Yeah, this was pretty easy to write.

As someone who clocked 800 hours plus in ME3 MP, I was eagerly looking forward to DA:I's integration of it.

I was, however, disappointed.

DA:I MP is simply not meant for casuals. It is meant for the "hard core" portion of gamers who write strategies, who min/max every attribute and skill, and who absolutely know without a doubt what they are doing.

Which is awesome! For them...

I've clocked less than 10 hours of MP. The first 9 matches, I kept thinking it would get better and more fun. It didn't.

Today I tried the Weekend Event ****.... yeah it's fun trying to score 100 longsword kills with a weapon that deals less than 1/1000 of a plebs health per hit. In the last three matches, I've gotten 3 kills... The rest were scored by my team of assassins, reavers and knight commanders. If i tried to block to get armor, my enemy died. If I tried to kill, I got one hit, less health and someone else killed him anyway.

Seriously. Learn from ME3... do not put personal goals to events, when randoms cannot meet them. That will make us go away, fewer people will create lobbies, and that in turn will make more laggy matches and even less interest.

This is all my opinion though.

Pro tip from someone who you speak of lol

Make a game

Put it on private

Put it on rountine

Do the goal

Total enemies is in the 110-120 area for a game of rountine. Routine enemies are a joke and do like 2-11 damage and a level 1 can do it.

Clap and laugh at the loot from the commendation chests lol.

Don't you remember using inquisition gear? First game I played in DAMP was with a friend in a private routine game and I think we got 3 kills before dying.

@sveners
Your first few games would be best spent with other new players. You'll fail and fail but each time you'll learn something new, get new skill points, and maybe get a nice loot drop.
The weekend challenge is tough, because it's hardly a challenge for players with end game gear, and it's nearly impossible for someone with no gear.
Think of it like trying to kill a dragon the second you walk into single player. I would just ignore it.

Mm good point also to op if your running starter gear then maybe do what this fellow is talking about. But even still you dont need large groups just you and a mate at level 8 should be ok. :)

The weekend event chests are no better than large chests. I have yet to find a single usable item from event chests so far.
OP you aren't missing out.

Seriously though. I helped coldflame when he had low level units to get the commendation chests, I'd run a keeper, Keep his barrier up.. throw down a chain lightning to stun them and damage them but not kill them, he gets the final hit on the enemies, he gets the kill.. he gets the commendation.

Just find people who are willing to assist you and they are easy for scrubs.

Really? I was under the impression you get at least one rare lvl 20 item. This is my first challenge.

For the OP:

The rewarded chests from weekend challenges arent any different from a regular 1200 chest. So you might as well not worry too much about them until you can actually solo the challenge yourself on routine. Which wont take long at all. I doesnt really matter if you finish the level, as long as you reach stage 5 and do a few kills on that you should be finished in one run. Personally I only do them now for the quick prestigepoints. Just remember to keep the best weapon you find in any category. Anything lower than that should be salvaged. That way you atleast are prepared for any other challenges that will appear.

Also, I have helped several people into this game, do a few runs with them and help them farm a little bit of money. After a few hours of runs all together, before you know it you have atleast one character you can run threatening on given you have the right level. Thats when the money starts raking in.

I started out myself probably a day or two after release and then I remember everyone found it hard to finish routine for a while, because no one had the gear. It didnt take long before it was ez mode.

Completely disagree - this game is far more casual friendly simply because most things are dependent on equipment rather than skill. Once you get a few decent weapons and a heal on kill ring you can move up to a higher difficulty without ever really improving skill wise.

Ign said otherwise that BW claims the chests have a higher RNG modifier than a typical chest.

Commendation Chests seem to have higher level gear on average in my experience.  Your odds of getting something top of the line are still slim, but even a level 15+ common is a big deal for someone starting out.

To that effect, I'm pretty sure I've received at least 1, if not 2 blue items from every commendation chest.

Granted some of those blues were runes, but they were blue.  <_<

Thanks for (surprisingly nice) input guys.

Was in a whiny mood last night when I wrote the op, and honestly expected more pummeling. Which, truth be told, would have been justified. Seriously. I want to delete the entire OP, but that would just be pathetic.

Trying to find matches with other scrubs isn't easy though. Most routine matches seem to have veterans who pick off enemies before I even get a slash in. I like playing public, it's quick and easy. Finding a group etc appeals extremely little to me.

Well I got sh*t from someone in this thread the last time I said this but playing this game when you're undergeared, with 3 other people who are undergeared, is the best experience the game offers. It's challenging. It's a puzzle. Once you get someone with a level 23 unique weapon killing everything ahead of you it becomes a gold collecting simulator. Fixing that from the dev's perspective is difficult and I wont pretend that adding level requirements to weapons would fix much but the game should be made more difficult in some way. It bothers me when the people that ask for more difficulty get a response like "that'll slow down my promoting."

^incredibly abridged version of a rant that I'm holding in that's mostly unrelated to this thread. :P

This isn't a bad thing, I suggest getting your char up to level 12 and then switch to threatening, you're going to get pummeled for a bit, but there should be at least a few vets, if you're lucky they'll carry you all the way through, and you'll have some decent gold and likely some items. Buy a few large chests and you should at least pop one or two decent weapons, then do a solo on routine, or if you can find a good person to give you barrier, do that, and you'll get all your kills.

I haven't put as much time in as other players here, but I have midlevel gear and some of the end game gear, I do threatening regularly, and honestly, now, with some of my gear, if I promote I'll still take my lvl 1's right into threatening for faster leveling.

Another thing, as you get more promotions under your belt things will get a bit easier, its conceivable that with enough promotions you could eventually play Perilous as if it were routine.

Yeah, the easiest way to do these is just to solo them. All of the enemies belong to you.

Also, not sure if you try to play with a mic or not, but occasional people do that.

I bum around Routine often enough now whenever I promote since I still need Routine wins to finish the Challenge, and I've no issue with helping people who need help getting something done.  It's pretty hard to do that when 98% of the people I see in pubs run silent, though.
