LOL.

Viv is on this thread!!

Yes, it's a mature rated game, and this is my point exactly...

The most I saw was Sera giggling on top of my IQ, naked, boobs galore, then falling off the bed where I saw her arse.

Yeah... nah. It isn't that hardcore.

Now, other than this you could almost class DA:I as a PG-13, and yet.... the PC weakling crowd would STILL find something to whine about, if they haven't already..

So my point is; if you're going to show boobs and arse, still risking the outrage and cries of the PC weakling, then why not go the full monty, and provide brothels, the option of being evil, desire demons, etc?

Fact of the matter is, people will whinge regardless.

I've Youtubed that game up and I just might reconsider giving Gothic 3 a try.

Spoiler

I like how you can wield magic yet you still can use a crossbow, and daggers! So restrictive in Dragon age!

It's great! This is very end game though.  The first 10 hours or so of Gothic 3 are brutally difficult.  Use the community patch, otherwise wolf packs will always destroy you (balance problem, some wild animals were more lethal than the three optional end bosses at release)

Desire demons and brothals were in both games... why take it out in the third game? What gives? Like I said before who cares if people are offended. They can choose not to play it, and leave the rest of us alone.

So, we agree in fact, Papercut;

Sanitization is basically a distortion between fiction and reality, covered up with the fake excuses of PC and poetic license.

I refer to the over-used argument of people on this forum:

'You're complaining of X (brothels, sexy women, coherent clothing and armor, blood and gore, men in power) not being in DAI, a fantasy game where dragons and magic blah blablah, so not realistic is not an argument, I win, give me some likes'

A RPG need, like all work of fiction, to have internal coherence for immersion purposes.  So, yes in a sense, bakeries and brothels are more important to be included in a game than Shards or crafting materials...

The problem with brothels or sex workers, as they are generally presented in most games across all genres and platforms, is not that I find them offensive, or problematic from some political viewpoint, it is worse...they are boring! And boring me is far worse than shocking me, offending me or making me feel uncomfortable...

Maybe it's been overly done, honestly, I dk, but just imagine the sheer amount of stupidity you would have heard on the Web (say, on Aneeta Youtube channel) if a brothel was included in the game, with -perish the thought- female dancers !!

Personally, stupidity and ideology bore me to death or inflame me, depending on what I had for lunch.

Well, I must hand it to you, Viv-clone. Your argument is not about being offended, it's about being bored. Love it!

Stupidity/ideology has a place... a million miles away from me, and not in my favourite video games!!

Like the asari dancers in ME? They seemed to get away with that without too much stupidity or flak being fired...I wanted Krogan and Salarian dancers, but I was sadly denied...

Thank you dear for seeing that...let it be known for the record that I was not the one who introduced any political or ideological perspective on the debate, I merely pointed out that I felt it overly dramatic...but then again...where are we to be overdramatic if not on BSN?

Exactly.

Though... I don't think the OP was actually serious in the first place. ;)

(I don't actually think it's a major issue if the game doesn't have brothels and desire demons)

Well... okay. Desire demons, yes.

But basically it's political-correctness in general.

I just find it refreshing that somebody argues from an entirely different perspective.

jokes aside, the best thing in DAI for me is that it's a game marketed for/inclusive of LBGT and LGBT sympathizers.  It's a clear stance and I guess the first one to do that? DAI is a waste of potential imoh... Sad

The game is rated M for mature 17+. This means that the game will have blood, intense violence, Nudity, Sexual content,  and not but least... Strong language (Swearing).  When I purchase a game that has these specific warnings I expect the game to have adult content.. Just like I expect adult content when I watch a porn film.

After 200 hours of playing this game the only time I saw any kind of nudity and sexual content was when I was finalizing my romance with Cassandra. That is all. It was highly disappointed considering the fact that I thought I was purchasing a matured rated game.

The game wouldn't be as bad if it had more adult like content in the game like this.

Spoiler

Or this

Spoiler

So mature content is nudity and sex scenes? Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against it - I'm very mature! But to me mature content is adult themes, complex topics such as racism, slavery, bigotry and political intrigue. It's questions that can't simply be portrayed in a black and white manner, it's content that makes you think. Nudity, that's only some nice icing on the cake.

Calling a game adult just because you can see boobs, brothels and sexual content isn't mature, it's the very opposite.

And regarding your Witcher sex scenes: these scenes show exactly what's so immature in this game. Why is it that we never see Geralt naked? Geralt always either has his pants on or you only see him partially. If the scenes were so mature and adult, why are they afraid to show his penis? As an adult man you should be able to handle that too - right?

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against nudity, but it only seems to be about women looking hot and being shown naked to please the men; I hardly ever see straight men asking for other men to be shown naked in order to make a game more mature and realistic. If you have nudity, then have it be equal, show both men and women nude. And no, I'm no feminist, just a realist.

Please don't talk about the Witcher like lowlifes on Youtube. Sapovski's books are a satire of every high fantasy trope, and Geralt being the center of female attention as a hated freak is actually very subtle.  You fear it, you want it,, you fear it, you f...ck it.

Isabela was practically someone who was comfortable enough with her sexuality to talk about it openly and was fun to hang out with. If brothels had characters with even more story to tell, I guess it wouldn't be so boring, right?

These scenes were given as proof of mature gameplay, so don't mind my reaction to them. He's talking about the games and the books have no relevance to this discussion. Not to mention, the sex scenes in the books don't focus on the women and only describe the women's looks, they focus more on the interaction and relationship between both characters.

Also, you should try Spartacus: Blood and Sand (Starz series).  Very equal on the nudity and sex part.  Still no chest-hair though. I feel discriminated against. ;)
