Yep got some red on the side but the memory chips are covered in a copper jacket for extra cooling :-)

I'll have to check on the drives. Yes, I have plenty of controller headroom. The array I would use mounts 6 x 2.5 In. drives in one internal, 5.25 in. drive bay.
Edit: checked and yes it is 6 Gbytes/sec.

Oh so this would be an internal array ?
Most people make their array external so if one drive dies you just hot swap another drive :-)

Hot swap right at the front of the machine. The rack comes with hot swap carriers.

Sounds good, but for storage purpose SSD RAID is a bit overkill, but yes it would be faster than a mechanical RAID :-)
But 250Gig SSD drives from OCZ for 89 dollars that sounds a bit cheap :-)
At that price they are not the 6GBPS for sure or they could be the OCZ drives who had bad controllers on them and the Sandisc firmware was buggy :-)
Always buyer beware :-)
If it sounds to good sometimes it is not good :-)

We now have liftoff and can engage warp drive on Matrixgirl 1 and DisturbedJim 2 :-)
But I will get there a bit faster due to the 8 cores :-)

They're the ARC 100 240's. They have good reviews. They are definitely 6 GByte per sec.
I checked the interface at OCZ's web site.

It does say limit of 3 per customer :-)
Those drives are good drives and good price :-)
I prefer the Intel SSD drives, of course they are much more expensive and have better support :-)
OCZ has ok support :-)
What is the warranty on those drives ?
#3238
Posté 19 février 2015 - 09:59
And of course you have to calculate the brackets to put them into 5.25 inh bay :-)
Those are about 10 dollars a piece :-)
Yeah go for it, but do not think you will be able to get 6 of them, unless you get a friend with a different address and credit card number to order the other 3 :-)

3 years. I'm not sure why OCZ doesn't make a point of the 6Gbyte/sec interface. If I was a guy who believed in conspiracies I would think it might cut into sales of the Vertex line (the $116 part). I think it is because New Egg is spotty with their spec sheets. I have to take time all the time to find specs that should be on the site.

I'll start the array with one or two drives and populate it over time.
The rack I will be using will put all 6 drives in one 5.25 in drive bay.

Yeah , it seems somewhat deliberate on Newegg's part. The $116 OCZ says specifically 6 gb/s while the $89 part does not. However, if you look at the reviews, it is definitely 6 gb/s but folks are putting it on slower ports.

Yes they do not want to say much about the drives on their page :-)
But they will not be that cheap for a long time :-)
This is basically an inventory clearing :-)
By next week if not by tomorrow there will be none left in stock at that price :-)

Posté 19 février 2015 - 10:12
Yes but mine has 8 cores :-)
When I check into system management I see 16 :-)
So I get there faster :-)

Glad I don't have a mirror in here. I hate when I turn green. I was going to build an X-99 until I saw the price of a 5690X. I'm too cheap for that.
