Thanks, I saw that earlier in my net scouring, but it doesn't do HOTAS yet. Eventually it will but not now.

I look at it this way, I've learned loads since starting to use mods and crap on PC games, this is just another thing to learn about. It'll just take me a while!

In the meantime I have ED and now I have Legend- and unlike the other VA pack I tried, this one comes with a list of actual commands lol!

Well, I linked it because it seemed like you were in dismay after looking at XML.   :)

Stuck in insomnia land.  :(  I discovered that I have 9 gigs of skyrim mods on my flash drive.  lol

That's an impressive whack of mods...how big is the original game again? lol! I don't recll it being all that much more than that... My god I had some fun with the Skyrim mods, I learned about BOSS and cleaning things and load order.

Never got my FNV mods to work though *sadface* Nor can I fathom how to start my modded Freespace2 in mod mode...I haven't given up on either though, just biding my time before relaunching my attacks.

Speaking of FAILs, my xml mapping program won't even open now for some reason lol!

I will extract it again, since it worked the first time...then never close down until the process is finished.

But that is for tomorrow when I have hours ahead of me to beat my head against the desk. For now...the gamepad calls me!

What time is it in AU?  3:40 pm or so?   Give the XML thing a rest. :)  It'll drive you absolutely nuts.. I used to do a lot of javascripting, and html a long time ago and they were migraine inducing. :)

I actually have the Skyrim mods categorized by folders.  lol

6.50 pm here and my god you're an organised modder! I use Nexus Mod manager as much as possible myself, it saves me having to do the organising lol! I do have folders though, just, you know, one big one for each game lol!

Code breaks my brain the minute I start looking at it, right brain arty type that I am. But I will crack it, I want to fly that ship with a HOTAS and it took me long enough to get the hang of the mapping I have on ED, no way I'm changing it up now. Three modifying buttons to make 24 commands mapped (plus a few k/b ones too) was almost too much for my poor little brain to work with, a whole new config will kill it! :P

Ya, I don't think coding is for everyone. I tolerated it because I really wanted to build those NWN modules but after doing it for about 5 years or so, I burned out on it.  lol  XML/HTML is simpler then Javascript but the same principles.. It's real aggravating after a while.   :)

I use nexus mod manager too.  That prog keeps on getting better too.  Although, once my real life gets more on the stable side, I'm actually thinking of spending all my spare time making some Dragon Age modules.  :>

I'm sure you'll figure the whole thing out for the HOTAS.  :)

Can you fix the elves? Can anyone fix the elves? I really want to play this game as a male elf, just like I did with DAO. As in, I think I'd excuse all it's crappiness if I could play as a decent elf. Hell, stick pointy ears on a human and make the NPC's think I'm an elf and I'll be happy.

I really dislike Bioware for the elf lie.

@LunaFancy  BTW, Skyrim was a little over 6 gigs in size, about 7 and half gigs with hi resolution texture pack.  :)

I have some experience with modifying textures in 3d but I'm a Jack, not a master of anything.  The problem with DAI is that modding is somewhat limited because there are no official tools.  Dragon Age Origins at least has tools for it.  I'll get familiar with the Origins tools and hopefully there will be more flexible tools for DAI.  I promise I will fix the elves because I hate the way they look too.   :)  Ya know what though?  Solas seems okay when in comparison to PC elves so it's very possible that outfit adjustments would make them look a lot better.  Of course, there is that hideous skyhold outfit where the elves would look broken again..

Lol! We have many, many hideously toxic things- I've had an Eastern Brown snake get into my hose, that was horrifying because the cats were near the door when it forced its way between the screen and the glass. I'm proud to say I leapt into danger to whisk the kitties to safety- well lock them in the bathroom.

Lemme tell you something, all this malarky about decapitating snakes with a shovel is a crock unless you've recently sharpened said shovel. I was on the wrong end of a very pevved brown snake after I made that discovery lol! Mum and I chased that bloody thing around my house forever before it got poinned under a desk- after we'd lifted it up to check. Yikes.

Taipans x2 in mum's house, that's no fun at all, but shge weilded a sledgehammer with skill and alacrity that day lol! I copped a dry bite from a young brown snake when I moved some hay last year- spent a boring night in A&E waiting to see if venom had been injected, thankfully nope. And that's not counting the non venomoues snakes I am charged with removing lol!

'Tis a fun country indeed! No bears though, we have that going for us. Then again we have 6m saltwater crocs up north, they might trump bears...

Solas has a male human body, dear Peregrinus...most of the times. It switches with equipment and the noodle-arms bug sometimes occur for him.  check Lord Surinen threads on this; it's hilarious.

