Becoming nude?

Oddly enough my character doesn't seem to have the ability to get naked. Breezy idea, yes?

In fact, clothing choices seem rather limited. I can't even get him or her down to their underwear...

Granted, this isn't a Sims game.. but I was expecting something like we had in DA: O

Now, clearly to some, this may flirt with the edge of kinkyness, but I was surprised by this limitation. Now, the oxy in all of this is that I am about to go play the game where my character is encouraged to seriously maim and kill others... He just has to do it with his clothes on...  :( Bummer...

Any ideas or mods out there on this yet?

I think you should be able to take your characters down to full nudity but obviously almost everybody would disagree with me. People are absolutely terrified of naked bodies and sexuality and this terror inspires extreme bigotry (to varying degrees dependent upon culture). It's just how people are.

It's like throwing someone in jail for eating a mushroom or smoking a plant. It seems absolutely batpoop crazy to me but apparently I am in a total minority.

I've never really given it much thought.  My characters always got undressed on their own when it made sense for them to be naked in other games, so I rarely had a reason to intervene.  Besides, anyone who's played Origins should agree that Bioware isn't great when it comes to stylish undergarments.

Haha yes, Bioware's "stylish" undergarments are quite amusing.

I don't mind so much that I can't undress the characters, what I would like is more customization. One set of pajamas feels kind of limited. Normal clothing can and could be so much more varied than .. one.

I have to say that this doesn't impact my enjoyment of the game. I really enjoy DA:I and the entire series. I'm just not a prude and I'm not shy. I will change my clothes in front of anyone I honestly don't care. I'm also generally fatigued over people being so sensitive to nudity, bigoted towards people of different sexual orientations and all the while they happily embrace violence. I don't have any problem with violence either as long as it is performed in self/friend/family/justice/righteous defense (the key is: DEFENSE). In video games I think violence for any reason is totally cool, it's a video game. Likewise gratuitous nudity wouldn't bother me either but I would really appreciate it if it was more egalitarian.

Only a mod can make that happen. And that may be never. But  it doesn't bother me. What you can't have, you don't miss.

Why would Bioware want to use animators time to animate naked bodies if they aren't part of romances or other contexts where they would make sense? Only thing it would get is couple chuckles from some players who would find it funny to have naked guy running around Thedas while talking to nobles and priests.

Setting aside your question, do you actually think character models *without* clothes need to worked on by animators?

Follow-up question: what do you think is under the clothes of the 3D models as they are now? Divide by zero?

I would have liked there to be more revealing clothes in the game, but they went for functional and practical armor which is great.

...but the occasional unbuttoned shirt or sleeveless top isn't too much to ask is it. :P

Bah. No need to guess, you can see for yourself. Nude mode is the first thing you can expect in any game, modable or not.

Basically, barbie dolls with nipples.

Indeed :)

I'd still like more options for underclothes, which is surely work for texture and 3D modeling artists, but animators? One wonders what exactly people expect to be animated in a nude mod...

I thought DA2 did pretty well with the unclothed bodies. In fact, I'm actually missing fem Hawke's more robust form compared to fem Inquisitor, whom I find to be too thin (even as human). The DA2 male long pants were silly, as was the lack of body variation, but we had to deal with that in DAO as well, so I was used to it.

It's weird that the Skyhold outfit you're forced to rule in and make judgments in is also your underwear/pajamas.

although i wouldn't mind a nudity option or even just underwear (anything is better than the fugly pyjamas), a small part of me is relieved that we can't run around naked.  i don't think i'm prude in the slightest, but from my past experience with nudity and sex mods in DAO, DA2 and skyrim, i just couldn't take them seriously anymore.  in DAO, it was just awkwardly done and silly and in skyrim, i found myself running around humping more than actually getting anything productive done >___>

at the moment, all i want is an option to burn the pyjamas and more armour variety.

I'd be happy if they put medieval linen udies on them and wore armor in Skyhold. Never mind more armoe patterns, I could live with no PJs after Haven.

I never went for the fully nudity mods myself, but I wouldn't mind some more flattering attire, even some slightly revealing attire would be nice.    I always like to picture my apostate mages as being a bit less reserved.   Outfits like Morrigan for instance.

I don't really care about the idea of walking around in underpants but I would liked to have different options in clothing or the choice to continue wearing my armor...after all, Cullen gets to wear his in Skyhold!

Mass Effect 2&3 had these things. You could choose different clothing whilst on your ship which could also reflect your Shepard's personality but in Inquisition, you're stuck with one set of clothing which wouldn't be a problem if they didn't look like pyjamas! Nit-picking, I know but I felt the need to mention it since we're on this topic.

Would those mushrooms and plants by any chance impact an individual's intelligence and possibly cause them to act violent? Would they possibly be smoking them in public places? In which case the "bigotry" against those things seem justified especially if they want to smoke that crap in public. I don't know, maybe the laws are different elsewhere but in the UK it's illegal to even smoke a cigarette in public places as it should be.
