Have they fixed PC controls yet?

I was one that returned it on day one and am just curious of the current state of the PC controls. I would still like to repurchase, but only if they have fixed all the issues.

No, there hasn't been a patch on that yet.

Though I have to say I've grown accustomed to the controls, and with a few key re-assignments, I no longer see the controls as much of an issue at all. Aside from the tactical mode, and the "hold" command, which I tend to avoid as much as possible, as they are so clunky to use. I hope that any control patch focuses on those.

Playing a dual wielder rogue now, and having no issues with controlling the char. And I tend to suck at finger-dexterity. So it can't be THAT bad. Methinks that your returning the game may have been premature. It only takes a little patience to get accustomed to the system.

The people who complain about the PC controls in this game have clearly never tried to play Ubisoft games (Prince of Persia, Assassin's Creed) on the PC without a controller. Those are terrible controls. These ones are at least manageable.

I have no problem with controls. I was expecting them to be same as DA2 and I was surprised, but it was not bad.

Here's how to fix them...

Go play ESO or SWTOR for a few days....   Then start up DA:I.   Make a few key re-assignments and you will feel right at home.

The problem comes when people played DA:O or DA2 just prior to DA:I.   That's where the confusion is coming from.

Yeah, just re-mapping is all that's needed.

The only 2 things missing from PC controls are a "click to auto-attack" function, & a walk toggle.

Also let me rebind keys to my mouse. How the hell does a so called AAA dev fuk that up. Also add auto attack this game is not a proper action game so let me auto attack on its own.

For me it's more, and unlike some others I didn't come from DAO/DA2 straight into DAI

- No mouse look toggle

- No mouse button rebinding

- No walk/run toggle or hold function

The walk/run toggle is fixed via a mod (below in my sig), and for me that's enough to enjoy.

The no mouse look / no mouse button rebinding will force you to use your keyboard for both block and evade skills, which is very unintuitive (for block) especially if you have played any action RPG with swordplay. For me this wouldn't be a problem if the gameplay is DAO/DA2 style, however the swordplay is overhauled in DAI to the point you need timing to block - which is unintuitive when it's on the keyboard rather than the mouse.

The game can still be enjoyed with ranged classes however.

Don't get me started on the tac cam though (click to move/auto attack is on tac cam, the problem is the tac cam camera/zoom/angle). PC UI still the same, but now you can rotate your character model in the UI using the mouse since patch 2.

No, sorry to disagree, they're fine, at least for Assassin's Creed.  A little rebinding and it's very pleasant, imho.  Don't know about Prince of Persia.

And, by the the way, those are action games. Not a Bioware RPG marketed as a 'Game made for PC Players by PC players'

I've played Prince of Persia and had no problems with its controls nor its sword play. Left click - attack, right click - block, shift - walk.

In fact I recommend it, it's a great series.

Sorry but Bioware dropped the ball.

Well this is what we get an unholy nightmare that is trying to be both action and tactical at the same time. Does not work, pick a direction and go either action or tactical, But dont you dare ****** on me and say its raining.

Why is this in the start section when there are patch threads and the behemoth PC complaint thread in the news section?

Here's how to fix them...

Go play ESO or SWTOR for a few days....   Then start up DA:I.   Make a few key re-assignments and you will feel right at home.

The problem comes when people played DA:O or DA2 just prior to DA:I.   That's where the confusion is coming from.

ESO nor SWTOR have pause combat. That was my major problem with the PC controls. I've played WOW for years so I can manage without the clicking to move (even WOW has MUCH smoother controls than DA:I imo), however I do miss it as it was distinct to DA series, as almost all platformer's have moved to the WOW style controls. It was nice having the classic point and click auto-attack (KOTOR) style... in my case, I get enough button mashers from everything else.

But having the tactical combat in the state that it was in is why I returned it after 30 min of play. It wasn't "premature" as others have said, it was not what I was looking for... plain and simple. By the third game in a series, it's pretty much safe to assume that the controls would be refined app-on, with familiarity, not gutted and replaced. The story and characters shown in pre-launch did not excite me enough to relearn everything. So in the shape it was, I saw it fit to return it for my $75 without a second thought.

Why is this in the start section when there are patch threads and the behemoth PC complaint thread in the news section?

That is my fault. I saw combat and assumed it a thread for combat issues. I believe at launch there was one for "Combat and Controls" bugs. At any rate my fault.

As someone who tends to play PC games almost exclusively, I've had absolutely no hassle with the controls whatsoever?

The only remapping I did was to switch the jump and pause toggle around, so that now Ctrl is Jump and Space to Pause, side from that, the rest of the controls were so easy to pick up, I've not had any reason to take them off default?

I use a wireless xbox 360 controller. This way I never have to worry about the PC controls.

I dunno I made quite a few adjustments to the key bindings and I don't mind the controls anymore. However playing a melee rogue or warrior is still kind of wonky. But I primarily play mages, so I'm not too afflicted by the clumsiness of the controls.

I agree.. though I won't say that they don't bother me... just that I got used to them and can tolerate it (I am a DW rogue too)

It was so bad initially that after 8 hours, I stopped playing and decided to wait for a patch to fix the PC UI before playing it again:

http://forum.bioware...pe-for-a-patch/

But last week I gave it another shot. Again it was painful initially but I stuck with it and after about 20 hours in, I finally got used to the controls so that I can tolerate the game. It still kinda blows but at least it is not deterring me from enjoying the game now.

I play on PC. I only use M&KB. Haven't used a controller since the 360.
