Thank you Sylveria.

And welcome one-and-all.

In an earlier dialog with Sylveria_Relden we found that we've both been BioWare forum members since the days of NWN.

Just out of curiosity I'd like to ask our members here:

How long have you been a member of the BioWare forums?

Myself, since (originally ???) 2009 on the BSN, however I've been following Bioware games since the beginning. I wasn't a fan of Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale originally but I've been planning on actually revisiting them. I bought the expanded edition of BG on Steam recently but it's a little slow going as the graphics/interface are a little outdated.

On a personal note, I've been playing since the C-64 and love me some RPG's. I was playing AD&D from the age of 12, and started DMing games at the age of 14. I love movies, music (various kinds) and outdoor activities. I manage a media arts department that services 11 facilities in 3 states (for a living) and bike to/from (about 5 miles each way).

I believe you have been with us a longer than that Sylveria.

2009 is when they went all BSN on us and moved everyone off the old forum and closed it down.

NWN was released in 2002 and I've been a BioWare forum member since then.

I was only a lurker during the BG1/BG2 period.

Started playing computer games when I bought a mail-order ZX81 kit and programmed it to play pong on the television. We couldn't afford an Atari or Nintendo.

Got a job, bought a C-64 and "Wasteland" and I've been hooked ever since.

From there it was on to Fallout 1/2, the entire Pools of Radiance series, and a host of other games mostly (but not entirely) rpg's.

Then came BioWare. Looking at the list of their games I realize I have bought and played everything they have released with the exception of Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood.

Damn, that's a lot of time and money, a lot of hope and expectation.

I hope it doesn't all end the way it seems to be going ...

I design and build metal stamping and forming dies in the Houston-Galveston area.

I drive an hour to work, and 1-1/2 home because of traffic.

True, it's been a lot longer- can only verify what I know for sure. Been a Steam user since almost inception, too. My steam ID is Sylveria for anyone here who wishes to add me. (you'll be able to see I've got a wide collection of games)

So, guys, I have started to invite the usual suspects from the Master Thread, ,as well as others who, I think, share our views.

Please try to do the same as I'm sure I will be forgetting someone important and offend them. We need this thing to go 'viral' (on the BSN at least ;) ). We shall not be silenced.

I feel giddy like a schoolgirl on prom night. Thanks again to the Owner, Sylveria_Relden

Great minds think alike, as I've also begun to invite others from the PC Concerns thread as well :) (or is it "Fools seldom differ?" Hmm....)

By the way- you can also share the link with others outside of the BSN using http://forum.bioware...416-pc-players/ in order to invite to this group. (Twitter, Facebook, whatever)

Anyway- no need to thank me, I'm just a team player here. I just want to provide a venue so that everyone can share and enjoy, with respect and it will actually be moderated (since it's pretty apparent Bioware has no active moderation in the PC Concerns thread other than CYA for themselves).

That said, if anyone has any suggestions, questions or concerns please feel free to PM either myself or one of the managers/mods and we'll do what we can to address them. Thanks! :)

Greetin's from Canada, hey?  Howzitgoon?

I've been on Bioware's forums since the first ME. Officially, if you look at my profile here it says 'Jan 31, 2010', but it's wrong.  I've just had this account the longest.

I'm also one of those amazingly ancient folks who remember cassettes and VCR's and no internet and books were made of paper and the first computer I ever saw came from a a kit a friend of mine bought from Radio Shack.  It did nothing, but it was awesome to know it was possible.  He also built radios from scratch.  I used to be able to do tech stuff - I turned my old Commodore into a TV and stereo.  Now I'm lucky if I can figure out one of those can openers that scoot around the rim and lift the top off clean.

My next computer I will build myself and use it to conquer and destroy hopefully keep ahead of the curve for games.  I tend to play more shooters that RPG's, started back in the Unreal and the UT days gettin' serious about it.  Can't remember my first RPG, though, unfortunately.  I have weird/strange tastes so it's not a surprise.

I also own about 650 million movies and books.  I one of those weirdos that prefer the paper things over a Kindle and it's kin.

Other than that I am extremely boring.  Sorry.

And to introduce myself:  I have been a gamer since I was six, born and raised in a place where gaming, fantasy, comics, RPG, was really, but, like, really really, frowned upon.

So, if I wouldn't say that this the very first time I can indulge in expressing my true passion in life - video RPG s-, but we are not far.

I always remember fondly the only time I asked a question on a forum before I joined the BSN in 2015, waiting for DAI to arrive.  It was on a Morrowind forum, a game that just wouldn't start on my underpowered Pc back in 2003, I think?

I was impressed and touched that a tech guy took the time to answer me in a 2 pages- long post, for free.

This is my very first time expressing myself on a forum. I used the BSN for tips and tricks since DA I think.

On a personal side, I'm a lawyer (tax, corporate and finance, real estate) with my own firm.  Used to be a 'wageslave' at Cleary Gottlieb Paris and NY, doing capital markets and M/A stuff and greatly suffering.

I currently live in Marseille, France.

Voilà!

Hi,

I like rpg from any origin as long I can understand.

So I'm limited to french and english games mostly while I know some gems are out there on the internet.

Damn barrier language.

I play mostly on consoles but last year this changed because of the rpgs on pc we got : Shadowrun, Wasteland 2 and Divinity then DA:I. I still yet to play most of them, though.

