:D

What kind of question is this? Have you seen DA4 yet?   Loghain is easy to implement and if they will choose for the sequel the north of Thedas we can have the chance to meet him.

Simon Templeman  always around Thedas.

                                                                                           Dragon age----------------> Loghain  age

As expected you don't know the answer. :D Well he's easy to kill offscreen just like he was abducted by the Architect and took all of his blood to create more disciples.

And I'm glad it worked for you, but that doesn't mean the experience was any less jarring for those of us that played a Hawke who sympathized with Aveline's perspective.

No, I get your point. Just sharing how I reacted to it and an explanation for how it could work.

Actually I think he looks like a hairless gorilla with that oversized jaw.  But at least he doesn't look like the mule kicked zombie he was in Origins.

The only reason I created a world state where he lived was so he could die in obscurity in the Fade.  Of the three options of potential 'friend' warden to Hawke, Loghain was the most stupid.  Stroud or Alistair could actually be encountered in Kirkwall, but wtf was Loghain doing with Hawke?

Hate that bastard, and he's never actually lived through any of my games.

Did you forget Loghain was in Orlais, as he reveals in Awakening? These wardens were his unit, and Hawke went to them to inquire about red lyrium, and that's how she/he met Loghain.

Hate him as much as you want, but he was fully commited to the cause, and doesn't flinch when it's required of him to sacrifice himself for your sake. Nothing will ever be enough will it? He could save the world, and he will still get all this petty hatred.

I explained why I found the whole "Hawke befriends Loghain" to be immersion breaking in another post.

And yes, he will "still get all this petty hatred" from me regardless of what he does because he's a video game character.  It's not like he has feelings my dislike will hurt.  Because he is a video game character it's a safe way to express my feelings and get in touch with that dark side of me without harming anyone living.

Origins is a very personal game.  I paid for it with my own money, I am entitled to play it how I choose without being 'shamed' into playing it the way someone else wants me to.

To bad Loghain couldn't have been the Inquisitor. Would have been an awesome as hell redemption story. Just think of the clusterfuck that could have been Loghain at the Winter Palace and dealing with that mess.

People get their feelings hurt all the time when others put down characters they like (Sera, Solas, etc). I think you are mistaken if you think that expressing your hatred for a character doesn't hurt anyone living's feelings.

The Winter Palace situation did give me Ostagar flashbacks, tho. You mean I can just let Cailan Celene die if I think that will help my cause? Guess that's fine. She's not *my* liege.

Loghain is a fu**in badass and he is alive in my canon Origins story, where Alistair is hardened and married to Anora. But there's a problem.

No matter how much I like the guy, there's no way I would choose my "Canon Loghain" over my "Canon Hawke".

So even tough I would like him to survive in my canon storyline, he just can't.

Well, unless he doesn't die in the Fade...

And I've had to read a lot of crap about my favorite characters too, but have had to let it go if I want to come on these boards.

What I was saying is, Loghain is a fictional character.  He's not going to get all upset over my opinion about him.

And considering how he takes the warden who castigates him with an even keel, even if he were real, I doubt my opinion would matter to him one bit.  He's a man who has strong opinions about his actions, for good or bad and sticks by his choices once made.

Hell, even Nightmare's taunts don't faze him.

I'm not concerned about Loghain. Like you said, he's made up.

You said "it's a safe way to express my feelings and get in touch with that dark side of me without harming anyone living." I said that I think that your words can 'harm' someone living (in the form of hurting their feelings). And you said that you've had to "let it go," implying that others should let it go, too. Which means that it's *not* a "safe way" to "not harm anyone living" but instead that someone who is harmed should get over it.

:P I don't pretend to leave him because I don't like him. I pretend to leave him because he's one of the few party members I think might actually step up to the plate and take one for the team. It's a compliment, I think.

I'm going through Loghain withdrawal. The only way to deal with the dreadful symptoms is to read great Loghain fanfic.

Is there a kind soul out there who'd have some links to share? The situation here is pretty dismal. I'm almost selling my house in return for a smutty paragraph...

I disagree.

My opinion only causes his die hard fans to have 'hurt feelings', if that.  I haven't seen or heard of anyone suffering a massive coronary or popping a blood vessel in the brain from rage over any of my posts.  It is a 'safe way'.  Unless you consider 'hurt feelings' harmful.  In which case, that's far too 'sensitive' to be reading on a social board where people from all over the world can post their opinions.  Not everyone is going to agree on the same things as every one else.  And I haven't verbally attacked anyone on this board (which would be harmful).  All I've done is post my opinion on a fictional character that I dislike.

Yet, I was told I'm 'petty' for continuing to dislike him.

It's not like I go out of my way to post in his fan thread in the Origins section of the boards.  I've never even been in it since I have nothing at all to add to that discussion.  I leave the fans there alone.

If i bother someone, they can always put me on "ignore", but really, I'm just another yahoo on the internet.  Why should they care what I think in the first place?

Good to know. I'll make sure to remember to go to the Alistair thread from time to time just so people can know how much of an whiny worthless ass I think he is. Then nobody will be able to complain, after all, he is just an fictional character and if it bothers his fans, they just need to get over it. Totally fair, huh?

People don't necessarily express a rage when their feelings are hurt. And no, hurting someone's feelings isn't necessarily harming them, but it seems disrespectful to not give a **** about doing it. I don't know what you are or are not doing in the Origins boards, but in nearly every Loghain thread I've seen that's popped up in these boards, you've been there to take a shot. Regardless of this being the Internet and whether people are too sensitive or not, you make a choice to contribute to what makes the Internet unfriendly.

Because, and I know this is a shock, sacrificing yourself for the cause doesn't excuse the other atrocious acts you commit. Loghain throwing himself at the Nightmare demon doesn't do anything for the people who died at Ostagar, or do anything for the people who were all killed during the Blight because he denied the Orlesian Wardens entry to Ferelden, and selling various city elves into slavery to Tevinter.
