Yes we seem to get carried away sometimes with the technology talk :-)

But we all get to learn something from each other on different topics :-)

Like when it comes to horses that is LunaFancy field of expertise:-)

The only thing I know about horses because I have ridden a few time is never go behind them and always climb on them from the left side :-)

I am sure she will correct me if I am wrong :-)

 

I´m learning about horses, PC, bikes, cars, food, houses, cities, games... demn, i´m learning a lot of stuff and i thought wit my 28 years i knew a lot. I know stuff but is boring, pure literature stuff. So i´m glad DA brought me here.

lol. I actually opened the laptop and replaced the slow 5400 rpm drive with a 7200 rpm drive I had, replaced the 6 gigs of memory it had with 8 gigs of faster ram.  nice little boost.

GTX 760... so not quite as far up lol! But I was limited to what I could get at the time and OMG! The pricesx!!!! I went about $600 over budget in the end as it was lol! I used Game Debate to help me sort the specs and googled reviews - it was a case of muddling about blindly to get the best I could manage financially lol! I figure I'll upgrade the card down the track but for now the 760 is good enough- but not for TW3 apparently... *sniff*

Actually , on the HP Envy,  you have to take the entire bottom panel off but then it's only 6 screws.    It has very good heat management since the entire bottom panel acts like a heatsink.

I think you'll actually be okay.  You won't be able to run it at max settings but  it'll run okay.  CD Projekt RED is really good at gearing their witcher games towards the entire spectrum of hardware.  It's using their upgraded Red Engine from the Witcher 2 and it has some middleware that will help manage the bloat.  I can actually run Witcher 2 on this little laptop on medium/low settings. 

 

Be safe, that storm looks like it's going to be a doozy.

My laptop is just an HP DV7 with 8 gig of ram 17 inch screen 1 TB HD and it has the Beat sound system on it, the only laptop I ever seen with a subwoofer under the laptop, it is an AMD Phenom II 960 quad core at 2.2ghz and the video card is a ATI HD 6550 1 gig dedicated card :-)

So nothing close to yours :-)

And yes it is AMD and I know I will never live this one down :-)

Cost me 1600 dollars, but it works great and it runs Da2 and ME 3 :-)

I'm in Brisbane so we won't get the worst of it- that's for the poor buggers up North, where i would never live!- but yeah, it's going to be unpleasant down here too. We've had major flood weather this time of year for the last couple of years oddly enough. I'm wondering when they are going to stop trotting out the 'hundred year flood' title since it seems to be annual.

 

I live in the mountains and on a hill so No Flood for Me! Just loads of rain and mud and wind. I hate the winds the most, they can get really scary even though my cottage has a high wind rating.

 

And MG- most horses are just fine in the rain, mine are the only spoilt ones in the street with stables. But I have built stables and they like being in them so why would I let them get drenched I ask? Plus Rupert was hella expensive, you look after an investment like that lol!

But I don't care, I loff Acers,  my last Acer is still going (just) even though it's been dropped onto hard surface like 5 times lol! This one is 8gb, has NVdia 630M and it ran DAO modded and all the ME games it even ran DAI- on LOW at about 10fps lol!

 

Now it is back to being an art laptop and is much happier lol!

so.. I thought you were a Nvidia/Intel girl.      Just kiddin.  Nice laptop.   Phenoms are great CPUs.  Beats audio is pretty great too. I didn't think laptops could output audio like this.

I've probably repaired at least a 1000 laptops in my time and most of them were actually Toshiba, HP, and Gateway.  Very few Acers or Dells.  Acers are little workhorses.

Yeah, I can see it having some issues.. It has to be able to turbo to 2.5 gig frequency on all four cores or it's rather futile.
