Linux is alright if you want to fight with it and get all your hardware to work with it, then you have to run wine in order to play a game or use bootcamp :-)

Weird DA2 was PC and MAC OSX and DAI is strictly console rehash junk

And we do not want it on the Mac since it is junk anyway DAI that is :-)

Linux is really not that bad.  I've never had to fight to get anything to work as intended. The only thing Linux is still picky about is wireless devices. It's not difficult to write a custom script to get around that.  Gaming is it's true weakness since most of it runs off DirectX , not OpenGL. I was hoping SteamOS would resolve some of that but there is still a lot of work that needs to be done.

Spartan and Cortana are names they used in Halo

And Bungies jumped ship from Ms overlord and went on their own :)

Open GL is quite good with the new OSX and a great mac

I run Yosemite and all OS for the Mac has been free for 2 years now and what does Ms do, give out W12 for free :-)

I see someone trying to copy the greats again :-)

Poor choice on Bungie's part.  They ended up getting in with Activision.. I'm not sure if that was such a great decision.

Well better than Bioware getting in bed with EA

And they still pump out a great product :-)

have a good time, as for safe... don't you folks in Canada have more firearms per capita then us down in the US? I'd think that would be enough firepower to keep you out of harms way. (you said you were Canadian iirc, though my memory has been off lately)

@LunaFancy

Have run into problem with ED.

On second login it wants to install the game again which means another 3.8GB download.

Will have to wait on that.

Found that I can play the tutorials offline though, so I'll be doing that.

I'd just like to remind everyone to be respectful and courteous of each other in the forum, please. The intent was to provide everyone with a place to voice their opinions, or just generally hang out with each other and meet others who are like minded.

That said, I've been really relaxed about allowing threads to continue because I understand sometimes typing text on a screen doesn't really communicate "intent" or "feeling", so it's really difficult to determine malicious intention.

Please- consider your posts before you hit the "Post" button. :) Thanks in advance for doing so!

I try, and if I have said anything here that has offended or hurt feelings I herein apologize for I have not meant to do so.

Anything said to any member of PC Players that might be interpreted as such was surely meant in jest.

On the public forums on the other hand ... there are those who's stupidity, ignorance, and arrogance deserve only the harshest criticism.

Still, I try to bite my tongue as not to reflect badly upon us all but that is not always possible.

They even recycle themselves. They are blue animals! Is there anything they can't do? :D

Well, it had to happen. I bought the 6 drive cage for my raid array one week. The next week IcyDock intros the 8 bay part for the same space and, of course, my drives will fit it fine. Doncha just hate when that happens?

Nah, that'll just be the updates- they're tiny. They patch this game every five minutes, or so it seems lol! For while there I'd miss a day or two, jump in all eager and...update...lol! Then of course you get in and lo and behold they've listened to the players who've been in since BETA and are a bit bored aaaaannnnnd all of a sudden the NPC's are trigger happy and really powerful. So much fun for a noob in a starter ship lol!  The difference after upgrading my power plant and shields is amazing. I might even make it to Aussie Home Base with a few tweaks to the FSD.

Or did you only install the tutorials the first time round, perhaps? That would be a smaller download anyway.

No, it's a full install but after it (apparently) wanted to install again on the second start I declined and started digging in the directories.

That's when I found I could run the tutorial offline.

In the "COMBAT_TUTORIAL_DEMO" directory there's a file "EliteDangerous32.exe" that will start the tutorials.

I'll take your word on it since there is no way I'll be digging around in anything lol! :) Pretty sure it did that for me too and it was just the updates- there's been quite a few since the game came out so the first one was longish but the two? three? since that have been small.

Here's the patch thread on the forums- there has been five since release in December, hear that Bioware? FIVE.

How are you finding the tutorials? It took me so long to get the hang of docking (first on the controller and then again on the HOTAS) that I still get a little thrill every time I do it easily now lol! I think I ended up spending 2 1/2 weeks in the tutroials only. Going to go back and do some combat ones soon, since my sidey is nearly ready to start fighting back... FSD upgrade and a fuel scoop next, then we'll be on our way to Home Base.
