Since it lowers cool down does it allows you recast barrier over, and over quickly allowing you combine that with clean burn, allowing you to spam your other spells, and get more mana? 

 

Has anyone used a Barrier with Elegant Defense on a Rift Mage before? Is it good?

I suppose the real question you're asking is do clean burn and elegant pattern stack, to which I can only say that I don't know if anyone has tested it. If you fancy giving it a go and reporting back, be my guest
