Solas' miscalculations seem to have empowered Corypheus, but I don't see a whole lot of people in these forums chomping at the bit to execute him for the deaths of people all across the south. What's the difference? Just that we haven't seen any other Solas fuckups firsthand, yet? That it was an accident? And that makes it somehow more acceptable?

Ladies, let's not allow those poor unhappy souls disturb our great moment of Loghain adoration.

They cannot soil our love for the blue-eyed hero of river dane, the true love of queen rowan, defender of Ferelden and one of the most unforgettable characters in the whole franchise, with one of the best plot twists and redemption stories we have ever seen.

Let's all take a deep breath, gaze at hot Loghain pics, read some fine fanfic and enjoy these delightful moments of pure bliss. The rest of the haters can go boil their heads.  :wizard:

I do feel better. Thank you.

I haven't read any Loghain fanfic in ages, but I'm sure I have some steamy screenshots around here somewhere.

he very much devotes himself to being a warden and redeeming himself, so yeah, its probably better for everyone that he lives.

besides, a story of grand redemption is too good to pass up cause waah duncan died. duncan probably would have conscripted him too. anything to stop a blight.

Good to know. I'll make sure to remember to go to the Alistair thread from time to time just so people can know how much of an whiny worthless ass I think he is. Then nobody will be able to complain, after all, he is just an fictional character and if it bothers his fans, they just need to get over it. Totally fair, huh?

Exactly what he/she said he/she wouldn't do. This thread is in the spoilers section of the forum and I thought it would be about an event with him not a fan thread on how handsome he is. That belongs in the character sub forum imo and I would never click on it if it was there because I'm not a fan.

"My sister married King Maric while he was still in exile. At that time, he and Loghain were inseparable. The wild prince who'd never seen the inside of a castle, and the farmer's son. When Loghain joined Maric's rebels, he was just a rawboned boy. But he got on one knee to swear that he would see Ferelden free or die trying. He made us a free people once more. You can't know what it was like to grow up as a vassal in your own land while poncy little Orlesians minced around in their silks. I would never have believed he would do anything but what was best for Ferelden."

I loved hearing your story, Don Lionheart! I remember when I was first playing Origins, and between the few conversations I'd had with Loghain and the way Eamon spoke of him, I remember wanting so badly to believe that Loghain was driven by loyalty to Ferelden and not personal power. And I remember feeling like no matter what kind of mess he'd gotten himself into, that if he truly was that man that Maric adored, that I very much wanted to help get him out of that mess and give him a second chance.

I loved finding out that my Hawke referred to him as a "friend."

Oh my God, thank you SO much for finding this quote for me!  It seriously is one of my favorite lines in any game and for the life of me I couldn't figure out where to get it!  I was pretty close from memory considering the first time I remember hearing the line was Sept. of 2011, haha.  Everything that you expressed in your second paragraph is exactly how I felt, and I hadn't even read The Stolen Throne yet (I've read all the books now, and the graphic novels, haha).  But having read the book now, I'm doubly sure that I had made the right call in my canon playthrough, no matter how much it angered Alistair and I did not want to do that, Loghain deserved the second chance I gave him.  And finding out that Hawke believed him to be a friend made the decision to leave Hawke behind even harder, it was a very emotional decision for me, lol.  I still hope that maybe Hawke will survive the Fade.  Thanks again for the quote!

Loghain is a fu**in badass and he is alive in my canon Origins story, where Alistair is hardened and married to Anora. But there's a problem.

No matter how much I like the guy, there's no way I would choose my "Canon Loghain" over my "Canon Hawke".

So even tough I would like him to survive in my canon storyline, he just can't.

Well, unless he doesn't die in the Fade...

I totally agree with you...

I never played DA:O and DA:2 twice. So my only playthrough is my canon. Thing is: It's so hard to choose! I love them both! While I love Hawke because well, It's MY Hawke afterall, I'd never want him to die..

But Loghain is my favourite hero/villian EVER. I want to see what life will do with him.

SUCH A DILLEMA.

But... I think I would choose Hawke, to get out of it alive.

By the Maker, who ever you drop in the Fade, I hope he doesn't die.

How badass it would be, if he cheated death in the fade.

:P I don't pretend to leave him because I don't like him. I pretend to leave him because he's one of the few party members I think might actually step up to the plate and take one for the team. It's a compliment, I think.

He would.

And the cool thing about a choice like that could've been that you never get to know the truth about him!

He dies under the name Blackwall as a hero. It would've been pretty cool : D

I don't know why, but I can only see Alistair and Hawke getting alive out of that situation. Warden Alistair because, well, he is a fan favourite and BW wouldn't ever dare to kill him off against a huge ass spider. Besides, he survived a Blight, the Landsmeet and other **** like that. I can maaaybe see him dying in the Fade, but not against the Spider.

Hawke because, well... He is Hawke. The guy that "killed" Corypheus his first year in Kirkwall.

I can't see him dying against a huge ass spider either after doing something like that.

He is a walking legend. He would sooner find a rift to return on Thedas than starve in the Fade.

Loghain is pretty old at this point. He is hated by many, he already had discarded his life when he was defeated by the HoF and didn't think he could actually walk away. Warden Loghain sees his duty as a Warden as a redemption path. He has nothing to loose and I think BW is now considering his storyline officially closed.

Stroud is the kind of guy that didn't shine much in his first appearance and is so much cooler in his second one. But he is pretty less popular than the first three and probably even weaker.

He's more likable, and he hasn't, say, actively advocated for slavery or teamed up with a mass murderer to justify a nonsensical powergrab. Don't get me wrong - I like Loghain in DA:I but DA:I Loghain is not DA:O Loghain.

He did lend his orb to a mass murdere to justify a nonsensical powergrab, after he failed to recover it, he killed his friend to gain power to ensine he is sucessful in his nonsensical powergrab and Im quite sure he will kill a lot of people to do it.

He didn't kill Flemeth, even if we assume he was friends with Mythal at one point. As to what his endgame will involve - well, he's already responsible for the collapse of the entire elven race. If we're blaming on body-count, everything he caused in DA:I is a joke compared to the near genocide he's responsible for after trapping the elven gods (assuming that their society, even if it was oppressive, was relatively stable when he trapped the gods).

My point is just that we don't see him engage in such comical and self-destructive evil repeatedly throughout the game unlike Loghain. By the time we learn about what he does with Corypheus we've had the whole game to see his positive traits.

Loghain never shows you any positive character trait. You have to work really hard to interpret his actions in a favourable light because DA:O when through so many revisions his story is a mess, especially depending on your origin.

It's not clear whether he was the one that did anything. Flemeth certainly did something.

I thought the Loghain variant was the best of the three. I would never have seen his story if it wasn't for the Keep.

I agree

I killed Loghain in every Origins playthrough I did

But his story in Inquisition softened him a little for me

Logain never lived in my Origins runs. Never could stomach letting that traitorus SOB live. I also could never see my Hawke as even being around much less speaking to Logain after the events of Ostagar.

But as i have always believed, to each his own......
