haven't gone that far yet, I need to know how much I'll have left to work with, before I start putting things together. I am also I tad outdated with my hardware knowledge, so I need to brush up on that a bit as well.

You ever use something like  PCpartpicker?    http://pcpartpicker.com/p/R7znK8

Fire weapon one and two

Landing and stuff like that :-)

I just usually shoot questions at my techminded friends, and talk with my local pc shopkeepers. I also haunt the tech forums a bit as well.

thanx- I'm hoping to have around 4K to 4500 to mess around with, though I just won't know till the dust settles.

And some of us can help you here also :-)

I give good advice on hardware and know my stuff also :-)

I think if you ask people here they will agree with me :-)

The 2 fastest rigs here are mine and disturbedjim83 another hardware guy :-)

I guess Haswell I7 is out of the question, but it could be done, with a good case at least 16 gig of RAM :-)

A GTX 980 and a great PSU and we can get you to that 4500 real quickly, and then we need a monitor preferably a 4K monitor and SSD drives :-)

Is that a new game ?

Yes:

http://ethancartergame.com/

Picked it up on sale last week on Steam.

Unfortunately it seems it's one of those games that makes me ill after 10-15 minutes. Seems an interesting game, will have to take it slow.

Yes but it is not the Haswell E I7 5960X 8 dual cores :-)

Do not know how can they sell a 1200 dollars video card for 600 dollars :-)

FOV could be set lower then normal.. That might be causing your nausea.

Yeah,  I'm actually into building price/performance/upgrade builds.  I can't quite add a 1000 dollar cpu into any build regardless of it's capability but that's probably just me.  I find this especially so with gaming builds. More money spent on GPU vs CPU.

No, physically nauseous and dizzy ... induced motion sickness maybe.

There have been other games that did the same thing to me, though I cannot recall which ones now.

Something to do with the graphics settings and the way movement looks.

I changed the default FOV from 90 degrees to 100 degrees, I wonder if that's the problem?

With my Haswell I am set for at least 4 to 5 years as game become more and more CPU and GPU demanding, hence the dual GTX 980 Asus Stric direct CU II

This is probably what MG would recommend. Still well within the budget.

They both go together hand in hand CPU and GPU, I myself prefer a rig you do not need to update every 6 months :-)

100 degrees might be a bit too high. adjust til you are not sick.  :)   I would do the default or even a bit lower.

Close I prefer the ASUS Rampage V extreme but that build I would recommend:-)

And an extra 500Gig SSD in RAID zero :-)

I do agree with that. A good balance is always best but if you have to compromise, you always get a better GPU for gaming. If you don't have a need to consider a budget,  that's great but that's also not most people.

It's a beautiful game, isn't it KilrB? The motion sickness isn't something I've had with it, but I can see how it would happen.

How are you finding it? I ended up restarting and using a walk-through after I discovered that I'd been missing clues in record numbers. Seems sleuthing is not something that comes naturally to me lol! It's definitely fun in an interactive murder mystery novel kind of way though. Not my usual kind of game (obviously since I need a walk-through lol!) and I don't think I'll be doing too many more like it, but by god those graphics are worth it!

My IRL issue has been resolved so I have a date with a HOTAS -there's  some rebinding to be done so I can crash my Avenger!

hmm.. here's a thought.. does the game have motion blur?  and if so, did you try turning that off?

And a Creative Lab civi extreme PCIe sound card :-)

I would never use mother boards sound cards :-)

They eat resources and have average sound, ig you want great gaming sound go for a dedicated sound card :-)
