I am I bugged, or do they hate each other so much the 3rd companion is affected by the tension?  I began my Nightmare difficulty PT the other day and decided to log the number of banters I was getting; yeah, I'm that guy.

Anyway, I was hearing some banters I had never heard before so I decided to try a party I'd never tried before, outside of a Dragon fight: Cassandra, Iron Bull and Vivienne.  I had been hearing banters at a decent pace, an average of about 3 an hour once you subtract time in combat & cutscenes.  Up to that time I'd heard 1 banter between Vivienne & Cassandra and none between Vivienne & Iron Bull or Bull & Cassandra, so I was naive enough to think that these 3 would have plenty to talk about... wrong!

After over an hour of using this party I got these 2:

  1. Cassandra asking Vivienne about Rivain - at least I think that's what it was, her 1st line came out garbled.
  2. Bull complimenting "Viv;" Vivienne instructing him on how to address her.

And this was in the Hinterlands, a place I've had success in hearing banters on this PT.  My Herald (not Inquisitor yet) is a Mage, so would Cassandra, Bull & Varric/Sera have been better?  Or am I bugged?

Thanks for reading,

They all have quite a bit of banter, actually. You are probably just afflicted with the dreaded banter bug unfortunately. :|

Probably the banter bug that happens pretty much randomly as far as I can tell.

Well, there's a lot of banter that starts of arguing, but get better by the time. When people get to know each other. I really like Cassandra and Bull's banter. 'Specially the flirty ones ;)

The best banters are the IB trolling Cassandra when she's in a romance with the Inquisitor. Pair him up with Sera and the whole thing is just priceless.

If it was the banter bug it seem to be caused by leaving the war table without fast travelling, at-least that is the case for me, Fast travelling from the war-table fixes it again.

Doesn't always work for me. It just looks like it sometimes happens when I launch the game and possibly fixes itself when I relaunch it again. I think to check you go to Val Rayeaux and if you hear music you're fine or something.

There’s hundreds of pages of not-quite-working fixes for the banter bug. But in short, no, it’s got nothing to do with your party makeup.

Well according to Laidlaw patch 3 is on the way so finer crossed that'll fix this dreaded bug , I actually have stopped playing until it's fixed , DA without banters working properly is like a shooter with no guns.

I've thought about stopping as well until they patch it, but it's really the only thing I have to work on.  Maybe when Gat Out of Hell drops I'll put Inquisition on the back burner until it's patched.

It seems like most of the companions who are at odds to start with can grow on each other over time.

Iron Bull was not comfortable with cole at first, but using both heavily by the end was friendly and funny and also involved a nice young lady named 'Candy'....

I haven't done a lot of blackwall and Dorian yet, but most pepole seem to find a way to get along better over time.... Sera would be the most likely exception with certain people, but I know even she warms up to some people

Bull and Cole are one of my personal favorites. Especially when you romanced The Bull, made me nearly pee myself ;)

Same here. I was in the Exalted Plains with Sera and Solas in my party, and there was lots of arguing and "ugh, too elfy" comments. I had to replay it and followed the exact same path and got zero banter. Both times I fast traveled from the war table. Kind of annoying. <_<

It's the banter bug. Viv and Bull have a LOT of material - pretty funny too - as do Viv and Cassandra. I got hit with it once and all I kept hearing was Solas and Iron Bull repeat the same conversation. Cole's dialogues are "interesting", to say the least.

Even Blackwall and Viv? There is some serious hate going on there. There is no love lost between VIv and Solas too.

I don't mind the repeated banter sometimes, but it's a pain to hear Solas and Varric talk about the Grey Wardens over and over and over and over... it's not helped because I was in the Hissing Wastes when this happened and that place is just as endless as the looping conversation.

I came out of that desert a little bit crazy... it's fair to say.

Bioware never fixed the DA2 save corruption bug since they claim they could never reproduce the bug. I wouldn't hold your hopes up of them fixing this bug.

Yeah, hope it's fixed. Listening to the banter on youtube is just not the same as listening to it in game.

They banter but its not particularly interesting. Well the one about her not having "boob" armor was good but that's about it.

Couple bull with Sera or Dorian, that's some grade A banter...if you're not effected by the banter bug.

Ts, what about 'borrowing the armour', 'who has sex smelling like roses?', 'the flip' or the borrow of the trebuchet for Krem's stuffed nugs?

Oh that stinks... Bull and Cass get along surprisingly well actually, and their banter is some of my favorite in the entire game. Bull teases her a lot and she reacts like typical Cassandra but I think they make great friends. :P

I had banter bug problems in my first file, but since then my other ones have all seemed unaffected.

My entire first playthrough I had Vivienne, Iron Bull, and Cassandra and while IB had some banter with both of them, neither said a word to each other over the course of like 50 hours (and I never used a mount) >_<

Come to think of it, Cassandra and Vivienne have never said a word to each other in ANY of my playthroughs O_o
