Unfortunately i must say, as I do love my 360. This is my second system, an Elite, after the first ones action card fried and microsoft woudnt cover it. I made it through the opening cinematic and the cool explosions and everything plus the first few minutes of playtime (walking around the ship). Once at the first part of the tutorial i picked up my first gun and BAM! The screen froze up gave me screeching sounds and threw some white dotted lines going vertically across my screen.  I thought, ok i guess theres one of those random freezes Ive heard about. So i restarted, made in about 2 minutes of gameplay and BAM! does it again. So i reboot and try one more time, it runs for about 30 seconds and BAM, again. After this i figured it was the disc so i popped it out and loaded up and nothing happened, until i looked at my console. Blink Blink Blink. so i unplugged it and got it to run normally without RROD. I tried to run Trials HD (godly game) and made it into the game and started a course and was immediately presented with a screeching sound and this image:

Welcome to Micro$oft and their s*** machines, I'm pretty sure the expected lifespan of an xbox 360 console is 10 months

If you buy another make sure you get a JASPER chipset, google how to tell. They run on less power, produce way less heat and are very reliable!

I love mine to death.

For anyone else who is worried, you can reduce the chance of a RRoD by keeping your XBox horizontal and placing something small underneath it to elevate it an inch or so off the surface beneath it. This keeps the best vents clear and lets the thing expel its heat better.

It's not like this makes up for building a console that isn't properly cooled, but it will decrease your chances of losing your XBox for a few weeks.
