After reaching the end, especially the first time, what were your major regrets?

Examples:

I should not have made Cassandra the divine in a pro-mage game.

Leliana scared me with the seemingly unnecessary murder, against my orders, in her personal quest, which made me support Cassandra as divine, despite supporting the mages with an alliance. I do now recognize that that was a mistake, it seems that the chantry needed a ruthless leader to avoid even more civil strife amongst the mages and inside the chantry :-/. It's not a bad point, I think, perhaps there is a lesson in this.

Overall, I think Leliana the best candidate as long as you rescue the mages (and sometimes even if not), while Cassandra is the best choice if you side with the templars and Vivienne not as good in either case, though an acceptable outcome if you're very pro-templar/seeker.

I should have put Gaspard on the throne

Even reuniting Celene with Briala strongly implies that her rule is solely dependent on her relations with Briala and the Inquisition, while reading the epilogue for Gespard ruling alone and supported through missions, results in a far more stable Orlais oriented towards the north. I wanted to leave Orlais a functional country, but it seems supporting Celene results in the Inquisition assuming a very powerful role (this can, of course, be an intended goal).

I've only finished the game once with Orlais being ruled by all three together, and Cassandra ended up as Divine.

I don't think Orlais really suffers that much with Celene ruling with Gaspard and Briana working with her. Celene has to continue supporting the Inquisition or risk losing all of her support, which is good for us, and the rest of Orlais just continues as normal. Can't remember if elves start getting treated better.

I think Cassandra will be a good Divine. She's my favourite companion in DA:I anyway, I trust her to do what's right.

An unhardened Leliana would also make a good Divine I think, but I haven't seen the epilogue text for her. Best for Orlais would probably be Gaspard with Briala blackmailing him, or Celene reunited with Briala.

Things I regret though, I regreted leaving Hawke in the fade so much that I had to reload and leave Stroud   I had Varric with me at the time, his reaction when Hawke doesn't come out of the Rift coupled with the conversation back at Skyhold was just too much.

Honestly, I felt like the decisions I made the first time were good.

Conscripted the mages, Sided with the Grey Wardens, put Gaspard alone on the throne and made sure he wasn't invading anything, and I let Morrigan take the dip. Vivienne was divine even though I supported Cass, but it turned out well enough.

In my second playthrough, I actually managed to make Celene, Briala and Gaspard rule uneasily together, which I sort of saw as a bit of a dud, as I imagine they would dissolve into incessant infighting fairly soon again after the events at the Winter Palace. I would've actually liked to have seen Gaspard rule alone, but for that you would obviously have to get Celene killed, and then deal with Briala somehow? This option also gave the Inquisition a very powerful role in Orlais.

I do also regret making Cassandra Divine, as she seemed a bit of a 'safe' option if put in charge, and would've liked to have seen the results if my Inquisitor had used the Well of Sorrows instead of Morrigan.

I also never managed to punch Solas. That was by far my biggest regret  :P

I should not have sacrificed Hawke over Stroud.

Oh yeah, happily left him to rot.

In regards to Cassandra: The thing is, both she and an unhardened Leliana results in a fractured chantry and infighting, Cassandra also results in magi conflict between the Circle and College. A hardened Leliana may be ruthless, but she avoids both.

Gaspard ruling alone and made to turn his sword the right way does not mention elven revolts nor wide internal conflict. With Briala there is a lot of resentment and no apparent improvement.

I made Varric very sad in one PT. I cried with him when he told that story of his. Nearly reload from my save 2 hours beforehand, but finally decided I can't break Leliana's heart.

No, all those dumb bitches at Adamant.

At least Blackwall had the courage to try and be something better than what he was. How many assholes in Dragon Age's story ever realize they're shitheads and try to make up for it? Yea what he did was bad, real bad, but that's why he joined the Inquisition, and before then that's why he was helping people in the Hinterlands against bandits.

People really need to get off this guy's nuts.

Failing to realize you could have the trio of Briala, Gaspard and Celene work together.

Nothing major. Reuniting Celene and Briala resulted in a stable Orlais where elves get more rights and Celene leads the country by strengthening its culture and education. That's what Orlais needs. Leliana's college of enchanters also works and mages are enjoying unprecedented acceptance throughout Thedas.

My elven inquisitor drank from the well, maybe I'll regret that later. I somewhat regretted that I allowed Leliana to kill that traitor in my first playthrough...I prefer softened Leliana.

I never did this, but the moral of the story is..

"Never listen to Solas."

I like the guy and all, but when it comes to anything not about spirits, he doesn't know ****. Which Cole wasn't anymore by then, not really.

For what it's worth, in this case, cooperation may not be the best result. They struggle together more than they work together afterwards. Outcomes where one rival is eliminated tends to have a more positive tone.

I felt like the game didn't offer any right or wrong choices. Whatever you choose had the same effect either way in-game.

It's not something I regret, like he said you make him better he can help people more efficiently.

I watched both outcomes and human-Cole feels too much selfish for me while spirit-Cole appears to be more generous and helpful.
