I think she looks better in DAI, tbh. And you can't really blame the DAI engine for not accounting for DAO mods. 
Yeah i don't actually dislike the 'upgraded' one, there's lot of detail in new textures and such (that lends itself well to the whole "10 years with the taint ticking" thing) It's just the original even without the mod had that quirky-rather-than-pretty shape that really grew on me over 100+ hours spent playing the game, so it was sad i couldn't really retain that with the new assets.
(well the shape and the hair colour. srsly BW, how do you manage to get the blonde worse than you already did ._.
Also, the mod only makes the features resemble more the DA2 elves. So it wouldn't be really a problem to match it if only they didn't go back on their own (re)designs yet again in DAI
It is possible to get some of the more DA2 elven designs in DAI's CC. I've seen them on the CC thread (some not all; most are going for generic pretty). The nose takes the most work, though. I gave my own Lavellen an elven nose and it took a while to get right.
I managed to get a DA2-like bridge with the male elf when I played with CC for one for a bit, that I was quite pleased with. No such luck with the female elf though; maybe it's the shape I started with, I didn't know it'd be a problem so by the time I discovered it I'd have to pretty much scratch everything and start over just to find out if it's possible ;/It is possible to get some of the more DA2 elven designs in DAI's CC. I tried to also implement any scars and what-not that she has received after the Blight in the fan-fic I write about her. I recently did a play through playing my Warden as the Inquisitor (with a few things changed up for head canon)

@DracoAngel she looks very close to herself in dao. Not an easy thing to do.

I made an attempt at this and failed miserably.
Hah, looking at the pics I can see it, yeah. Personally I got a shock a while ago when I ran across a photo of Imogen Poots. I wasn't familiar with her before so it was like, "... whaaa, that's my DA elf! in RL!" moment. Awkward.Definitely a bit of Erin Way in your DAO elf :-)

I remember that first image. The resemblance is incredible. Well done! 
I've actually tried 'replicating' my Dalish's appearance but the engine change was too evident so I gave up and started over.

I should try my hands on this once again. I really sucked at it last time, though
