There's that.

And as someone who has defended DAII since it came out........the sudden rose tinted glasses treatment DAII is receiving now is pretty telling as well.

It's because Bioware has done a worse and worse job with each game they've done in the past several years.  BTW, DAI is nothing like DAO.  If (for example) your approval got low enough with Alistair (just as an example), he's snap at you (what?!) whenever you wanted to speak with him.   Now, you can't even speak to your companions as you want but only at selected times or when they speak to you....so you see there is in fact less impact on your companions regardless of what choices you make.

To be fair, that's not true. I romanced Cassanda, and I went over there many unecessary times, but was still allowed to talk to her. She didn't exactly snap, but since my approval was low, she didn't say stuff like "My friend". And yes, I could initiate conversation at any time, only it wasn't cinematic mode.

You can only talk to her (edit: as in initiate dialog) in Skyhold [edit: or Haven prior to Skyhold].  When you are adventuring together, you can not talk to her whenever you want to.  I have played both DAO and DAI recently.  You have far more impact in DAO.

The arcane perk should allow you to make mages tranquil. not sure why it doesn't.

If your mage allies want to whine about it just have some wartable missions to get them to fall in line.

Wish i could tranquil Solas :)

You can totally be evil in DAI.  Evil is all about your motives.

No, sorry pal you can't i've tried my damn best to be a tw@t, even had cassandra hate me become a drunk and threaten to leave. still ended up boning her in the smithy. Now she wont leave my dwarven schlong alone.

DAI is an adventure game, not a rpg. Choices are minor and dont affect gamplay. The main hint is the character creator, all is cosmetic, the class the player choose will play exactly the same as previous game or next door guy character.

players seem easy to get mixed up or think that one particular element makes a game a full RPG.

so every person who tell thats all is in nuances, that I have to suggest to myself or that I have to use my imagination. WAKE UP, its a video game. Nuances are good in a book, suggest to self is good for a dream and imagination is good for a table top game.

when you pay for a video game is action & reaction, a rpg you are suppose to adapt the game to you not the other way around.

I'm sorry but, yes in fact many of the evil choices in Bioware games(KOTOR, ME-ME 3, and DA:O) could easily be considered and summed up as "Stupid Evil".

Example?

Example?

I always considered killing Brother Genitivi to be a pretty stupid-evil choice. Up until this point, it's still possible that this was all a wild goose chase and Eamon could die anyway, but you're knifing this poor shmuck because he wants to follow up on his research to have others observe the temple, despite the fact that it was this very research that led the Warden there in the first place. I guess if you want to play a hardcore Andrastian that's willing to kill people to protect sacred artifacts from scholars and pilgrims from the mere possibility that they make take samples, like you just did, but frankly, I don't really see the difference.

Killing that greedy merchant in Lothering is pretty stupid-evil. It's pretty funny, and my City Elf does it, but no one benefits since he's not really a threat, and you could have simply run him off instead.

Sacrificing the city elf captives in the Alienage for a measly boost in constitution. I mean, if this requires explanation, then I'm afraid there's no help to be had. It's even worse when the Warden is a city elf lol.

I kill Genitivi because he was stupid. Sacred Ashes that can cure the sick and bring people back to life. "Yeah, let's hold expeditions here and tell the entire world these ashes exist." Seriously dude??  I love Zev's response. "Perhaps you can charge for admission too." lol! IMO, he deserved a knife to the back of his head.  I'm also glad I leave the Dragon alive (If I decide to keep the ashes pure in a play through) I totally act like Abelas. I'd rather they be destroyed than given to every mook in Thedas.

I help the greedy merchant. Discount!

Those city elves can't help you win the landsmeet anyway, might as well get something out of them.

And isn't that the very definition of a stupidly evil mindset: if they aren't useful for you, they can be killed with impunity, because this could never have any bad repercussions?

But does it? Many of your decision and actions can be described as necessary and even dangerous, not good.

name one, name one that involved tyranny and blatant power grabbing.

That's the most goody two shoes, no one dies, no one is disgraced, it's a peace and love fest.  Better would be killing the entire court and placing picked men/woman into replace them.

yes, it involves people who utterly rely on me for power, or having the reigns myself, Celene and Gaspard do not need me, not after they get the throne unopposed, it is far to easy for them to walk away from me after the threat is over.

And what bad repercussion is killing Gentivi going to lead to for the Warden? He/she could simply say Gentivi was dead when they got to Haven.

I never quite got why there as such a big objection to what Genitivi proposes, or why anyone thinks he deserves to die. I mean, how is Genitivi any different from people who excavate sacred burial grounds, ancient tombs and the pyramids? That the ashes may have healing properties doesn't really change anything, and until you actually get it to Eamon, you're not 100% certain about that anyway. It would have been hilarious if the Guardian was basically defending an urn full of regular ashes that couldn't do anything at all, and Eamon just died.

As for the city elves, that this is a matter of how they can or cannot help you at the Landsmeet pretty much makes my point. You're basically letting an evil wizard murder helpless people to slightly augment your own life force. I think what I find most amusing is that Leliana automatically freaks out if you taint the ashes, but no one does jack squat when you let some sinister Vint perform an insidious blood ritual before them.

mostly likely it was dried up dragon shite, but sacred ash sounds better to tell as a story :P

See if you could've just stole the ashes killing Gentivi would've made so much more sense. Getting rid of witnesses and all that.

Uhm... One of the dialogue options is literally that they work for you now. And in that epilogue the only reason Celene keeps her throne is because of the Inquisition. That's pretty much as of a power grab you can get, without just taking the throne for yourself and hoping somehow that everyone outside and in your organization is okay with it.

The point is that these are 'kick the puppy'-evil acts. They are stupid because you can't really rationalize you getting away with them, without putting your fingers in your ears and shouting plot-armor!
Half the people you travel with should report or kill you and the other half should realize being around you is a danger to themselves.

Except that was not guaranteed, it played out that way, but no way of knowing that going in, hell putting Gaspard on the throne is a better power grab, he does need you more than Celene really should.
