Opening doors sis by far the worst way to get gold ...the time it takes although seemingly miniscule adds up to be alot I. The long run...have you ever stopped and considered how long it takes you to clear a map and get all the gold from the doors and pots...have you ever broken the game down to its elements... chances are those who plow ahead have... chances are the ones complaining have less then 100 hours into damp... or at the most 200.... because those players who have spent the time and have put in 300 400 + even 900+ know the simple truth.... exp over every thing...... now this encompasses a large array of things... and a wide band of truths in this game..... but those doors you covet so much are some of the biggest obsticals you have to your growth in wealth and progress in the game.... not one person in the top 20 on the leader board opens a door or goes out of there way for a pot... not one.. and maybe that should tell you something..like wise ..regarding the key drop glitch.....you still play with the dlc..lol

Opening doors sis by far the worst way to get gold

Stopped reading there. On perilous, an assassin can one shot arcane horrors and revenants. You only need to open the door. Speed read the rest of your post and learned that your math is biased or lacking.
Yikes, I went back and read it. Didn't realize you were chasing the board. Hope you aren't puggin for that gold metal.

Yo dawg, I have a secret for you, it may blow your mind. You ready for it? The only people who care about being top 20 on the leaderboards, are the people who are already top 20 leaderboards. You have a bigger boner for exp than pugs do for kills.

I will only open the free doors.

The people that I play with do not get treasure rooms and we actively boot people who do open treasure rooms.

Speed runs.

Sorry, but not sorry.

Money is the way to go. It's all about getting those chests - not fighting useless mobs.

Open doors on your way to fighting if you're so against spending time getting money. Otherwise, you're just wasting my time.

(This goes out to everyone who does this).

Lmfao @ Medallian. Got your epeen up do ya? Lmfao, only the Top 20 care about being on top. And seriously, only the people in the Top are your competition, unless you quit for the next year, then maybe, just maybe I will catch you....same goes for many others.....We don't care about some ranking that gets you NADA, ZILCH, ZERO, NOTHING!

Casual players who play MAYBE 10 hours a week want every drop/box that can be had.

Enter my game and skip cookie jars or a room I boot your ass. I'm not in game to rush, as it gets me nowhere....

Top 20 is only for those with inflated ego's, so their epeen stays hard.

Ciao!

I don't think it's right to alienate one class but I do wonder how people play a game this detailed without reading forums to find out about things like firestorm.

On another note, I can't stand players that charge ahead constantly, skipping the main reason I join matches - gold. If scrolls or a weapon cache are expiring, they should be skipped. Otherwise, just open the doors for people to avoid a lot of backtracking.

Grats on your 100 completed matches.

You can get more gold and xp per hour running through than you do spending time going in every room available.

I'm not following 2 stupid people just because they decided to be stupid together. They want to run ahead while I am busy with doors and pots, good for them. I'll see them at the end when they come back to life from me opening the door.

But here's the thing...if these forums have proven anything, it's that an equally large number of people think that YOUR approach is the stupid one.  And it's great that you think you can always solo it on your own...most can't from what I've seen.  My experience is based on mostly PUGging and almost never wearing a mic, so perhaps that colors my opinion.  Splitting up usually leads to a wipe and my ability to persuade folks of one course or another is limited to "over here" and highlighting a target.  So I subjugate my own preferences to that of the majority...even when I disagree with that majority.  Keeping 3 together works out better than 2 groups of 2.  Usually the one solo dude dies and the remaining 3 can work it out.

So I say it again...you should follow the other two and not the solo player.  Those guys are just annoying most of the time anyway, whether we're taling about Mr. Runahead or Mr. Youshouldseethis.  Both are equally wrong, just in different ways.

Honestly, this debate just comes down to experience versus gold.  Experience leads to promotions, which leads to higher damage, criticals, and health, which leads to playing at higher levels and easier extractions.  Gold takes more time and buys you mostly worthless crap.  Once you luck into a decent weapon of each type (say, level 20+), there's not much for gold to buy you anymore.  While I was all about treasure rooms at first, they've mostly lost their appeal for me.  But again...if the group decides to open tham, I will dutifully follow.  If the group decides to skip it, I'll gladly do that too.  Extraction is my primary goal, so my decision is based on facilitating that in PUGs that are typically not so great. YMMV

EDIT:  Medallian...you realize that 900+ hours is roughly 14 hours per day since the gaame was released?  Sorry bro...most of us ain't got time for that shiz.

Being chilled is good.

I do exactly this and stay with the majority, but will keep an eye on what the other one is up to if they are close by.

Don't blame the players, better blame devs who made the game :P.

because those players who have spent the time and have put in 300 400 + even 900+ know the simple truth.... exp over every thing

This is just a stupid statement. For those chasing the leaderboards, maybe - but to tell the truth, there isnt that much to gain on promoting to make it as worth it as you'd think. If thats the case, why would xp be over everything?

I have over 400 prestige. I still care more about gold than I care about exp. I have promoted every class several times over and I'm in no rush anymore. I'm more interested in perfect items, so gold over exp every time.

If you play with a team that clears rooms efficiently (sometimes it's just as quick as not opening them as you split up the team), I seriously doubt that this is correct.

Until I get a HOK ring or 2 and the +HP belt, gold trumps all. The thing you need to remember is that people who post on here are usually going to better than scrubs. 9 times out of 10 I have the best gear in any given game, so I'll go at my own pace. If no banner/title people with basic gear want to run ahead for kills, they will learn soon that it is not a good idea, teaching them a lesson in teamwork.

1. This is a dungeon crawler. Emphasis on crawler. If you run ahead and die, I will be laughing so hard at you I won't be able to revive you.

2. I'm not here for kills, I'm here for loot. All of the loot. Every ******* gold coin.

3. Dogs.

blah blah

Totally agree with you.

On a side note, this is a good reason why this game needs a text chat.
