So ... let me get this straight ... you've powered a PC with electric eels? :o

That would be interesting although that would be animal cruelty.   :)

plexi tank so easy to dremel.  :)

Yes I think that is what @Peregrinus is doing :-)

Yes PSU it extremely important, but a great case is ONE of the most important thing :-)

If you want functionality, instead of a fish tank :-)

@MatrixGirl  it was functional. :P

I really should have kept at it. This was a place in time where side windows on computers was unheard of. I used to hand paint and modify existing cases for better ventilation.  I simply lost the zeal for it and never went back to it and the modding scene exploded.  :)

I have seen that video before a few years ago :-)

Was that yours :-)?

Nope. This was well before mineral oil PCs.   :)

The fish tank had a 120 mm fan intake and two 120mm outtake fans up top, of course power supply outtake on back.

My idea of customization is putting the Intel sticker and the ASUS sticker and the sticker that says my SSD drive is faster than your HDD and the Nvidia sticker and the a Razer sticker :-)

I like aesthetic and a clean looking case :-)

I´m watching the entire Playthrough of The Order: 1886

Next gen consoles are so fucked up. Graphics are awesome, but is all scripted and... ugh. Glad i play on PC.

Yes i know completely off topic as usual.

Can this be home made? Like, can i do it myself? Aesthetic or creativity? Or both?

I don't know of any of the mineral PCs that are actually built retail so they are all homemade. It takes quite a bit of work to get these types of PCs running properly. I don't think I would take it on.  I'm just like MG now.  I think putting on the case badge is enough work.   :)  Not only that, I'm an outdated dinosaur when it comes to modding now.  :)

I am not even going to try something like that ever :-)

If I needed extra cooling I would add another fan or go liquid cooling :-)

Not putting all that money in a fish tank with mineral oil :-)

But it sure would be a conversation piece

And the fans are meant to blow or intake air not liquid, that would restrict the fans and would kill them quite quickly due to the viscosity of the oil :-)

And there is a reason why it says on all the components, warning do not immerse in liquid due to risks of shocks :-)

Yeah, and this must be really expensive as well. I mean, if you buy it. Maybe is cheaper if you build it yourself. But there´s the risk of getting a nice electric shock while you play, lol. Or melt your house down. Or your curious cat thinking that there are fishes in there.

You pretty much have to replace fans with heatsinks and closed looped cooling units which is a challenge because there is no tolerance for mistakes in the build. It's a piece of art really.. I don't think I could use something like that as a standard PC though.  It's really to say that you've done it, and you get an ego boost out of it.  :)

What's the point of this project? Crazy overclocking?

Answer: The custom mineral oil pc project has always been intended as a cool conversation piece, and a fun do-it-yourself project. While there are certainly some thermal advantages, submersion cooling is usually not the best solution for overclocking. Due to the risk of tank failure if the oil reaches temperatures above 50C, we do not recommend submerging overclocked or extremely hot hardware in this system.

And the HDD still have to be outside if you are not using a SDD and there is leaks from the cables :-)

This is for the person who has more money than brain :-)

And when the oil gets hot enough you can throw in the French Fries :-)

Yeah, fun hobby.  Mineral oil is non conductive btw. You are also pumping the oil through a radiator to dissipate the heat into ambient air. Heat transference of oil is usually 4-5x better then air.  Overclocking is not so hard but as I said it's just a cool hobby if you have the resources.

Yes I know that the oil is non conductive :-)

That is why diesel electric submarines have their battery enclosures covered in oil :-)

Just in case water was to get in :-)

Well, at least you have a new kitchen if your PC is screwed.

But yeah, i get the point, that´s why i said "If i were rich" cause this is only for hobby, as @Peregrinus said. I´ll never do something like it. I really like it more the simple view, not really all colorful and weird shapes. But for decoration, is nice!

What others ways of build are out there? Custom lava projects? I´m so outdated on this stuff.

Might as well go with liquid nitrogen:-)

But liquid cooling is quite cheap now, and is much less dangerous, and nearly dead silent :-)

Yeah, closed looped liquid cooling is pretty affordable now and the best solution for PC cooling.

That would be a challenge.  build a pc into a lava lamp.   :)

@Sutree  Actually, a worthwhile project is converting a desk into a computer.  I've seen some beautiful work with that and doesn't really cost anything extra to build.. Just some parts from a home depot type place and a desk.

If there were little plastic fishies in that case it would be so cool!

@ Sutree, Love that Hannah Hunt song! I'd never heard of Vampire Weekend and now I'm listening to all the youtubes so thanks! :D

And does anyone else think it is incredibly cruel to not give us a fennec as a pet in the game? Okay not quite as cruel as when my char- mid fight- targets a fennec instead of the baddy looming over him, but still.

I want to see this curled on my throne when I go back to skyhold...modders?

@Lunafancy   They are really adorable.  I personally don't kill them in DAI. I can't kill those poor nugs either.

I've never killed one intentionally... sadly the stupid auto aim as an archer is entirely ridiculous so...well... *sniff*
