By what I read all updates and upgrades after W10 will be free :-)

But you will still have to pay 100 dollars to get it after the one year :-)

And Microsoft is not coming our clear with that :-)

It can still be done to update W7 to DX12 there is a way to do it for sure :-)

But we shall see :-)

I know that all DX12 games which no gaming company will be rushing to will be DX11 compatible:-)

Luckily my GTX980 is DX12 so no worry there :-)

But by what I read Microsoft is just trying to copy what Apple is doing and W10 looks some close to Yosemite from Apple :-)

And they are not even sure when this will be available:-)
W7 64 Ultimate is what I will stay with for quite a while:-)
My version of DX11 right now is 11.1 :-)

Will be putting that second one in tomorrow:-)

Dual GTX980 in SLI I am set for the next 3 to 5 years for sure :-)

And people claiming they are running W10 right now are lying or using old video drivers, because if you go to Nvidia driver page, there are no W10 drivers available even on AMD web page :-)

Ok I get it now, they are forcing people to go to W10 in the first year because it will be free :-)

If you do not do it in the first year the price will be 100 to 200 dollars :-)

And they say backup everything in case the entire OS destroys your perfectly working machine :-)

This is. DAI story will wait until the last day and see how much problem other people are having with it :-)

And will see who comes out with drivers for it :-)

Microsoft has tendencies of promising stuff the do not deliver on :-)

And who wants to play console games on their PC?

Anyone here wants to do that :-)?

It's a customer preview version, so they had to make sure it runs on the current hardware, otherwise no "preVIEW"...just "pre".

Hey, MG- How are you finding TW? I just realised that my 'start the first two in March to be finished by May' timeline is rapidly approaching. That should be long enough to finish both, yes?

Obviously some manager from AMD said it wont come for Win7, but then went out of his way and said this might not be true as he has no real insight into Microsofts plans for Win7 / dx12.

 

Sounds a bit strange, as if Microsoft hushed him to stfu because they know how well beloved Win7 is.

 

Either way...you are right, we'll see.

That thing probably sounds like a Boeing 747 :-)

Funny I can run top of the line gear in my machine and only have 2 fan case :-)

And it never gets hot, but then again they are dual 200MM fans and super quiet:-)

Feel free to move in no charge, I'll upload photos once I transfer my system over to it,also noticed the window and side mounted I/O can be switched to either side as can the PSU location so it works for both lefty's and righty's  since even the motherboard tray slides out after removing just 2 thumbscrews should have the whole system moved across cable tidied and powered up inside 2-3hrs so should be beack online about 5PM GMT on Thursday.

Already put one in 2 weeks ago and ordered another one and it came in today :-)

2500 dollars just in video card :-)

Why ASUS you ask, because of the heat pipe cooling system and the super silent fans :-)

saw it at CES 2015 the top picture was the demo unit they brought turns out they were super low RPM SP fans running at about 400Rpm on 2 60mm Thick 480's and I think a 60mm thick 360 mounted in the top of the upper case and front of the lower case respectively so due to the surface area they could turn the fans right down so it was super quiet.

 

But yeah if you cranked them all up to 11 then it'd would be loud praise Gabe.N they didn't use them new Noctua Industrial fans that spool up to 3200Rpm then it would be "take me away from ear bleed city where its loud and windy but the girls are pretty"

 

Think when i get round to the custom loop I'll go with 2 480's in the roof maybe a 240 in the front all with some low rpm static pressure fans,should be enough for a 4670K@4.4Ghz and 2 R9 290's I think

All with ya Senorita went Asus myself for the motherboard( ROG Maximus VI Formula)and my last GPU before the 290's was a Asus 6770 HD only went Powercolor this time for the GPU's because its a beastly cooler and both the Shroud and the backplate are Aluminium (each card ways about as much as a 2lb bag of sugar) and DAI's dodgy coding aside they run about 15C cooler than the DCII R9 290 and the clocks are a bit higher IIRC (1040Mhz GPU and 5400Mhz RAM) and right now they are £200 at overclockers.co.uk total steal at that price.

love em! would have probs got them myself if I didn't already have my R9 290's, though it has to be said if the choice was a pair of 980's or shenanigans with the 1 and only MatrixGirl well the 980's would lose lol

Windows 10 isn't exactly groundbreaking.  It's Windows 8 with metro taken out and put into the start menu.  It has some cute multiple desktops option in place , which Linux has had since almost it's inception.  Yes, it has DirectX12, but when will games really take advantage of it? Devs are just beginning to stretch DirectX11. You have to wonder what Microsoft strategy is in giving it away for free for one year to Windows 7, 8, 8.1 users. The idea very likely is to unify the platforms and make money on the marketplace/ads like as the do already with Xbox 360 and Xbox one.  That is really the one thing that would make this feasible.  And when did we turn into a tech forum?     Not that I'm complaining.

Oh your version of Windows is not on the legit side :-)

Must be hard to do the updates :-)

And Microsoft likes to send a SPP scan once or twice a few year to check if your copy is legit:-)

That is when they catch you :-)

Now you can disable that service, but they catch on to it eventually:-)

It's actually not difficult to circumvent Windows 7 and have things be legit.. ahem, anyhow that's probably why they moved to Windows 8 so quickly.  Having said that, I actually have 6 legal copies of Windows XP still, XP64, 2 Windows 7 licenses (32 bit/64 bit) , and 2 Windows 8 licenses.  Windows 8 was the cheapest. Got both for under 50 dollars during their promo.

@MatrixGirl   I love Asus too.  They make some amazing high quality parts. There used to be so many good ones but now it's  pretty much  Asus/Gigabyte/MSI/Corsair/EVGA  world when it comes to parts, cases, and other accessories.
