There is a desire demon? Where does it reside?
Yeah I'd like to know this too, I put 110 hours in and did most side quest on the mage line and never saw her.

I'm assuming he means the "boss" in Emprice De Lion (sp?). Don't get your hopes up. The "demon" just looks like some random guy and if he didn't say so we never would have known he was a desire demon at all. Bioware completely erased their own creative and iconic design just to save us from the evil of BOOBS. When I heard that the desire demon was male I exclaimed "finally! they've heard my prayers! A naked purple man demon with jangling devil junk for all the female/gay citizens to desire! because surely desire shouldn't only take a FEMALE form!".
But....nooooooooooooooope.jpg
Sigh. The more I post, the more I hate this company.

So you mean in DA:I world people desire... is an average male dressed in some average clothing... instead of smoking hot purple demon mistresses with those horns and everything?
I guess demons and Corypheus in a whole shouldn't be the biggest problem in Thedas.
Actually my bad, "Spirit of Choice"
But yeah, Imshael is an ancient desire demon.

I'm pretty sure I fought that boss, and it was a pride demon, not a desire demon
What option to get a drink? I never ordered drinks in the Inquisition. In Dragon Age 2 it didn't serve any purpose anyway. You also couldn't sleep in the bed, sit on a chair, or even have a meal. It had no effect on your character's performance. No rewards whatsoever.
That argument from great feminist thinkers didn't make sense. You'll need to elaborate on that more. Don't forget forget the reference notes on which feminist said what.
I was just wondering if you applied the "no reward->shouldn't be in the game" rule on everything or if you just used it because you're maybe opposed to whorehouses in general. Now I'm genuine interested to know if you also apply this rule to conversations, i.e. would you also like for example small talk to be removed from the game?
The 'anyway' was there to indicate that the rest of my post was no response to your quote.

No it's a "Spirit of Choice"
I agree. Zoey Quinn, Anita Sarkeesian etc. and the brainwashed harpies that support them may be useless wastes of space that embarrass and destroy the very causes they claim to champion, but that doesn't mean feminism itself is wrong. I fight for women's rights without question. Just not when they're shutting down charities (THAT SUPPORT WOMEN'S RIGHTS WTF!!) or ignorantly pointing out "sexism" in games where they don't exist only to get a rise out of idiots who already hate men.
Sadly, Bioware has fallen into this miserable group. They're so afraid of women being "objectified" that they must shield our virgin eyes from every stray areola lest the world spin back to the 16th century or whatever. Oh, and I'd bet you a hundred bucks that's why Calpurnia's face looks like that...
Can you link up a quote that supports that? Has Bioware made a public statement?
We have progressively gay and cross dressing characters, full nudity in romance scenes, cat calling, and in my opinion Leiliana, Morrigan, Cassandra, and Josephine are all pretty beautiful. Yet, you guys are complaining that theres no desire demons or ****** house. There is something wrong with youre line of thinking. I'm no feminiest, no social justice warrior, don't give a rats as about political correctness but you'd think the fact you get to see Cassandras breasts or Dorians ass would be far more offensive then the fact a ****** house exists or there are scantily clad demons. I don't think any of your theories hold any water.

I'm a straight male gamer by the way, and I love that dragon age is the way it is.

I just think people who are taken in by romance options in any video game are very sad indeed. Where is the self-respect and confidence to just go out there and find real romance? I get that magic, swordfighting and dragons are something that can only be found in fantasy games, but if you think romance is a natural part of fantasy, that's just sad.

Okay... well, "that's your opinion maaaan" -- but I do not agree, and sadly I've seen that argument far too often. Fiction and real life are not at odds with one another!
Fiction has always been about empathy and possibly identification, immersion and suspension of disbelief. If done well, it invites thought, promotes reflection and evokes emotion, all of which are very real in the "real world". Once you leave the realm of fiction by putting down that riveting book or by quitting that fascinating game, you return to the real world, richer, perhaps changed for your experiences, but you do not continue living in the realm of fiction. (And those very few that do are suffering from a mental disorder and need help, but neither books, nor movies or games can be blamed.)
So why would enjoying a romance in the realm of fiction be "sad" and somehow at odds with a "real relationship"? With all due respect, that is nonsense. There are plenty of people in happy relationships that like to delve into romantic movies, books, or romantic relationships in RPGs. Implying that they all lack in "self-respect and confidence" is rather sweeping and pretty inaccurate (just look at all the couples going arm-in-arm to watch romantic movies...).
By the same token, you could blame people for enjoying fiction at all. Why challenge yourself in a game if you can go out into the "real world" and seek challenge there?

At the risk of repeating myself.

In almost every fantasy book, movie, game, etcetera ever written there is some element of romance. Including the Lord of the Rings with Aragorn and Arwen. So at the rist of hurting your butthurt feelings sounds like someone is jealous.
IMO, it does feel like the world has been sanitised for DA:I - instead of getting to see the interactions etc, we're told about them - Iron Bull with his orgy, the Randy Dowager serial, and the Lovers lane place in Val Royeaux all feel like they were interesting ideas that got bunged in so that they could tick them off and say that the edgy sexy bits were included and because they were there in watered-down form (speach / empty seats / codex), they could keep everyone happy - or at least try to.
It's a shame, I do enjoy DA:I - but it doesn't have the grasp that DA:O has (IMO).

Let's stick to games, ok. Unless you want to compare DA:I to a book, which I'm not entirely against doing, but pick-your-own-adventure isn't exactly high-literature.
Fantasy games with some element of romance... I'm going exclude the "save the princess" as being romance, so what are we left with outside of Bioware pulp?
(and it's ok, you can keep your pretend boyfriend/girlfriend, I promise not to get between you two despite my jealousy)
How sad can you get?
this post is repulsive.. these things within the game are a waste of resources above all else..

They ain't compulsory, if you don't like them, don't use them, for me my romance with Josie was boring, they never actually did anything but hold hands in the garden, my inquisitor is getting frustrated.
The major question is where would you put a Whorehouse anyway? On top of a rock I suppose, then it would take you so long to find your way to it, you could have just taken care of the urge all by yourself

Where-where-where. Simple, under your wartable. Nothing brings more joy than warthinking while playing 'stone face'.

It could be a keep modification, best keep the troops entertained there, than have them going to any knocking shop in Thedas possibly exposing sensitive Inquisition secrets

If I could "unlike" only one post on this site, I would spend it on this little beauty without question. Romance is just like any other fantasy we get to live in an art form. Who doesn't want to be someone else for a little while, spending time with characters we'll never meet in real life in adventures we'll never have? Just because we like to have romances in games doesn't mean we're all basement dwelling loners who shun society. Having a significant other isn't going to make "riding the bull" any less awesome, the same way owning a gun wont make us stop playing shooters or having a fast car will make Gran Turismo less fun.
Your logic is awful and pointless. You're the sad one here.

I'll take it as a point of pride to be called "sad" by a person who seeks romance in a computer game, above other things. Thank you!

People who rely on strawmen in their nonexistent arguments are a lot sadder to me. WHY must everyone who likes romance in games be an undersexed troll in your mind? I don't get it. And who said anything about "seeking" romance? Your entire point revolves around childish unfounded assumptions about all of us, which makes me think that the only one here who needs to meet more real people is you.
For the record, I have a boyfriend. I wouldn't trade him for Iron Bull or Dorian, but I still had a blast getting into bed with them regardless.
I don't think anyone is sad, people have different preferences and ideals, it's about providing an pleasant immersive experience for me, the missing brothel provides an option, a choice for those who dislike the available romances or choose one like Josie that is very lack luster
