And the more I think about it, the more I reeeeally want to see a Sera Chantry marriage, holy water spiking and all. You know the guests would talk about it for years.
Heresy!

Oh sure. But only if my inquisitor can leave her at the altar.
I'd be curious about more ins and outs, and prejudices and all that. (We know an elf can't marry a royal person, but is an elf marrying an average person also taboo? etc.)
Edit @OP: I seem to recall Josephine's sister asking if they were going to run off and become Grey Wardens, not get married. Unless she says different things to different Inquisitors? Mine was a male qunari warrior.
Yeah, I think it depends on the rumors of you and Josephine if any. Like my Inquisitor was romancing Josephine so I got that "are you going to run off and get married" line from her sister.
When you consider that the female elf origin in DA:O was entirely based on a marriage gone wrong, I don't think it is fair to argue that marriage is anachronistic to the DA universe. Having said that, I certainly wouldn't want my character to get married in game, so making a wedding would be a waste of resources from my pov. If it was a very simple affair using current art assets, I wouldn't complain though, since I could just opt out. I tend to opt out of the romances anyway (since they are rubbish).
Ooh yes. And make some of the companions refuse too, based on their personalities.
Let's be honest, marriage isn't for everyone. It doesn't make sense for characters like Morrigan, Zevran or Isabella to accept a marriage proposal and I think it would give the characters more depth as well.
I think you're wrong here. Morrigan justified her mothers marriage and from what she told I don't think she would be against it if something similar were offered to her. I think Isabella wouldn't mind either. you don't ave to have monogamist marriage so as long as you made some arrangements like she can sleep around with whoever she wants as long as you're present and vice versa she might even be thrilled about the idea. Oh and Zevran? well I don't care about him...

Yeah especially if you marry Cass.
I mean, first you get raped... then forced into marriage. The audacity!

Exactly!
Stick to the Thedas Lore/Theme and make story improvements.... it certainly needs help there
Or give modders free range and include the best marriage mod into the game. Problem solved.

It would certainly be better if the designers gave the player a choice whether to opt in or out of sex. I would hope they would provide this choice for marriage too. I would be opposed to forcing the player to get married as part of the plot.
You want an honest answer: I'm sick of marriage and family stuff being brought up. As if there weren't a million more interesting things to discuss about Thedas. I don't want Bioware to waste resources on such stuff except where it actually matters for a plot. I don't play fantasy-themed video games to land in a soap opera. If I wanted that, I'd play one.

Yes, thank you.
You don't have to be married to be in a committed relationship. Just ask all of the decades-together same-sex couples that were only able to get married recently, or those who still can't get married, about that.
Okay, that's convenient committal; aka you can leave whenever you want, no strings attached.
Takes more commitment to marry and make it work, and is not nearly as convenient to leave the arrangement.
At least Skyrim provides marriage, such as it is, which I'm okay with. It's something of a long term thing which is outside the context of most games. When Aerie and my character had a kid in BG2:ToB, I imagined them eventually marrying. Same with my character and Safiya after events in NWN2: MotB. I guess what I'm saying is it's left to imagination.

No strings and convenient to leave, huh? You've like, never listened to a breakup song?
And I can tell you that when furniture is involved, convenient is the last word that comes to mind. ![]()
So I hadn't played this game since Feb, thanks to the inability to clone my quiz (to be fair, I was pretty much able to recreate her in 40 minutes with 50 screenshots in the Black Emporium last night), for a nightmare run, but I heard about the last DLC coming out this week and it got me in gaming mode again. 2 years have passed and now everyone, including her own hand, has turned on the quiz. Josephine is a ride or die LI and I fully expect her to be loyal even if no one else is.
However, I'm coming back here with free rounds of 'I told you so's' if Josephine's miffed that she's still Ambassador Bae after 2 years rather than Mrs. Quiz. ![]()
I have to quote myself .... let me see .....searching .... was a thread about "The Skyhold":
They could make a little bit "Sims into DAI".
Of course a lot of people would cry "Wahhh how could you, thats Sims, thats horrible, be more like The Witcher!!" (
insider joke
it's really just a joke!). But: To play a role means sometimes to play the heros life beside fighting, in "real life", too (some people likes it, other not) - with eating, sleeping, living, friednship, romance and so one. It's a part of the life of a hero. The question is: Does Bioware want this part in his games - yes or no. But not halfway like now, please.
I would say: Bioware: MAKE IT! If you do it, you will be the only Offline RPG who cares about this part seriously. But if you do it, do it right.
Skyhold is after my personal opinion an WOW-idea of Bioware (again, they have so many stunning ideas!) whitch was done just halfway.
And now ... they even deleted "our home". And than everybody at Bioware wonders: How horrible this players are .... we gave them sutch a great story but they are still crying about this stupid Skyhold ..... They want that we "feel" our character, that we love our companions, they want that we love Skyhold and than .... they take it away and wonder why we hate them. Hrhrhr
.
Marriage is part of the "real life".
Bioware should give us possibilities to have marriages, babys and Happy Ends and for other players the possibility to be an ashole and to kill themselfes and half of the companions ... whatever. They should give us a choice how our Hero wants to finish his "biggest adventure" .... not only "Missing in action" like for the "Hero of Ferelden" and Hawk. The wedding of the Hero and Alistair was a mod in DA:O .... Bioware thats shamefull (ok, not so shamefull like the ending oif ME3
).
Sorry for my english. ![]()

...Well, I was gonna say that I kind of hope matrimony was continually kept out of the game, but I have to admit, I did smile at this if it is true.

Haven't played Tresspasser yet, but.....

I'm glad I made this thread ![]()
Well, it appears that EaWare in its truly progressive ways went down the worst of paths. I won't lie and say that I did not expect it, but DA:I has reached new heights of disgust for me.

Why's that?
Trust me, you're better off not going down that rabbit hole.
Why's that?
Let it remain as it is: vague.
