Dual 680s should be decent and since its a nivida game wait before you jump for an upgrade. Hell if i can make it run on my 7950 i will.

Anyone here know how to compile autohotkey scripts? Right now I'm having issues.

This here is a mod that has not been given enough attention:

http://www.nexusmods...tion/mods/143/?

It's currently the only way we can get mouse look toggle and mouse binding in DAI.

As of this moment, the problem is the tactical camera, as by binding my RMB to block (Q), I lose the functionality of the RMB to rotate the camera (and change that awful default angle).

I may have a solution, I changed only this in his code:

RButtonDown:
    if !interrupted && !toggle_state
        send {%key_rbutton% Down}
    else send {RButton Down}
return

RButtonUp:
    if !interrupted && !toggle_state
        send {%key_rbutton% Up}
    else send {RButton Up}
return

May not even work but if I can't compile, I can't test.

The modder may soon release 1.2 so all of this will be irrelevant. However, if I can compile the script I can try a hand at fixing the issue. All credits will go to GreenTea obviously, as my little change/minimod is nothing compared to his/her work.

Hey everyone.

So, where to start?  Well, I've been a Bioware fan since KOTOR/Jade Empire.  Loved the story telling and just kept going from there.  So if that tells you how old I am :lol: Never really joined the BSN until Dragon Age Origins.

I love games that are well done and have developers that are part of my "Big 5" list of those I considered the best developers.  Sadly, Bioware is no longer on that list.  These Big 5 have done everything right by their customers and have delivered solid games.  I should have realized that they wouldn't have changed after the Mass Effect 3 ending.  I was a part of the "Hold the Line" movement that helped to stand up against Bioware's poor decision.  But I had one little glimmer of hope with DAI.  More the fool am I. (Respect to Morrigan).

I have a near top of the line gaming laptop from Alienware.  I run NVidia cards (2 765M GTX's with a total of 4gb VRam).  I know my computer can handle it.  But every fix I ever tried had ended in tragedy.  So I had to stop playing all together.  I don't mind using an XBox controller.  I seem to like that more than KB/M.  Though I feel for people that are having a very hard time with it.  To each their own and I respect that.

And on that front I have no idea what happened.  Even with a single card, before Patch 2, I could run the game on High settings.  Then everything when to crap.  I tried kicking in SLI and the game just sat there and laughed at me going:  "Hahahaha!  Are you serious, you moron!  Hahahahaha!"  Now I can't even play the game past Med-Low settings.  God how horrible the game looks.  *cries*

So, I've had to shelve the game until it's fixed.  And if it isn't, then I'll be sending a very....tert...letter to Electronic Arts and then probably to the Better Business Bureau if they haven't already been bought off by EA.

PS:  And for those wanting to know who my Big 5 are:

1) CDProjekt Red (The Witcher series)

2) Bethesda Softworks (Elder Scrolls series, not Online.  Fallout Series)

3) Blizzard Entertainment (Starcraft, Diablo)

4) Gearbox Interactive (Borderlands series)

5) Volition (Saint's Row/Freespace)

I'm running the game with my old AMD Radeon HD 6870, with settings from Med to Ultra.

As someone else mentioned, seems to me my graphics are fine as my 3 yr old PC is more similar to the infrastructure of the next-gen consoles.

Nvidia users seem to be getting shafted as PS4/XB1 uses AMD chipsets. QA seems to have focused on XB1 and PS4 and it shows.

My wife and I were discussing on the way home from work our experience at SXSW 2012. There were a bunch of young men and women (in their early 20s) that stated they were employees of Bioware at Austin. We talked about Austin and all the the neat fun stuff that there is to do in the surrounding area. We had a great talk about the experiences of designing and making games (I really want to be a game designer, but I feel antiquated), but both Debbie and I noticed this: There is a cultural disconnect between our age group (early 40s) and theirs (early 20s). They don't care for a long, successful career in one place. They're to 'antsy' to stay under the leadership (no matter how charismatic) because they go where they feel the most fulfilled. The turnover rate in big publishing companies like EA is in my opinion horrendous. However, that's an "old" outlook as far as this young group was concerned. I asked about old titles like Planescape and they said that they had experienced the game play, but not the story. In other words, they played it a few times to be familiar with it, and didn't acknowlege the art, mechanics or even the storyline. What got them really going was talking about action fights and console-specific programming. I brought up the mod that allowed the "finishing move to always trigger" in Origins and I swear to God (I mean, the Maker) they didn't know Origins did that. With the power of wikipedia, they searched for answers and got them, but without the intent or meaning or behind them. They could care less. I asked what they're working on and they said more content to be purchased with real money because EA had said that they will not victim to "Korean farmers." I sat there and felt so out of place and out of touch. My wife reminded me that every generation has different goals and dreams and I finally entered the "old way of thinking."

