For me there was almost no hype tbh. I expected a good rpg and already counted on The Witcher 3, then due in January, to save the rpg genre. Actually DAI turned out better than I expected for me, but that isn't so hard when you don't expect anything, or is it?
Up until a few weeks prior to release I wasn't even sure whether I will get the game or not. Then I read a bit more about the game, watched preview videos and only then did I start to look forward to it. ^^
For me, DAI has been a very stable experience, too. Right at the start I had the problem with white-screen-crashes during cutscene-conversations, but I found a topic in the technical forum that suggested turning down the post-processing. I did it and it was fixed.
120 hours of gameplay later and not a single crash. Until...earlier yesterday. A non-recurring crash when I started a judge-sit-in in the throne room. I simply restarted the game, loaded the save and it worked.
PS: I don't OC. Every. My graphic card is factory-oced but that's it. ^^
It was as well for me, kind of. Had to Alt-tab the s... out of the Wartable though, which triggered the banter bug (non existent according to EAware, except they fixed it today) other than that stablestablelbly un-fun