Sera is a female human (can't even equip race-gated equipment...maybe this got fixed with patch123548520216, though).

@Luna Sheesh Bioware codders, sheesh... ;)

They knew...oh...they knew..we got royally screwed with DAI. I wanted to ask you: how come we don't see Cyan in there anymore? was there an issue of some sort while I was away?

I'm unsure but I think he's actually able to play DAI without crashing on the beta build so he's occupied testing.  I've seen him in the PC Community Concerns and also Beta 5 discussion threads.

ah ok...did you get my mail and my short story (in French, sorry about that).

Writing fiction has always been very important symbolically for me (maybe the only thing I can be proud of these days that is not related to family and stuff) but I can't seem to be able to get 3 hours alone to translate it properly these last two weeks.

Well, I'll see if there is an app that will translate it for me.  I do have Dragon so that might actually do the job.

Didn't realize that they were .PDF   Can you convert those to .TXT  ?

To all readers: PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A WORK OF FICTION WRITTEN IN 1995. DON'T PESTER ME WITH REAL WORLD PROBLEMS. THANK YOU.

______________________________________________________________________________________

The following lines were found in the Vatican library, in a wax-sealed, weathered black box, under the Latin mention: “Nolite unquam aperire”

NEVER TO BE OPENED

In vino veritas

Not bad at all, don’t you think’, said in a satisfied tone, Markos the Phrygian merchant.

As he said that, Markos got his huge body up from the wood bench he was worrying with his weight, which creaked and groaned in vain protestation.

A big, lanky man, his face heavily creased by desert winds and the worries of life, he faced his 10/90 partner, Yvis and said:

You know, we could market that as the lifetime work of an old sage -Greek as usual- who perfected these basic life principles over his long ascetic life. Commerce excepted, of course’, he laughed

Good idea but don’t you think we could make each client believe that it was written by a man of his tribe? Could be better for us, said Yvis.

You’re were always a sly old fox, Yvis, laughed Markos, Sold! (hi, hi)’.

I’ll be curious to know who the real author is, though

Humpf!’  , harrumphed Markos,’ Just a poor little student I swindled last year. He wrote that to cover his debts but philosophy will never pay for ten crates of fine date-liquor, you know.’

Markus clapped. A scrawny slave appeared, wearing a black and red livery, and bowed deeply.

Naron, make sure these get translated in Greek, Egyptian, Assyrian, Phrygian, and in the languages of the Northern Celts. Ah, and don’t forget to carve a copy in Hebrew. I know of an enfranchised Jew who became very rich. I‘ll bring the stuff to him during my yearly travel in Egypt’, said Markos

And that’s how in the year 1260 before the Coming of the Sacred Son of the Lord, and approximately ten years after Moses has led his people out of Egypt, Markos’ caravan set forth towards the Land of the Pharaohs. They took the long desert road which crossed the Sinai Peninsula.

The Sinai Peninsula where, at the same time, were wandering Moses and his People.  The People was starting to wonder if they really had made the smart choice by opting for Wandering instead of Slavery. Some were even thinking that it was past time to thank the ‘Enlightened One’ for his services.

Said Enlightened One, on his side, was asking himself - like a lot of men before him and a whole lot more after- if His God had finally forsaken him. (‘Eli! Eli! Lammma sabactane !’ was he clamoring).  And all that.

And that’s in this -slightly- sacrilegious state of mind that Moses started his ascent of Mount Sinai, face turned towards the fulminating storm clouds slowly rolling around the summit of the mountain.

Markos was ascending too, a lot more gaily. Maybe it was because he was using the East mountain path which was practicable by horse and was therefore riding a fine mount, or maybe because he never had another God than money, and from this One, he had never expected anything.

God help me but that first part reminds me so much of my PhD supervisor ripping me off I canould hardly concentrate on the rest of the story lol! 12 years ago now and it still makes my blood boil- I hope you got what you had coming you cow! *ahem* - but once I got over that and read it again I am intrigued, who is this Markos and what is he up to?

I hope there's more!

Meanwhile, my reason for dropping in at 11pm my time- past my bed time for sure - is to squeal with uncharacteristically girlish excitement- I managed to evade two interdictions in Elite Dangerous tonight! TWO!

First time and all that- and I've finally made real dough. I'm now sitting on over 6k, if I can survive a trip to a station with a shipyard I might even be able to upgrade my pitiful shields so that the next interdiction I can't evade doesn't cost me a fortune in repairs. Then I'll get better guns and start fighting back! Muhahahaha!

