high fade cloak procs but it has nothing to do with a critical craft material.
