I'll take your word on it since there is no way I'll be digging around in anything lol! :) Pretty sure it did that for me too and it was just the updates- there's been quite a few since the game came out so the first one was longish but the two? three? since that have been small.

Here's the patch thread on the forums- there has been five since release in December, hear that Bioware? FIVE.

How are you finding the tutorials? It took me so long to get the hang of docking (first on the controller and then again on the HOTAS) that I still get a little thrill every time I do it easily now lol! I think I ended up spending 2 1/2 weeks in the tutroials only. Going to go back and do some combat ones soon, since my sidey is nearly ready to start fighting back... FSD upgrade and a fuel scoop next, then we'll be on our way to Home Base.

Spending more time watching the vids at the link you gave atm.

Even more time reading "Vengeful Spirit".

Looked that book up on Amazon, looks really good. Shame it isn't on kindle though, my impulse book buy trigger relies on kindle lol! And since I'm waiting for a Crichton book Ashen put me on to arrive already, my paperback buying button is broken. Might put it in my book depository wishlist though, so I remember it when I finish the other dust catcher. Cheers for the rec.

I tell you, for a multi pet household, Kindle is a godsend, by bookshelves are bursting at the seams as it is and so hard to keep fur free! Ive got 400 odd books on my Kindle and all in one tiny dust free space lol!

How good are those vids, once you acclimate to the accent I mean lol! Made things so much easier for me, I'm contemplating venturing into USS territory soon, but I'll be watching that vid again first!

Hell my Alani campaign in A:TW is not going well, their army sucks compared to the Huns, their melee cavalry is decent, but infantry is crap, and their missile cavalry can't hold a candle to the Huns, fighting the ERE in a guerilla campaign. Lost an entire horde to the Sassanids too, my slow cataphract archers can't outrun their light melee cavalry, and staying to fight in melee just leaves them overwhelmed.

I may have to mod them! Argh...

Hey Jackal, how exactly does the combat work on the game? Is it all isometric, map overview (how I imagine) or do you actually get to zoom in and watch stuff?

Because, if you can zoom in and watch, that would be something I'd be interested in playing some time down the track.

If it's like the other TW series games, you can zoom in close to see the brutality.  :)  The History Channel used Total Wars game engine to show massive battles in history.. It was pretty cool. I'm not sure if they do that anymore.

I'm surprised you haven't seen TW combat in action! Yes, as Peregrinus mentioned, you can zoom out for a birds eye view, or zoom right in right up to their faces to watch the carnage! With large scale battles of up to around ~10,000 soldiers at the same time. TW games have always been about thousands of soldiers battling it out.

There's 2 parts of the games, the campaign map, where you build/research/train armies/recruit agents/do diplomacy/move your armies/etc - like Civilisation games, and it's turn-based. When 2 opposing armies/navies meet on the field (or in a siege), then you have the battle map, which is real-time strategy, and you'll be commanding the troops battling it out.

Have a look at youtube to get an overview of the gameplay, it's hard to put in just a few words for those new to the series, they are very big/deep strategy games. I first got into TW when Shogun came out like 15 years ago, and it was the only game of its time that featured large-scale battles with thousands of soldiers killing each other heh.

You make me sound bloodthirsty Peregrinus lol! Well, okay maybe I am, just a little. Sounds good though.

ETA: Thanks Jackal! I tried looking on youtube when you first talked about ti, but all the vids show seems to be the strategy, and overview sort of thing. That's great and all, but I want my violence!

Now, however, the whole thing sounds pretty damned good, might have to start with Rome...I was a part of a Roman re-enactment group once upon a time, spent most of the time making chainmail though lol!

Rome is hard to play in A:TW, all migrating barbarians always want to park within your borders, meaning thousands of armed immigrants. And just when you managed to deal with them, the Huns uproot more and more tribes from their homelands, who just keep flooding ya heh, not to mention internal disputes, rebellions and religious unrest - and your troops are not very cost-effective (these are late-Roman Legionnaires, not the Legions of Caesar). The Eastern Empire isn't much better, you have the Sassanids (Persian Empire) to deal with as well as the barbarians (who thankfully just raid/pillage along Thrace/north of Constantinople before moving on the WRE).

All this time the Hunnic armies outclass anything available in other nations, as they did in history heh, so expect heavy losses if you encounter one of their armies. Heh honestly all the time playing Attila I have the movie "Attila the Hun" in my head, especially the scene where the Huns finally decide to invade the WRE, with Tim Curry as Emperor Valentinian (he has the funniest smile lol):

(Watch from 8:00)

Emperor Valentinian (smiling): "All nations north of the Rhine are to join the Huns in a mighty crusade against the wicked forces of the West!"

Flavius Aetius: "Then we must join forces as well, present a united front"

Emperor Valentinian (smiling): "Attila has hammered us long enough, it's YOUR turn now Flavius Aetius... and I wish you to BEST of luck! He marches on Rome, within the month!"

Fascinating era of history really, the dawn of the dark ages. You really experience it ingame.

Dayum!

I know right sexy as hell best thing is that they each come with a backplate and they cost £40 less than the EK Waterblocks and £60 cheaper if you wanted the EK Block with a backplate so I'm saving £120 just on the GPU blocks which will get me a 480mm Alphacool 45mm Radiator and 4 NB-eloop fans.

They are a Hybrid having a solid copper coldplate for the GPU core with the VRM being cooled passively by the outer shroud/heatsink but unlike other semi passive blocks the outer shroud/heatsink is in direct contact with the coldplate so most of the heat is absorbed by the coolant just like a more expensive EK block.I'll be ordering those next week when i get paid again after that all I'll need is another 480 Rad the pump and Res some tubing coolant and 12 compression fittings.

I"m drunk, sad and angry. For no obvious reason. Testing out the Group ability to channel and diffuse anger.

Would you know of a Biowarite I could.... ahem...answer to?

I view him as more a Contrarian than a BioWarite.

If you tell him the sky is blue he'll argue about it.

Lol! Elhahan makes my left eye twitch whenever I read his posts. Then I move on, lest he inspire a bout of keyboard tourette's. :)

ETA : My god this cracked me up, all those pages of PC Community Concerns vitriol and Conal pops his head and just says- the entitlements for Beta 6 were tasking a while, then pops back out seemingly oblivious. LOL!

Lol! He is a bit of a tool, but I'm with Ashen I don't think he means to be a tool. I think there might be something else going on there, he's not aggressive, which tools usually are,  more infuriatingly monotonous in his opposition.

Still as irritating as a burr in your breeches though lol!

Hello all :-)

Just found on the App Store on the Apple web page :-)

Made by EA :-)

It is called Heroes of Dragon Age

Uses the same characters and places as DAI :-)

I guess EA and Bioware are going mobile devices for DAI :-)