They don't call it Elite Dangerous for nothing, apparently it's a scary, pirate riddled galaxy we live in...and that's just the solo game lol! I shudder to think what open would be like! And we won't mention getting too close to a star and seriously overheating lol! Vertical learning curve in this game, vertical I tell you. Still, I have my space trucking song list sorted and there is nothing quite like cruising the stars with some good tunes.

And tomorrow I am going to sort out the HOTAS for the avenger and get my digital bum in a decent ship for once!

And here is part two. Spread the world, Friends. :) And let the critics be harsh and unforgiving!

__________________________________________________________________________

Beautiful land isn’t it, Yvis? A tad sinister for me but pretty anyway. You’ll see from up there, you’re looking down on all the flatlands below, it’s impressive, chatted Markos.

I don’t think we’ll see anything honestly, boss, whined Yvis, with that kind of storm coming, it’s almost as dark as a full night. By the time we’ll reach the top, this blasted desert will be as dark as the inside of my old, much used boots. Come to think of that, have you given any thought about the raise I asked you……

Maybe. Yeah, I think you’re right, Markos interrupted, let’s pick up the pace a little. I know of a cave near the summit where we’ll be able to find shelter when the rain starts.

Markos spurred his horse ahead. The beast dutifully started trotting towards the summit.

And it is now time for the third protagonist of this story to enter. As Markos started heading towards the aforementioned cave, he was leaving it, sword in hand, followed by two scores rugged ruffians and callous cutthroats armed to the teeth.

They belonged mostly to the race that will one day constitute the Bedouin people, savage and noble desert nomads. Dark-skinned and wearing wide black and blue burnouses, they were plying their modest trade from the Red to the Mediterranean Sea, without much thought or ambition. Their leader, another big lanky man, was called Achmed and was a lot smarter than his men, having spotted Markos’ caravan from his cave refuge for four days.

Charge’, simply said Achmed.

And they did. It was a very classical massacre: the bandits easily slaughtered the caravan, the men being more accustomed to guiding camels and other beasts of burden than to fighting. Markos gave a good account of himself however: the old merchant killed several of his assailants before being impaled by Achmed’s scimitar.

His mount followed him in its fall, letting the carved stone tablets he kept in his saddle bags spill upon the rocky ground.

The bandits looted their loot and charged it - along with the bodies of animals and men. Indeed, the road ahead of them was long and difficult as they were now heading to Memphis to sell their new-found riches and spend some nights in gallant company.

After they left, the storm redoubled, the rain washing the blood from the rocks and lightning crowning the summit in its blue glory.

Moses, wet as a frog, was just finishing his Ascent to the summit, swearing and talking to himself:

All this mewing veal and bleating sheep crying and lamenting at the bottom of this bloody mountain! Bunch of illiterates that believe that three drops of rain and four lightning bolts are a sign of God!

All right, it doesn’t rain every day in this Land, I’ll give the bunch of idiots that, but that’s no reason to force an old man like me and his arthritis to climb this rotten pimp in the middle of bloody nowhere!

Speak to me of a nice pyramid, a mansion close to the Nile…not this blasted..’

Before him, Moses discovered Markos’ tablets, scattered on the bare rock. Intrigued, but still in a fool mood, Moses bent over and picked one.

‘You shall not kill’, the text began in Hebrew

Moses read the tablet, turned it over, picked the next one with feverish frenzy, read it, tossed it aside, picked another, read the whole ten.

Despite the intense cold and lashing rain, he was sweating:

But that’s The Solution To. All. (My). Troubles! , Moses articulated. Ten years, ten years that I have to support and tolerate these sheep who expect me to solve all their petty problems from marital issues to camel thievery!

Now, at last, I’m guaranteed a golden retirement as Beloved Prophet of His People.

Bright and smart as I know them to be, seeing these little tablets, brought back by yours truly from the mountain, they ‘ll think this is the Word of God, carved especially for them on neat stone tablets.

Of course, I’ll have to fatten it a little, yes, laws and laws and laws, how they love their laws. But that’s a good start.

It will be the Ten Commandments, the word of Yahve to his people’

A the exact time Moses finally finished his disheveled tirade, lightning stroke the very summit of Mont Sinai, just a few dozen feet way, almost stunning Moses.

The old man, drenched and dizzy, picked the tablets, erased with a stone Markos’ seal on each one and started his descent, laughing to himself and rubbing his hands in self-satisfaction.

‘Eh, Eh, God works in mysterious ways his wonders to perform, Eh, eh, eh, thought Moses.

You bet, sonny, you bet, ‘a sepulchral voice boomed then, high above Mont Sinai, echoing to the valley
