How am I supposed to be evil?

I can't, however, since even the most evil... Is kinda just rude. Such a shame. In DA:O I found it very possible, especially with options like the Dark Ritual. I will say tho, the Well of Sorrows was one point, where it was very possible, but apart from that... Have you guys tried playing as an evil guy? Sort of like Raistlin from Dragonlance, if anyone is familiar with him. How did it go?

This is not that sort of game for the most part though you can inflict fates worse than death, like having people made tranquil, banishing them to the sea of ash, putting a sign on them that they stole from corypheus then leaving them for the venitari, and of course in one case you can keep someone from having a proper burial by having their skull used as a stage prop on the evil of evil.

I want to play an evil, manipulative, power-hungry blood mage. Someone who's only after power, and will do anything to get it. Who's willing to sacrifice anything in that pursuit.

There's no difference between DA:I and DA:O other than you can't do completely insane stuff that should immediately have your entire party turn around and execute you with extreme prejudice.
In DA:I, you can take a lot of steps to expand the power of the Inquisition and build up a major foothold in Ferelden and in particular Orlais. DA:I is all about political power instead of protagonist plot shield + chaotic stupid evil choices.

I don't think you can play as evil. You get things to do from people in the game. There's no evil choice.

Just understand that its not your story and not your character. Bioware tells the story they want to tell, they said it multiple times. All choices are purely cosmetic.
So you are essentially telling us that Bioware is no longer interesting in making ROLEPLAYING games.

Bioware is becoming a Taletell studio-like, with a better budget.
Chosing between Hawke or the warden it's like chosing between Carley and Doug... xD

Rpg is a very broad term. I'm not saying that bioware games are bad, obviously here I am playing their games and hanging on the forums. But the ability to roleplay different characters and personalities is definitely not why I play bioware games, that's not a feature in their games.

Telltale have better stories a lot better. Basically for every bio game think of it as a adventure style game NOT a rpg. If you go expecting a rpg you will be disappointed. Finally welcome to the politically correct SJW heaven that is DA:I.

Totally agree with the lack of evil in the game, I love doing " Champions of the just " because man, if we could be that evil in the game, it would be the greatest game ever^^

Well.. I don't know if they re better or not. I do like ME and DAO as I like TWD and TWAU. But what I know is I cryed and laughed a lot playing those games, where I was just bored playing DA2 and DAI.
But I was meaning that DAI choices are nothing. As for the Hawke vs Warden and Carley vs Doug... Whatever you chose, the result is the same.

It seems like Bioware is interested making roleplaying games when they create a plot that doesn't require the rest of the party to violate their own moral ethos by allowing you to continue to exist.

Many RPGs don't permit you to be truely evil, specially stupid evil because you are supposed to be roleplaying the heroes not the villains.
You're not supposed to anything. Developers are the ones that give or take options, an they could give and option to play a villain.

Or they could make companions with different morals or the lack of thereof that would not get along or even mutually exclusive.

1a.Have a negative approval with Cassandra and make her a divine
or
1b.Have negative approval with Vivienne and make her a divine
2. Ally yourself with the Qun, to give the Qun a stronger foothold
3. Make Gaspard, Celene and Briala work with each other for you.
?????
chaos for everyone.

I wanted to make the Inquisition into a force of Terror and Chaos. To storm the gates of the Black City after slaying the False God. To bring a new Tevinter under my name! Alas Bioware... did not want this..

you're the Inquisitor, saviour of all Thedas riding in on a shiny stead, after you've collected goat steaks for the townies ofcourse, and while you're doing that the inquisition troops refuse to defend your L3 butt cheeks while stood right neext to them ![]()

Unless your party is all stupid evil, you'd still have to have people murder you with extreme prejudice just for being stupidly open about an evil agenda. Chaotic stupid evil doesn't work except in a game designed in the group up for it.
Look at every brilliant villain mastermind ever portrayed in film, comics or gaming. The common thread is that the villain maintains the air of normalcy at all times.

The Inquisitor isn't Jesus. He can fail, fall, lie, cheat and screw everythings. Remember, he was nobody before he got the green Orb from Coryphalus.
But Bioware said "no".

No, they are interested in making adventure games. There is a difference. If your choices don't actually matter (and they don't in DAI...or DA2), then they aren't genuine choices, and they aren't genuine choices because Bioware lately has said that they want to have total control over the narrative in their world.
That's fine, and it can make for a good game, but it's not a ROLEPLAYING game any longer once you do this.

Playing as a too obviously evil character has certain problems with regard to the plot.
The Inquisition is meant to be stepping into the breach left by the Chantry, by Ferelden and by Orlais. It's meant to be an organization fighting against the chaos that has been unleashed on the world.
I think Bioware could have done a better job of creating options for a more ruthless Inquisitor and Inquisition. One that brings order via its own harsh repression of the warring factions and deals with the indviduals behind it in a cruel manner, in order to deter any who would seek to follow their example.
But out and out blood magic and personal pursuit of power? People would see you as just another apostate warlord. No-one's going to rally around that, want to rebuild the order of Thedas on that basis.

Nope, you are pretty much stuck to headcanoning reasons why your choices are "evil". Overall, you are basically stuck being the nicest person in thedas. The closest I've been to an evil character so far is my Dalish female Mage I'm currently playing.
Using CE this girl has not closed a single rift that didn't have anything to do with the main plot.
Tells everyone she is not chosen cause she cares nothing about restoring their misplaced faith.
Only recruited one agent
Has not met up with Blackwall like Leliana asked cause , not her problem
Has not met up with IB because, don't care
Has not attended Madam de fer's Salon cause, sounds boring.
Mages are full allies because she's a mage supremcist.
Only recruited Sera cause she's another elf as she is an elf supremcist.
And she pretty much spends all her time trying to get into Solas and Cullen's pants.
Yet everyone makes her the Inquisitor and trusts her to lead them. So much for the "Lead them or Let the world fall" marketing. ![]()