I played the previous titles of DA so yeah, it surpised me when DA:I didn't had the same pc controls. Thanks to DA:I, I've met trolls/bullies only because I wanted DAO 2... So after have being a victim, I decided to give my support to people like me who just want the good of the serie.

In general, I'm a dreamer who wish one day to make a little rpg at least like Final Fantasy 4. Wishing more is for the moment is too much for me who is just a dreamer so neither an artist or programmer.

Welcome! And don't worry- as I stated in the description, the group is open to any and all. I just don't want this to become an arena battle regarding which platform is "better" or not, there's plenty of those threads around. If it makes you feel better, I own an Xbox 360 because I really love the Halo series and unfortunately it was the only way I could play it since they stopped releasing Halo on PC since Halo 2. (still hating on Microsoft for making it exclusive) I will not, however, buy an Xbox One, as in my opinion it's simply overpriced trash. I can do everything on my PC that you can do with the Xbox One and more- so I simply don't see a reason to get one for a single exclusive game series anymore.

I also own an Xbox Controller for Windows- and what's funny is that when I tried to enable it for playing DA:I there were a load of issues just to get it to work. I became simply disgusted with it all after I finally got it to work and realized how much easier the controls were made to function for it (even on a PC) versus a keyboard and mouse.

I've loved the DA series since the first one- but then DA:2 was when I started to see a transition to "consolization", which would have been fine if they'd kept the PC aspects consistent enough. Anyway, not wanting this to devolve into a thread about only DA:I, as the intention of the group was for all PC games :)

@Sylveria : of course, I just forgot to write that including the origin, I don't care about the plateform as long it's and rpg  and yes, I understand that this thread is for pc users mainly so I will try to not make off topics about other plateforms.

Sorry, english isn't my main language so I've some difficulties to write my thoughs right sometimes.

Since DA2.

Had to re-register though. I activated my DA2 game a long time ago and can't remember which email address I used. Thus on installing my DA2 game a year ago, guess what?... "already activated.." and no reply from EA tech support.

So I got myself a new account....

What? You never played pong? LOL

My very first computer game was the great txt Adventure game on a IBM Mainframe. You know... "the path comes to a cross road. the path to the left leads to a dark forest while the path to the right leads to an old mansion...."

Which do you choose>?

Some of you go back a few decades... which reminds me I also played on the C-64 and also built a TV from a KIT but then I did take Electronics so that wasn't so bad.

Rabid sci-fi fan here and Fantasy. Played the old DOS game to modern.. RTS, adventure, Ultima, AOE, Halo (PC), IWD, NWN, Serious SAM, all the flight simulators, Heroes of M&M, Unreal Tournament which I liked,  Star Craft, space games... the original ELITE with its bugs...

Good times..

ELITE was awesome. I played many hours of that on C-64. The Last Ninja, LN 2, etc. as well.

The new one... mmm not really sure if I'm going to get it yet. I'm definitely going to be getting Star Citizen if it continues the direction it's heading. Always loved flight sims and with RPG/Sci-Fi combo it would be an awesome setting.

Definitely played Pong and quite a few Atari games, too. River Raid was pretty fun.

Hi and thank you for the invite!

I don't have some of the tech some of you seem to have!

I was an IBM engineer in a previous life, lol.

Missed out on BG, but loved BG2. That was my introduction to Bioware/Black Isle.

My son got me into gaming! He used to have LAN parties. Unreal Tournament, Doom, Quake and so on.

Started with WoW, but that changed after a time. Origins was my first real love alongside BG2.

Joined BSN because of Origins mods. There are some amazing people making mods. I have seen some in the forum but they don't seem to hang around for long.

Hope I can add something. At least support for you all.

Also NWN I loved, Morrowind and the followup. Didn't get into Skyrim, finished too quick.

haha. Serious Sam! ROFL. That game was insane in a very funny way!!!

First "MMO" I played was

Earth & Beyond- then

Dark Age of Camelot then

WoW, then RIFT then

moved to EVE

Now I mainly play SkillQueueOnline in EVE these days, with the occasional L3 mission, but lots of varied offline or SP games for the most part (my Steam profile can tell you more there)

I mainly do lots of RPG and Open World type of games... Bethesda's games really drew me in, but Zenimax with ESO really turned me off. Lots of people seem to like it I suppose but I really don't know why. I was in the beta, paid for the Imperial Edition, played for about a month and that was it for me. I also do the occasional FPS but it usually has to have atmosphere, story, etc. (can't stand cookie cutter FPS games)

I've been checking out quite a few of the indy and kickstarter crowd-funded type games, and a few of them have turned out to be really successful, but I really fear for the industry as a whole at this point. Over the years it's turned from focusing on loyal subscriber base to get-rich-quick cash grabs. It's not just the gaming industry, either- but business as a whole has gone from long-term investment to short-term gains.

Thanks for the invite!  I've been browsing through and It's nice to know I'm not the only one a bit disgruntled at where RPGs have been heading this decade. It all started for me with Ultima on Apple II but I think it was TSR's Dark Sun game that I played on my Tandy 1000 with 10mb hard drive that planted my love of tactical based RPGs.

Yeah, I have to agree with you on ESO. What a nightmare scenario for Zenimax, especially considering that it is made by the folks who made Dark Age of Camelot which was a lot of fun and fairly well made.  I played WOW for the longest time and enjoyed the first few years but left MMOs after that.  I tried Guild Wars 2 for 9 months and loved it.  I'll probably go back to it once I have stable internet and a place to live.  :)
