I agree with you 100% about W10 :-)

Apple OSX has had the same stuff for like 5 years now :-)

And Apple came out last year that all new OS are going to be free forever:-)

I got Maverick and Yosemite for free :-)

Now that Apple is the richest company in the world, Microsoft is number 4 everyone tries to copy them :/)

You are right about Linux also, they had those features for years also :-)

It is always a compliment to imitate the greats :-)

Anyone else here playing Darkest Dungeon?   I'm at week 26 now and my adventurers are all hitting level 3. The best part is that the 15 I have in my roster are still very much sane.

@Peregrinus they are copper pipe with massive heat sink and a large metal plate in the back :-)

It is the reason why they run 30% cooler than the other GTX980 :-)

4.5 KG of video cards, and they are extremely long and thick :-)

Hello guys! Love for everyone! Kinda getting into the Windows discussion, the Windows 10 is the one coming with Directx12? And is real that Directx12 will increase up to 50 the performance? That can´t be true, right?

They actually say that on older games like Dead Space 4 it is slower and games like DA2 won't even run on it :-)

Now DX12 is an API if someone does a great job at using it, you will get a performance increase, but 50% that is a bit much :-)

Hell after Bioware is finished with DX12 games will run probably 50% slower :-)

It can indeed improve performance if the games are coded to do so.  It's an API just as mantle is.  It's all dependent on the developers to unlock it's full potential.  Also, your graphics hardware needs to support it. I'm pretty sure your 7750 is directx12 compatible.  Pretty much all cards that are GCN based like your card, all R9/R7 AMD cards, well as Nvidia Maxwell architecture cards.

And with news today that you may be able to install DX12 on Windows 7, it makes the update useless in my opinion :-)

And if you want to play console games on your PC that is also useless :-)

And the names they used Spartan and Cortana they stole that from their game Halo :-)

Cortana is supposed to be like Siri on Apple, how they have no imagination to steal from Apple, just makes them look foolish :-)

DA2 won't run just because it's coded so badly.   Dead Space 3 wouldn't be affected by it since it'll just run on Directx11. There are actual intel demos where performance was 50% higher but  it was just a demo.   I agree with you on Eaware screwing things up with DX12.. Look at what they did to Mantle.     I guarantee you that CD Projekt Red will reoptimize the game for folks who have Windows 10 and DX12 to make it run better.  It's what they do.

I'm pretty sure I'm right about them serving ads/marketplace with this statement from Microsoft.  

 

 

 

So DirectX 12 will, we’re told, only work with Windows 10. That’s a bummer for people who don’t want to upgrade from Win 7 or 8, but sugaring that pill slightly is the newly-revealed free upgrade to Win 10.

We don’t know the full story there yet though – trying to find out more about that ASAP.

R9's will be able to take full advantage of it,  the other cards that support DX 11.1 now will only be able to do what I just posted above.  So simply put, 11.2 cards will take full advantage, the others will get partial support.

It just went up today!       CDPR does that a lot.  They actually reoptimized the first game to run better 9 months after it was released and gave everyone a whole bunch of free content too.

I hope it's true because I really don't want to upgrade to Windows 10.  I'm actually perfectly happy with Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 .  All it took was for a free app to make Windows 8.1 run like Windows 7..

As I said I have W7 fine tuned now like a F1 racing car :-)
For rid of a bunch of useless services and running only 38 to 40 process :-)

The reasoning behind Windows 8 was poor to start with.  They wanted to have the same OS for tablets, Windows Phone and PC.  That is why it sold so poorly. It wasn't doing anything new and it didn't really run any better then Windows 7.  If you take out the metro interface like I did, you're left with Windows 7 with more pastel colors.  I have to admit Windows 8 does manage system memory slightly better and that's the only advantage it has.
