If alive, not possessed, you see him in Redcliffe. Didn't think I would, but I feel so bad for this guy. Anyways, what bugged me is when I tried to console him and Cassandra and Vivienne disapproved me right away. Riiiiiiiiiight, I'm not allowed to show sympathy to a mage that got possessed because he tried to protect his father. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. I didn't like that part of the game so I had to restart from an earlier savefile and be hypocritical so I didn't lose any approval. Anyways, don't tell me more since this is my second playthrough and I don't know what happens to him if I recruit the mages. Shhhhh ~

I absorb Viv's disapproval like a sponge. She can disapprove all she wants and I thrive on it. Cass is just a grump sometimes but it's still easy to get approval in other areas. I sympathized with Conner too and didn't care if the others disapproved. He needs friends.

You can still have high approval with all companions even if they slightly disapprove now and again.

In order to befriend Vivienne you have to agree with her views in the first few conversations (even if you really don't), she gives out tons of approval . That way even if you Ally with the rebel mages you can still have a good approval rating with her. Then after Haven she'll be all concerned with your well being at Skyhold.

I wouldn't be troubled too much by some disapprovals now and then. There is plenty more opportunities in the game to gain approval than lose it. Some characters even have 'hated' factions. Take Varric along when Red Templar hunting for instance and you will gain little bits of approval in every skirmish.

why do you want or need their approval? if you are trying to get in their good graces, a little disapproval will not hurt in the long run. I base my choices on what the particular inquisitor I created would say or do, regardless of who likes or doesn't like it. Cassandra for all her preaching is anti mage, if you listen to the details of her past you will find out why, possessed mages I imagine are even lower on her list., Vivienne is a mage who espouses control and monitoring of all magi, so it is natural that they will disapprove.

I had them both with me too and I was very "?!?" at their disapproval. Connor was a child! I'm not gonna judge the action of a child like I do the action of an adult, that's crazy. He's clearly punishing himself more than enough anyway! I was happy to take their disapproval, lol.

The thing that got me was that Teagan had left for Denerim - that seemed like a very out of character thing for him to do. This is a guy who stayed with the people of Redcliffe to try and ensure their safety in Origins, even going so as to lie to the Warden to ensure he got their help. He then walked into the castle alone to save his family, even though it was obviously a trap. The man's got some stones on him!
And yet in this game, he ups and flees to Deneriim, leaving Connor behind at the mercy of the Tevinters, who are clearly up to no good? I have no problem with him sending for reinforcements from Denerim, but I just cannot see him leaving the people of Redcliffe and Connor like this, even for a short time. (The whole reason he is Arl of Redcliffe in the first place, is because the people loved him for saving them, and preferred him to the more political Eamon, who was more at home in Denerim anyway).
I felt sure he'd be hanging around in hiding waiting for an opening and would make an appearance at some point, but apparently not.

For Viv's disapproval, I simply think she's seen too many cases of: "Magic kid gets extreme emotions and murders their family" to be able too feel as much sympathy as someone who has only seen it once or twice. She is a first enchanter after all, so even if the mage kids are generally decent, seeing cases like Connor, Meredith sister and Wynne, must be rather disheartening. There is one dialog of it where she gives example of a angry teen shocking his mother to death and a frightened girl burning her house down. And now, one of the kids who knows how badly unsupervised magic can go, is part of the rebellion to destroy the Circles, the one who really should know better (and he does, but he didn't have much choice, and getting skewered on an extremist blade was not the way he wanted to go.)
She doesn't hate Connor, but she's simply seen this happen too many times to feel the same sympathy as others.
I'm not saying that you can't disagree with her (I feel for Connor as well), but I can see why she feels this way.
And for the OP: One or two cases of disapproval don't really matter in the long run, if you get well along otherwise. It's human to have others disagree with your feelings and accepting that other people might disagree or disapprove of your opinion is normal and not really causes for reloading. (I got hefty disapprovals with Vivienne at many points in the game, but she still told me that she saw me as a friend to be respected. )

I was under the impression that Alexius threatened him and other non mage citizens to leave or the Venatori would start a fight and remove them by force; thus getting him and innocent people killed. Better to go to his nephew the king and comeback with Fereldens army and for sure get his town back the maybe failing and ending up dead. Seems logical to me.

I was under the impressino that Alexius used actual blood magic to get Teagan to leave, just as Fiona was possessed/impersonated in Val Royeaux.

Did the game say that? If it did I must have missed it. I'm genuinely curious.

Personally, I would love to recruite Connor as a companion in the next installment. He can turn out to be a very talented mage and very wary of possession. He knows all too well the dangers of blood magic. He could also tell us the fate of the blood mage that poisoned his Dad. To me, Connor, is a good guy in the making.

And I said it was logical to do so - I just don't see why *he* had to go. He has people who can send a message. He didn't have to be strolling around Redcliffe, openly, but he's not the kind of guy who'd just abandon his people like that, even for only a few days, where there's trouble afoot. Its basically the exact opposite of what he would do - which is why the people of Redcliffe love him.
I'm not saying he wouldn't send for help, just that I don't think he would for that help himself.

If you choose the Templars does connor die?
Most likely. Considering if you side with the Templars, one of Dorian's banters says that the Venatori killed any mages who tried to escape or refused to serve them. Since Connor doesn't seem the type to submit considering what he does in future Redcliffe, I think he's dead if you help the Templars.

I think the Venatori would be actively searching for him in the village. This isn't like the Darkspawn or the undead. If Teagan ******' off Alexius the Venatori kill him and other non mage citizens. You're out matched, why provoke the bear and cause more trouble? Better to play it safe and leave.

I think Fiona went to Val Royeaux to invite the Inquisition for talks but then Alexius mucked around with time. For some reason we remember talking to Fiona but for everyone inside that Rift time bubble thingy she never actually went.
I think.

I assumed it was just another demon impersonateing Fiona. Like Lord Seeker Lucious.

Its pretty obvious from origins that Teagan doesn't care about his personal safety - he's willing to take the ultimate risk by going alone into Redcliffe castle. With Connor being the village, I just don't see him leaving, when he could just send someone else to Denerium. The whole point of his character was he was a 'Man of the People', a man who stood with them through thick and thin.
Even if Redcliffe is overrun in Origins (because you refuse to help and leave), he fights to the last breath, finally falling bloodied and wounded from being swarmed by Undead. And when you revive him, he;s instantly up and about planning how to get into Redcliffe Castle and save Eamon, Isolde and Connor, The man really doesn't know the meaning of the word fear, and is willing to risk a solo mission if needs be (because there is no guarantee that you will actually help him, especially if you left the first time).
