Let's look what he says about DA:O and DA2:

"Past that, though I’ve enjoyed Bioware’s Mass Effect series throughout the years, I’ve never managed to get into Dragon Age, despite playing all three games extensively. I hated the silent protagonist of Origins, and the dice-rolly combat system that felt dated even back then, and was frustratingly paired with a wildly uneven difficulty curve. I liked the more streamlined combat system of DA2, yet it’s hard to be anything other than disappointed with the scope of that game, and I’ve never seen any virtual world that has used copy and paste quite as extensively."

Not the best trump card for the DA:I naysayers and doombringers to hold around, just sayin'.

Which would make him the target audience for Dragon Age: Inquisition, a drastically dumbed down and streamlined game. But he doesn't like DA:I either.

Ironic, isn't it?  ^_^

I read the article. You do know that the critic panned all the Dragon age games not just DAI in this article.  He did not consider DAO to be that noteworthy either.

Actually IMHO your statement is incorrect, because quite a few of us on this forum like all three games. Also compared to games like Realms of Arkania  all of the Dragon Age games are drastically dumbed down and streamlined. Also lest's not forget all the MMO influences that DAO and Awakenings introduced.

Heh, a gamer who's not a fan of the Dragon Age games disappointed Inquisitions won GOTY?

Stop the presses!

Yes, because when I want gaming reviews I go to Forbes. Like when I went to Home and Garden to decide what car to buy. Or when I go to MSNBC when I want real news.

I had my cursor over the "Like This" button until I read the MSNBC jab. To be fair, I think almost every "news" program is biased in a way it's laughable that they can call what they do news, but I'd say Fox News is a least likely real news source than MSNBC.

Ah, what the hell, I'll give you a like anyway.

So a random guy on the internet who hasn't liked any Dragon Age game including Origins that is apparently too "dice rolly" didn't think the newest Dragon Age game was GOTY worthy?

That's not even worth coming up with a sarcastic remark for.

Sorry bud, but that's not ironic.

What it is, is somebody posting a negative review on this forum to further their own agenda. You don't see people posting unsolicited positive reviews, why? Because people who like the game have nothing to prove and by and large don't appear to feel the need to press their opinions on everyone else.

Yeah, and I also like games like GTA and Far Cry. Games that are not RPGs. Your point is?

Anyway, are you trying to say that Dragon Age: Inquisition is not even more dumbed down than DA:O? That is ridiculous. DA:O is an RPG, but DA:I is nothing more than an action RPG streamlined for consoles.

Also lest's not forget all the MMO influences that DAO and Awakenings introduced.

You mean the MMO influences in DA:O that aren't there or aren't noticable? You mean this filler content that makes up 80-90% of DA:I?

DA:I is a single player MMO, DA:O most definitely not.

DA:I isn't dice rolly. It is a dumbed down action game for gamers who dislike "dice rolly" games.

He dislikes Dragon Age: Inquisition for other reasons.

I think it is ironic. Guys like this are the reason that EA butchered and dumbed down Dragon Age, yet many still don't like it.

But you, apparently, are. Or at least you've resorted to the posting of memes, which is never a good thing.

Way to miss the point (or most likely you are being obtuse on purpose), the author of the article clearly doesn't like any of the DA games.

And you can't really blame others for thinking you have an agenda, from reading your posts, your motivation seems to be "I hate DA:I and the rest of the world should hate it too!!"

wow thanks man I didn't even know this option existed

finally free of his trolling

Except that the forum still tells you "Hey, this guy is blocked by you, but here's a link to make his post appear in case you wanted to look anyway." Which is dumb. A block feature should actually be a block feature. I should never know if he has made a post.

There's nothing even remotely close to the Oscars in gaming, so I don't think a direct comparison can really be made. I'd also argue there are rarely any games made which are equivalent to the sorts of movies which tend to win Best Movie.

Practically all 'big' games which end up as GOTY nominees would fall squarely in the trashy-but-popular summer blockbuster category, which the Academy basically looks down on because they have little to no artistic merit.

The Academy Awards are taken incredibly seriously and the public tends to pay attention. Nobody cares about what won GOTY at whatever random award show is supposed to be 'the important one' in any given year.

Dark Souls II was better than Dragon Age but DA beating Divinity Original Sin for meaningless awards was desirable just for the amount of assblasting it generated in certain quarters.

Is a thread regarding negative reviews so empty that you have to make a thread each time one is released?

Now you're resorting to a source that also dislikes the entire Dragon Age series.

I mean I know you're trying really hard to validate your opinions, but this is getting really sad.

I'd suggest making a thread each time a positive review came up as a counterpoint, but that would probably take over Scuttlebutt and overshadow all the "BioWare is over" threads.

We wouldn't want that would we?

Can we have larger, emptier areas to explore next time please? Perhaps with even more rocks and flowers to collect.

It's a winning formula. Apparently.

A lot of people here like the large, empty areas too. Great stuff.

I know right? We all know open worlds should have meaningful plot-relevant collectibles every other square meter with a cutscene popping up every other second with an enemy giving us a one-liner and then engaging us in a fierce turn-based chopstick fight.

Who needs realistically crafted environments with appropriately spaced content am I right?

I chuckled when he wrote that Skyrim is more worthy of GotY than DA:I.

Anyway, what DA:I needed was some unique and interesting encounters and interactions in the open world rather than fetch quests.  Ironically enough, I feel that DA:O did this better than DA:I with crazy hermits, bandit confrontations, and sylvans, among others.

Yeah, more NPC's with awesome conversation's like 'I'm so tired of waiting around' and 'Same old' Ground breaking writing there.

He never wrote that.

He gives the impression with this.

We at Forbes had our own GOTY list, where Dragon Age was in our “Bronze Tier” of games, while taking home the crown was Hearthstone, a game in which I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on cards packs because I am a lunatic who just loves it that much.

Now, he is welcome to have his opinion and not like the game, but to me the article is a tantrum because the games he likes were defeated by a game he didn't like.  Now since he compared Dragon Age: Inquisition to Crash, I shall compare Hearthstone to Video Poker since both feel like gambling to me.

Man, remember when we literally had to walk uphill through the snow to get to our encounters? And then everyone would get pneumonia and die because they only had one blanket each in their inventory?
