Haven't put my 360 together yet, but beat FO3, almost beat New Vegas, just ha to pick a faction really, was nearly, or at lv 20.....

But I never got to play the original fallout trilogy...... just curious if the games are worth playing?

Yeah, definitely, Fallout 1&2 are great. Last time I played Fallout 1. Rocks are usable weapons, so you can even roleplay as a caveman.

Yes, the combat. The inclusion of rocks in Fallout's combat makes it a must play.

There's a demo you can try if you're unsure of the game:

https://archive.org/...ils/FalloutDemo

Observer's comment about using rocks and role-playing as a caveman is only half of the story, if you have low enough intelligence, you will speak like an idiot and it changes everyone's dialogue towards you, not just your own. The last game to implement a feature like this (as far as I know of anyway) was Bioware's Neverwinter Nights.

A damn shame too. It's rather entertaining when a moron who can barely speak saves the world.

Yes, if you dump CHA and INT, you can swing your rock harder and faster.

Can that happen if you lower intelligence in the other games?

Will this play on Win 7 lappy? I hear it's buggy with Win 8

I may just get this... only like 13 bucks on amazon right now

Isn't it still sadly removed from sale on GOG? The new ip holders like their drm & won't bring it back there last I checked.

Bethseda own the rights to the original Fallout Games and the first thing they did was pull them from GOG, they won't even acknowledge any question regarding there return to a DRM free store front.

From what I understand gift codes that were given out by Interplay the day before the rights converted to Bethseda were nullified as well.

You can get Wasteland on GOG which is the predecessor to Fallout.

They're removed from GoG and no need for GoG when the actual physical edition doesn't require steam.

You can get the entire collection, physical on disc for brand new from Amazon.co.uk for around £6 and $12 on Amazon.com

That's an odd decision. I guess you'll have to get them on Steam.

I remember I got Fallout, Fallout 2, and Tactics all for free on GoG.

Yeah, there was some legal reason or something they couldn't keep those games in there catalogue. So they gave them away for free for a few days.

You know what I liked about the old Fallouts? If you had 2 or lower in Intelligence your PC was so dumb he would only talk in grunts and body language. In combat you'd be a Superman punching everything to death.

They were the first games I got on the site when I first found out about it. In fact it was one of those free promos that brought me there.

It's definitely better to get the games from Gog.com to prevent any DRM annoyance and as a result -- The game is 'yours' when you buy it, no strings attached.

For those that are not aware of the history of Fallout.

Fallout was created by Black Isle Studios and published by Interplay who retained the rights to the series.

Interplay followed up with Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics, and the console only Fallout Brotherhood of Steel.

Interplay fell into financial difficulties around the time of Brotherhood of Steel and sold the rights to Bethseda, in this deal Bethseda owned all rights to the series allowing them to make sequels Fallout 3 and New Vegas (Nv being developed by Obsidian which had a good chunk of the team from Black Isle on staff) while Interplay retained rights to sell the original three games for a set period of time.

A year or so later Interplay attempted to make an online MMO style game in the Fallout universe but was forced to stop this by Bethesda as they claimed in was against the agreement Interplay signed when they sold the Fallout IP (I believe Interplay was working it in as happening between Fallout 1 & 2).

Interplay then brought Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics to GOG under there publishing brand.  However the rights for them to sell these games was soon going to expire so for the remaining few days they gave away codes for free copies on GOG.

Once Interplay's rights to sell the three games expired the games were legally now in possession of Bethseda who pulled all DRM free versions of the game from digital stores making Steam the only place you can purchase a copy, they then had the free codes that were not yet used from the giveaway done by Interplay made null and void claiming they breached there IP rights.

Bethseda then got the games put back up on Steam after a day of down time to redo the store page but have ignored any requests or questions to if they would return to DRM free store fronts such as GOG.

I remember Troika also made the bid for fallout 3 but lost it to bethesda

I see what you did there, Batman.

That's something I missed in FO3 and NV. You can make your character dumb as a rock, yet she/he will have normal dialog options for the most part, with the idiot options available only in certain cases. That sucks' cause in FO 1 and FO2 a retard character would act like one for the entirety of the game, displaying no signs of intelligence whatsoever.
