I wish I knew it! I'm stuck with Print Screen and MS Paint. And the manual does not tell how to take screenshots (unless it's written in very small characters).

You don't. You have to modify an .ini file with the use of specialized tools or a hex editor (since every string in the ini has a set length and modifying the length requires changing the bit that precedes it).
You're better off with print screen, just because the screenshot feature--even when enabled--doesn't work during dialogues or cutscenes.

DL the trial version of Fraps and there you go. I only lets you grab 30 secs of video but it grabs anything up on the screen when you hit what ever key you set up in the settings menu. It is also nice in that i can force the videos and screen shots to a specific directory no more hunting around for the shot or vid.

The bizarre thing is that there's a folder for screenshots included.

Or you could use Xfire.

I kid.. but there's programs you can run that'll take pictures/videos in-game, like fraps or GameCam.

In next patch Bioware should bring back f 11 key bind for screenshots like in ME 2.

There doesn't seem to be any way to take them on PC when it's fullscreen for me. I have to switch to Windowed Mode, hit Print Screen, and paste it onto MSPaint.

I use fraps.

I laid a pretty serious googling on this subject last night, and it looks like fraps is the answer. Sorry.

I used Xfire for the longest time and that seemed to work best. It was a just a little crappy when I was running that and Steam at the same time for ME 1. But I would recommend the full version of Xfire rather than the trial version of Fraps.

This is due to hardware acceleration. This problem is fixed in Vista and Windows 7 users.
For those in XP:
In Windows Media Player, go to Tools, Options, then on the Performance tab, slide the Video Acceleration slide from "Full" to "None". (Also uncheck use overlays.) Just be sure to switch it back when finished.

Darn. I'm in the middle of the dialogue where Miranda's butt is front and center, with Shepard off to the side, and wanted to take that shot. Looks like there's no way?

Please note: screen captures will not work on Windows 7 with nVidia drivers either. The post earlier is incorrect in this matter.
This has to do with the buffering that applications use when in full speed mode. When in windowed mode, they draw directly to the screen surface - slower seeming since there is much less of a buffer to make things seem smooth, however the upshoot of that is because its written directly to the windows screen buffer, it is accessible to the Print Screen key screen capture.
FRAPS should also work on retail boxed versions of the game. FRAPS does not work on steamworks games however, so using it on the steam versions of ME and ME2 probably wouldn't work. I can't say its entirely impossible, but its definetely not something that works "out of the box"

Fraps is pretty easy for PC. (I have the Steam versions and it works just fine... works fine on all my Steam games, actually, including GMod and HL2 so I don't know what you mean about it not working...) The default key is F10, so it's pretty easy to hit it whenever necessary.

I was looking for the answer to this myself and ended up a bit misled by some posts in this thread, so I felt it would be remiss if I didnt point that out for others trying to get ME2 screens.

Had issues with this myself until today. Dont know if this is even relevant given the age of the thread but here it is, in case it is still a problem.
Hit F11 in-game, then open file (which is stored in the screenshots folder) and open with FreeFileViewer - it saves as a .BMP that apparently most programs have issues with. I tried using loads of default picture viewers to no avail.
Printscreen doesnt work in my game installation for whatever reason, so give this a bash if you are having issues.