Anyway, I have since cancelled my love affair gone sour with Old Republic and I feel that this franchise is going into a direction that this "old guy" won't like. Multiplayer and MMOs is what EA wants like Blizzard has done for the past decade. I'm stubborn though. I love my Dragon Age, Fallout and Mass Effect stories. Also, the paragon and renegade virtues are lost to them. Their belief is that you are not defined by your choices, but the steps you take to get to the decision. Hmmm.... that's incomplete thinking, but that may be old thinking too.

That is disheartening to hear, but thank you for sharing it.

I honestly do not mind some AMD love, ofcourse i am biased as im on their hardware. Will probably get the 970 for witcher 3 though, i feel my 7950 will let me down.

Yeh i heard the system spec is going to be brutal, i was trying to hold off till nvidia released the DX12 gpu but i may have to buy a 980 to upgrade from my dual 680s

Why I bought my G1 980 :)

By the way Cyan, I am late 20s (I just call myself old as I've been PC gaming since the 386s and 486s), and many of my friends are early 20s, who share the same views and have played the same classics as I. I am appalled if those clueless guys are the folks Bioware chose to hire.

In my opinion it's not a cultural disconnect, and unless EA/Bioware's HR is THAT incompetent, it seems that management has only decided to hire those who support their vision: Console-focused games.

Not all of us youngsters are clueless when it comes to games, from my perspective it's just EA/Bioware following after the money. Bioware used to be all about the art form, now it's all about the bottom line it seems. The writers/actors/artists who aren't involved in the gameplay experience still shines though in DAI.

I have searched the tutorials but compiling the source script ends up with a 280KB exe, which gives errors and lacks the UI interface in the default mod. I am assuming GreenTea used something else to compile it because his exe is 1MB. I'm attempting to reach him at the moment, just hoping others may have a solution in the meantime.

Unless there's something wrong with my changes itself... causing compile errors, hmmm, it is a new scripting language. Still, it compiled "successfully" apparently, I don't know... GAH!

EDIT: No, it can't be a problem with my changes itself, compiling the default source code also results in the 280KB exe... *sigh*

Wow, you guys 'n gals make me feel old.

I'll hit the double-nickel in 5 days.

Though I work in manufacturing it is entirely dependent on computers these days so I'm in front of one constantly be it at my desk or at a machine.

It's funny now but my first CAD/CAM system was a yellow notepad, a #2 pencil, and a TI calculator that only did add/subtract/multiply/divide ... had to look look trig and log results up in a book of tables!

Thank god for calculators ... I never could figure a slide-rule out.

I remember firing up the first real CAD/CAM system I got to use one morning only to hear the dreaded sound of a dead hard-drive.

My boss took it in to be replaced and have what data they could recovered and proudly returned it to me saying ... "It's got a 250 Mb drive in it now, you'll never need another hard-drive!"

 ... man was it really that a long ago? :blink:

Well the 970 is damn good at price vs performance. It beats AMD at their thing and since my monitor is only 1080 p its enough.

Hello
Some people on the forum are saying that patch 3 is now available, yet Bioware is not saying the patch is now online. Can one of you verify this?
I am at work and cannot chech

Thanks

Yes, apparently it is live. From a few reports, it's causing crafted shields to either disappear or have armor rating of 0.

If you don't want to install the patch, pause the download when it starts. You can start the game in online or offline mode, just keep the update paused.

Yes, I just downloaded it. Well, Origin downloaded it. I have my auto updates off but it didn't give me a choice.   I'll try it out and post results.

There seem to be some problems atm.

Recommend not letting Origin go online and patch until you've read all the responses on the forum.

Nope never ever chatted or talked or seen this guy except on TV.
I do not know why I am getting a personal message from him.
I do not even follow him on Twitter, and never asked him a question in my life.

Some people are saying the patch went well for them and others are saying they are having lots of problem.

Some say they have a walk toggle now :-)

Who knows :-)

I hate to say it, but the way that's signed, it doesn't sound like him. For one thing, he's Creative Director. And I don't think he'd sign his name "Laidlawlz".

Either that or someone playing a joke. She said she got it via email, not sure if that means real email or the private message system here.
