Blame Anita Sarkeesian. No, I'm dead serious. She complained about the brothels in her Trope videos and mysteriously, some features aren't in the games anymore. No more Desire Demons, no more brothels. I'm a gay male and I don't care about those features, but they were part of what added some interesting depths to the games and the lore of Thedas. I'm upset that we can't interact with them anymore. I will probably anger some people about my stance against Sarkeesian, but to me she's a plague that is infesting video gaming industry. I normally support feminism, just not her. 

 

 

This a thousand times.  This woman is clearly a shame for gaming AND feminism.

It allows them to do what they are most adept at; whinging.

 

The PC argument in regards to prostitution is that women are being used as objects and are not respected as human beings... (interestingly, the idea of male prostitutes often doesn't come into this equation) but what they fail to realise is that a lot of these women actually like their jobs, particularly the nymphomaniac personalities. I knew a girl who was a self-proclaimed sex addict (a nice way of admitting you're a sl*t) and she said that men didn't use her, she used them....

 

It's all based on personal opinion and ignorant feelings regarding to the subject. I wonder if feminists like anita sarkeesian has ever went to a brothel in real life... and did an interview with a few of the prostitutes (Including men) that works there? Or even went out to the streets, and did an interview with a street prostitute? Most likely not because they're too busy trying to take over the gaming industry, and trying their best to force companies to do things their way. Nice way to spread your feminism agenda.. NOT!

 

Women become prostitutes because they want to. Some even go to the extra length to aid sex support for the disabled. These people deserve to have a humanitarian award for their service to humanity.

Sex slavery is an abomination.  It should be crushed and stamped on over and over.  Even worse than drug trafficking.  Every sane person around the world agrees on that. It's common decency.

 

However, the feminist agenda can go too far and be counter-productive: the abolitionist stance on prostitution is one fine example of that imho.

Or the murders that happen across the United States annually, by the way, which dwarf (no pun intended) those victim numbers. Or the amount of wild dogs that are killed in that same year? Why was it okay for Bioware to have really brutal death scenes (in the temple for example for the elves before samson and caph.. whatever her name is), but not to have a ****** whorehouse?

Yeah, what the above poster said, human trafficking is indeed, an abomination. But if we're using trafficking in part as a justification for why ****** houses are more frowned on than mutilating death scenes.

 

It is uncomfortable for me to have to kill wild dogs, and hear their death sounds for example. I'd rather not hear it but that there won't be a crusade from activists that shun bioware for the amount of violence toward canines in the game.. That's just my personal issue.

I don't believe I was the one claiming that people who get killed do so by choice (though some do)...

 

I also never claimed that sex workers or trafficking cannot be represented or visualized in a game, my personal standpoint is that they are generally boring and badly represented and adds nothing or very little in terms of gameplay, depth or mood. Killing, torture and death generally has more to do with the story or gameplay...

Again I think that a small number of feminists going crazy did not affect EAs decision much. Of course it looks good to officially support all this political correctness and if can get more girls to play because of less whorehouses - even better.

I'm sure it can't possibly just be that they didn't particularly feel like adding one this time around or it's one of the many things that was low on the priority list and just didn't get done . It MUST be a conspiracy. 

 

They have already done brothel jokes twice, not to mention a lot of games have you just so happen to end up in some brothel. It's getting tiresome. If they add one they add one, if don't you're hardly missing out on a must have feature.
